  • Don't worry. Stress can be a big calorie burner. I went through a very rough patch in my life where I was suffering with severe stress. It wasn't until I came out the other side and started piling on the weight that I realised just how much the stress was keeping my weight down. Concentrate on you and your family for a…
  • I don't know if you sleep with pillows but I find sleeping without a pillow gives me less disturbed sleep. I don't have a mask thingy but someone I knew did and he didn't bother using it as he found it strange to use as well. He just really concentrated on losing weight so he didn't have to suffer anymore.
  • My goal is 84 so it's put me on 156. Thanks everyone for the info. I was just curious :-)
  • This made me  so much  Thanks for sharing your story. Good luck with the rest of you aims and goals
  • another suggestion could be to try drinking a different type of tea like earl gray or something. Don't put any sort of sweetener in it at all so you get used to the new taste without it being tainted. I used to have 3 sugars in tea and cut down to 2 easily. Then I changed to splenda. I found after that if I had normal…

  • I've just noticed your ticker says you've already lost 10lbs. Have you hit a plateux (think thats how it's spelt!)? I've only been on here for 1 week but I see them mentioned a lot and I think there's a lot of info on how to deal with them in the forums if you look. That might help????
  • Go by measurements and see if you're losing inches. Are your clothes getting looser? If so then don't panic!! as the last person said, Muscle weighs more than fat so if you didn't exercise before much then you'll be building up you're muscles now :-)
  • You're not that far over your calories. Going for a 30 min brisk walk every day will increase the amount of calories you can consume. And they always say exercise is the key!!
  • Learn to take smaller portions in the 1st place is always a good place to start. My mum and I ate of smaller plates to help us reduce our portion sizes. Instead of eating off a dinner plate, we'd eat off a side plate, that way it still looked like a lot and we actually still felt full which was unbelievable to both of us!!…
  • A little thing that someone very close to me said one day that hit home very hard: Just because I put it in front of you doesn't mean you have to put it in your mouth so don't blame me for you putting on weight. It made perfect sense even though it hurt at the time. Just because your parents don't really help, doesn't mean…
  • Brittany - wow you're really good at advise. Now I feel like mine was really bad!!! I was trying to help but now feel like I might've hindered instead!!! Kim - definitely take Brittany's advise and think seriously about all the points she raised as they are all very good :-)
  • Fantastic. You've just made my day!!!! I love this
  • There's a saying about "the truth hurts" and you can always rely on those who are closest to you to tell you the truth. If they won't say it to you then who will? I've asked my husband to be completey honest with me if he ever has a problem with anything and I expect him to keep to it. He say's he doesn't care if I put…
  • Is swine flu any help? Thats the most recent thing I can think of.
  • I've had similar problema to you. I am on day 4 and loving it. I find all these forums fantastic as well. You get soo much advice, info and help from people in similar situations that you can't help but feel motivated and happy!!!
  • http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/92314-snacks Try this forum for some ideas as someone else asked something similar so you might get some ideas off there as well :-)
  • I believe they're made by Cadbury's which was an Enlish company until it was recently bought by Kraft so you might start seeing them soon as Kraft is American?????

  • I'm always over on my sugar as well. I'm just trying to keep it as low as possible by trying to cut down on the things that appear to have high sugar content. And I figured that as long as I keep exercising then a little sugar isn't going to be all bad. While I was pregnant I turned diabetic and the specialist told me that…
  • WOW!!! Congratulations. It's nice to hear stuff like this because I've only just started and am finding it a bit tiring at the minute having less calories. I can't wait to get to a point where I feel fitter and can run around with my daughter and dog without collapsing with exhaustion!!!!
  • When I want to know how much is in something, I go to add food and search the database then look at nutritional value without adding it to the meal!! This helps me plan some meals to!

  • I went shopping today and bought some Granola bars for snacking on. I got Maple Syrup flavoured ones and they're yummy! 185 calories for 2 so a reasonable amount for a snack by the sounds of it!! They have 11 on the sugar though so thats not so good :grumble:

  • Before trying to lose weight, I've noticed that my weight yo-yos throughout the day, depending on the time of the month and I also suffer with irritable bowel syndrome and that also affects it. So what I try to do is weigh myself under the same conditions to try and keep things as even and accurate as possible. I know this…
  • I was told I had to lose weight and when I fell pregnant I had the same concerns. The doctors, nurses, midwives and even a dietician all assured me it was fine as long as you do it sensibly and eat healthily. Starting new exercises is more of a problem. I ended up losing 1 and a half stone while pregnant!
  • Hey I'm Alex :-) I'm a mum to a 4 month old daughter and would like another baby at some point and thats one of my reasons for wanting to lose weight as well. My sister introduced me to this and I've only been on it 3 days but am finding it really helpful, and thats saying something as I've never ever been able to stick at…
  • I quit smoking over 5 years ago now. I used to smoke about 30 roll-ups a day. I went "cold-turkey" and I won't deny that it was hard. All I can say is the 1st 2 weeks are the hardest. If you can get through those 1st 2 weeks then you'll cope fine. It doesn't get better very quickly but you learn to avoid triggers like if…
