Good morning, Christina! My supervisor at work is taking our team to Olive Garden this Wed. I did my research; it seems like the soup and salad is a good choice (skip the breadsticks). I hope you have fun at Applebees. Yesterday was an unusual carb heavy day for me, I had two small slices of pizza for lunch and would have…

Well I finally worked up the courage to step on the scale......181.5, 3.5 pound gain. I am surprised that I don't feel angry at myself. The important thing is to get back on the horse, which I have. My New Year's resolution is to stop the overeating. Treats are OK, but not full days (or weeks) of treat-eating. 3.5 in 3…

nebslp, yep NSVs are really important to keep track of. You might want to partake in the NSV thread. Whenever I start feeling down, like I'm not making much progress (or it isn't coming fast enough) I think of those NSVs and they keep me going. Also a gratitude journal is good too.....................

There's a lot of unanswered questions here. Are you logging your food? Are you eating balanced meals which include adequate protein and healthy fats? Have you tried going for a walk outdoors when a craving strikes? Can you make a healthy substitution like flavored water (sugar free, including artificial sweeteners - I like…

It's great to be here again. Haven't stepped on the scale yet. Still a bit afraid. My goal for 2025 is to lose 50 pounds. My resolution for New Years? Stop the overeating. It slowed down my progress this year. I only lost 23 lbs from March 23 (when I started MFP) to December 31st, but it's a start, and I learned a lot in…

Are you able to order a la carte? 3 scrambled eggs and a couple of pieces of turkey sausage or bacon works for me.

A cup of nonfat Greek yogurt has about 20gs protein. Where did the other 9 come from, I'm curious

Does the chocolate have to be in the house? Don't buy it, or if you're living with someone who enjoys it, have them hide it for your sake.

I have been diagnosed with Depression and take a lot of medication for it. I don't have a specific diet to recommend, but some suggestions. Stay away from processed food, especially refined carbohydrates and sweets. Pump up the lean proteins and healthy fats like avocado, nuts, and fatty fish to combat cravings. Fruit (in…

Well, I've fallen off the wagon this holiday season. All the cookies and chocolate surrounding me at work, plus hubs bought be lots of chocolate for Xmas. I felt doomed. Afraid to step on the scale. Been binging on chocolate. I know this won't last, but I have to put a stop to this sooner rather than later. :-(

Glad to see you here. Check out the 200lb+ Ladies thread, I post there regularly and find it a great place for support. It gets renewed every month.

Never had it but looks delicious! Yorkshire pudding

I've been losing weight by maintaining a calorie deficit (1500 calories/day) plus one hour of walking daily. No fancy plans, IF, keto, etc. I have drastically reduced my intake of sugar but still make calorie room for a (small) chocolate treat several times a week. Keeps me sane.

It's just hubs and me so no need to have a fancy meal. Basically, it's the same as Thanksgiving (Roast turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans). I made an apple pie, crust and all, it came out FABULOUS! I think it's because I chilled the crust dough overnight so when it hit the hot oven it became really flaky.

Eating sugar/refined carbs is not always the source of cravings. Sometimes just being around said food is enough. Today was a case in point for me. The day before Xmas, and my workplace was full of different kinds of fine chocolates and cookies (some chocolate dipped!). I ate my usual high protein, moderate fat and carb…

I find that when I swear off sugar, the cravings never go away, and I end up binging at some point. I wish I had a dollar for every time I told myself that I'd never eat chocolate (or any carb/sweet combination) again. Maybe the keto strategy will work for some people, but not everyone. I don't understand your sugar free…

I am going to continue to log. I have a goal to reach 175 by New Year's Day and I'm nearly there. Just have to be mindful about eating and continue my daily walks.
-
I have been logging and will continue to log. I don't intend to fill up on foods outside my usual eating preferences and want to ensure that I stay on track. I already had a couple of bouts of holiday-related overeating and don't want it to continue. I don't have family close to me so holiday times are no big shabang for…

Nugo coconut chocolate bars don't work for me. They are made with cane sugar and in my mind are glorified candy bars, despite the protein. They send me into a sugar feeding frenzy. I prefer RX bars. Their sweetness comes from dates so not much "rush". My favorite is the chocolate peanut butter but the chocolate sea salt is…

I don't know if you are in the US, but in the States the government mandates 2 15-minute breaks. I use those for brisk outdoor walking. In addition, I eat my lunch at my desk and use my half hour lunch break for additional walking. Helps a lot for my mood and fitness and keeps those stiff hip joints at bay.

You control what goes in your mouth. You don't have to eat food simply because it's there. I just got through with an office potluck today. Surrounded by sweets/high calorie treats; I ate one chicken and one pork kebab and a boatload of raw veggies (no dip) and left very satisfied. The protein and fiber kept me from…

She could get leaner if she wants to look like a fitness competitor, six pack and all. But I don't recommend it. Those competitors never stay at that degree of leanness year-round, and she shouldn't try. She risks messing with your hormones, skin, hair falling out. She has a terrific year-round level of leanness and as I…

Excellent! I have a potluck and team lunch scheduled for this week, I hope I am as successful as you!

Just my two cents.....I'm sure the more experienced lifters will chime in, but I wouldn't lose any weight at this stage, you look quite fit and lean in your photo, can even see traces of abs in your midsection. I would focus on strength training/adding muscle to what you already have. Glad to see that you don't overdo the…

Welcome to the group! We are a friendly bunch, and I think you will like it here. I am very familiar with yo-yoing myself. I've done it my entire adult life, but this time around I'm determined to lose and maintain. I think you will find posting here fun and motivating.

Thursday, I went over the edge a bit. Came home from work and hubs had made spaghetti and meatballs and Texas garlic toast. A carb heavy meal, the kind of which I never eat. Of course, I had to have it all, and even topped it off with a slice of my homemade pumpkin pie, still in the fridge from Thanksgiving. My portions…

Hi rorymason! I woke up at 3 am too, left hip hurting. Need to do more stretching exercises and probably some banded workouts for hip strength. When will I learn? Kudos for you for making healthier choices, keeping a food diary, and losing weight. The other habits will come. Start out small, like 8 ounces of water and a…

This is skin not joints (but I still consider it inflammation); my skin cleared up and glowed up after radically reducing sugar and carbs from my diet. I used to eat refined carbs and lots of sugar every day (when I was 200 pounds) now my eating habits have changed, and I feel a lot better for it.
