Just checking in. I’m trying to stay patient. That’s got to be my greatest weakness. I want to be able to knock something out in a week or two with a lot of effort but that’s not how it works. That being said, I’ve had some very positive results in the last couple weeks. I’ve lost 15 lbs since May 1. Hard to believe but it’s real. Lost 40lbs since January. MFP was the piece needed to rid my diet of all the insidious fats in sauces and dips that were causing me to break even. Deficit living isn’t fun but it’s manageable. Getting to 230g protein/day is tough, and without protein powder, I wouldn’t get close. Just bought some 5oz sirloins from the butcher that will be my “after dinner protein” to finish the day, pushing me to that 200g mark. In life, I’m pushing myself just as hard. My plate just keeps on getting fuller and fuller. Returning to normal life is great, but it’s a challenge I have been ready for.

  • I’m so happy for you! Keep doing what you’re doing. I’m inspired:)
  • It’s not good to get accustomed to a certain number of lbs per week. Body fat % is a better metric long term. It can be read a number of different ways. I suggest going off of that rather than lbs/wk. as others have said the body will shut itself down at a certain point and adapt metabolically to keep you alive. As it…
  • It’s tough to start because you probably know it’s calories in vs calories out, but how do you know how many calories you are burning?? Finding your body fat % is a good way to find out approximately how many calories you’re burning at rest(with zero activity) A nutrition coach can help you to find this info out, but if…
  • Walking is such a powerful tool for fat loss. Have you considered joining a CrossFit type gym? It’s super tough but the community aspect is great for encouraging yourself and keeping you going. You’ll build some muscle and really get the benefits of vigorous exercise. Anyway keep it up whatever you do!!
  • It’s the story of my life. Ten years ago i literally just gave up and became an agoraphobe. Let my health go completely and ended up 395. It wasn’t until i got off of my prescription medications that i was able to think clearly enough to stop myself. Two years later, i was ready to make the change at 41. Lost 50 lbs since…
  • I know what you mean. Going down in sizes is gonna break the bank for me lol. Great job though!
  • I started doing CrossFit in March and worked my butt off for two months. I didn’t weigh myself because I wanted to give myself a reward in May at my dr. Appointment. I literally thought I had lost 40-50 lbs as if I was a 25 year old… I got on the scale and it was the exact weight I had started at. SERIOUSLY DELUSIONAL I…
  • Great job! You stuck with it and were rewarded. That has to be the greatest feeling.

  • Amazing results there! Please keep it up and keep sharing your progress
  • May 1st I weighed 375 at the dr’s office. That was after two months of CrossFit training. I was crushed when I realized the scale hadn’t moved. Progress was definitely made, just everywhere but the damn scale. So it is with great pride I weighed in this morning at 360. MFP and my diet coach are keeping me on the straight…
  • Just enjoying the breeze in the back yard, listening to Adele and trying not to tear up 🥹😆
  • Thank you. I’ve lost weight before and that is really helpful. I know it’s not gonna come off overnight. It’s a long process. Especially at 42, it’s not like it was at 29 lol
