@quilteryoyo good luck on your race. My emergency go to water bottle is one of those little 200ml juice bottles. Easy to carry in the hand. @tarun_yadavA sorry about the tire. You had to mention a Baconator did cha, dang .....

I've seen wrinkly tummy rolls on photos of others who've lost a bunch but it's actually happening to me now :# Does it ever go away? The final, spare tire, donut, roll, that does not seem to want to ever ever go away, is also definitely very very very noticeable... :# :D

@quilteryoyo I think it's a Velociraptor.... :D Let is snow, let it snow.... @Scott6255 I live in Canada. I have to suck it up lol

Good running everyone. Liked posts lots. 49 of 150kms so far. Was super tired on sunday's run after postholing lots on saturday. Good time to start the taper. Played tour guide for the weekend. Look what's peeking out of the upper left window

Did a Tue/Wed back to back runs 7k/5k. Was feeling a bit sore from the back to back 14k/16k trail runs on the weekend. Everyday, I get reminded I'm no longer immortal...., sigh aging :( On the plus side, we got a break in the weather with Chinook conditions. Our local name for Foehn winds that warms things up. It went from…

@quilteryoyo woop, back at ya

It's still miles better than here. Was -18c this morning. Goretex and handwarmers are your friend :) @quilteryoyo re-race you got this. Just imagine the cold from the north chasing you all the way, better run faster!

Twas a tad nippy run this morning, But I saw an owl! No more than 6 feet from me. Frozen hands was slow with the camera though. Did 15k in -18c/0F temps. Brrrr. Still have to work out some kinks as I'm getting cold from wetting out. Goal this month is 150kms. Allowing for holiday cheer. Got an incoming Chinook so will…

Thats me! lol. Hope your tow gets better soon

Just bought a size 10 pants. I'm a size 12 atm. Was a 14 10 months ago. Let's see in 3 months time. @Siren2024 Today's solo trail run view.

Final tally: 186 of 200km for the month. It's good as I missed a few big days thanks to life and the weather butting in. Today was another trail run in the foothills. -10c at the start, -5c at the end thanks to a Chinook sweeping in. 14km and 330m in elevation gain. Decided to cut it short as the left knee started to…

Not looking forward to tonight's run. :/ Going to be -15c/5f for a 10k. Brrrrr and no, running indoor is not an option. I have a race next month. But if it doesn't kill me, it'll make me stronger... >:)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone

@quilteryoyo postholing happens when you walk in very deep fresh snow and your footprints leaves holes like a a hole for a fence post. Usually shin or deeper tracks. It's a bug bear to walk in, as you have to lift your legs vey high to walk. Imagine sinking into your upper shins and lifting that leg for the next step for…

@SummerSkier thanks for the tips. I use the hand warmers when it's really cold, like 0F kind of cold. When I run on ice, I use cleats. Those have been lifesavers. Funny how I forget things when it's only 8 months since the last cold wet snap. lol @AlphaHowls I find some of that sudden weight gain is water retention. Last…

@AlphaHowls happy birthday! love the nephew lol @martaindale nice runs @Scott6255, @quilteryoyo @Teresa502 thanks, finally thawed out :D

Well did 16.5k in snowy freezing snowing conditions. -12c/10f. Sure is pretty though. Took me a long long long time as some parts with 6 inches of snow on the ground I was just walking/sliding/snowplowing. Hands froze, glove wetted out from inside, need better warmer waterproof gloves. Going to try out a mitten/glove combo…

@quilteryoyo, @Teresa502 @martaindale thanks. Well winter is here. It's been -10c/14f all week and lots of snow. My planned 21k mountain trail run is on hold for the weekend with yesterday and today's snow dump. Had about 9 inches so far. Will be better off with snowshoes for that. Will just do that around town today but I…

@daria0919 thanks. I think the important thing is that you toed the line, even in your dreams. The number of times I've DNF is not funny but I tried. Just wish my dreams were that vivid lol. @quilteryoyo some mild whiplash. Nothing Advil can't fix lol. Beaut of a sunset you had.

Well it had to happen sooner or later. Yesterday's run in the big snowfall and ice was uneventful. But it was fun splashing through the snow. After the run, walking on the train platform to catch my ride, on a little downslope, caught a bit of ice and did a woopsy! 🙄 All those years of martial arts breakfall training…

@SummerSkier those are marvelous morning glories. We have a very very short growing season here. Typically 4 months.....
-
@daria0919 hope your ankle turns out to be better than thought. I've had many scares like that. @Laurz9191 sorry your calf seized up. I usually carry electrolyte salt tabs and that helps a lot when that happens on my long runs. @kgirlhart take care of that niggle. It can creep up on you. I've had shin problems which I…

Did a short 7k last night, all the while dodging non stopping cars at intersections. Maybe I should start carrying a brick. https://cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/granville-island-pedestrian-safety-crosswalk-1.7160751 It'll be 4 months of dark after work outdoor runs from now till end February next year. Feel like a…

I'm a maybe, possibly, not sure if I can help, as I'm also type 2. Was asked by my doc if I wanted to go on Ozempic but I thought to see if I can my A1C down by exercise and diet first. I'm not on Metformin. Started at 7.5 a year ago and now I'm at 6.2. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what's going on for you now, because…

@Emilienewme @quilteryoyo @SummerSkier there is actually a mountain behind those clouds. Par for weather around these bits :D Quilteryoyo - Belated Veteran's Day, from another vet. Sigh, where did the time go.

Go away for a few days and I can't keep up with the posts. To everyone who ran a race, great job! To everyone else, happy Tuesday! I did a trail run to a mountain pass this last Saturday but had to move along, nothing to see. Kinda cool to be in the clouds with snow coming down though. So far 67 of 200ks for the month.
-
Hmmm mini goal(s).... 1) Getting my A1C to 5.7. Am already at 6.2, down from 7.5 earlier once I decided to get my act together. 2) I'm 0.5kg away from getting below 80kg. 3) Ultimately, I want to get to 70-75kg. So close yet so far..... 4) Celebrate #2 with a winter camping trip. 5) Celebrate #3 by spending money. I'll…

Congrats! But as you can see, you're never alone. It's a bit like running a marathon. You're surrounded by thousands of people but during the race, there is no one to talk to. At the end though, lots of chats. Keep it up!

I took 5 days off last week from any running. Just needed the break, plus life getting in the way. Made it up with two back to back 10ks on sat and sun with sunday being a trail run. But now it's really time for a push if I'm going to do the 20 miler/5300ft race on the winter solstice next month. Just hoping to make the…
