@daria0919 thanks. I think the important thing is that you toed the line, even in your dreams. The number of times I've DNF is not funny but I tried. Just wish my dreams were that vivid lol. @quilteryoyo some mild whiplash. Nothing Advil can't fix lol. Beaut of a sunset you had.

Well it had to happen sooner or later. Yesterday's run in the big snowfall and ice was uneventful. But it was fun splashing through the snow. After the run, walking on the train platform to catch my ride, on a little downslope, caught a bit of ice and did a woopsy! 🙄 All those years of martial arts breakfall training…

@SummerSkier those are marvelous morning glories. We have a very very short growing season here. Typically 4 months.....

@daria0919 hope your ankle turns out to be better than thought. I've had many scares like that. @Laurz9191 sorry your calf seized up. I usually carry electrolyte salt tabs and that helps a lot when that happens on my long runs. @kgirlhart take care of that niggle. It can creep up on you. I've had shin problems which I…

Did a short 7k last night, all the while dodging non stopping cars at intersections. Maybe I should start carrying a brick. https://cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/granville-island-pedestrian-safety-crosswalk-1.7160751 It'll be 4 months of dark after work outdoor runs from now till end February next year. Feel like a…

I'm a maybe, possibly, not sure if I can help, as I'm also type 2. Was asked by my doc if I wanted to go on Ozempic but I thought to see if I can my A1C down by exercise and diet first. I'm not on Metformin. Started at 7.5 a year ago and now I'm at 6.2. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what's going on for you now, because…

@Emilienewme @quilteryoyo @SummerSkier there is actually a mountain behind those clouds. Par for weather around these bits :D Quilteryoyo - Belated Veteran's Day, from another vet. Sigh, where did the time go.

Go away for a few days and I can't keep up with the posts. To everyone who ran a race, great job! To everyone else, happy Tuesday! I did a trail run to a mountain pass this last Saturday but had to move along, nothing to see. Kinda cool to be in the clouds with snow coming down though. So far 67 of 200ks for the month.

Hmmm mini goal(s).... 1) Getting my A1C to 5.7. Am already at 6.2, down from 7.5 earlier once I decided to get my act together. 2) I'm 0.5kg away from getting below 80kg. 3) Ultimately, I want to get to 70-75kg. So close yet so far..... 4) Celebrate #2 with a winter camping trip. 5) Celebrate #3 by spending money. I'll…

Congrats! But as you can see, you're never alone. It's a bit like running a marathon. You're surrounded by thousands of people but during the race, there is no one to talk to. At the end though, lots of chats. Keep it up!

I took 5 days off last week from any running. Just needed the break, plus life getting in the way. Made it up with two back to back 10ks on sat and sun with sunday being a trail run. But now it's really time for a push if I'm going to do the 20 miler/5300ft race on the winter solstice next month. Just hoping to make the…

Mid west Canada here Meaning it gets COLD. I usually get my el cheapo running clothes from thrift stores. Fleece mid layers and wind resistant shells are your friend. Fleecy sweatpants. Plenty of deals there. Not out to make a fashion statement. It's freezing I don't care about looks. Make sure you get good headwear like a…

@kgirlhart that is so cool to see...

Happy Halloween everyone. Plan is for a LSD today, lets see.

@tarun_yadavA good deal on all that food!

@quilteryoyo congrats on the size loss! Yea muscle weighs more than fats. Iron doesn't help. I have Thalessemia which is a genetic condition that tends to produce weirdly tiny shaped blood cells, which means they can't carry as much oxygen as normal. So I'm constantly struggling just to keep up in a run. Never been able to…

153 of 175k for the month. 4 days to do 22kms. Probably doable, just need to run one half marathon. lol. :D Blood work came back and I'm now just below the bottom range for hemoglobin levels. Can't do anything about it though as it's genetic. Oh well. @martaindale trust things will turn out right for you. @tarun_yadavA now…

@quilteryoyo it's funny, I used to live in a really hot and humid equatorial place and now it's the complete opposite, but I like the free air conditioning 🤣
-
@Teresa502 Lol thanks. I live in the great white north with maple leaves. This was just and early teaser. There will be colder to come... brrrrr.... :D @tarun_yadavA great run. Maybe 3rd time lucky for your friend. @quilteryoyo this cold and snow was just a warm up. More to come! I chose to live close to the Canadian…

So yesterday we had our first snowfall and sub-zero day at -5c/23f. Brrrr.... Did a 4k to see how things were like. After a whole summer, I've forgotten how to dress for cold :# :D
-
So far 114 of 175km. Nearly there....
-
I need to sign up for activities.... At 82kg rn, 80kg is sooooooo close
-
Can be done if you're that close. Get a good taper in. Rest and recovery are the bywords here.

So far, 57 of 175km for the month. Yesterday was one of those days, where I to drag myself out, did a 7k. Oh and a bum knee had something to do with it. Feeling draggy, how did I do an ultra 3 weeks before? Then I remembered the motivational line the universe sent me before the ultra. The ups and and downs of running as…

@quilteryoyo good workouts! @kgirlhart congrats on the 9 year streak! @tarun_yadavA nice run! @AmunahSki have to "love" Garmin plans some days. @Mari33a I feel you. On those days, I sometimes back off and cut the mileage down. Live to fight another day. Overall my weekly/monthly mileage does go up.
-
Yea my usual summer backpack load for a weekend in alpine terrain these days is 16lbs, give or take. I'm like on a day hike, backpacking. The 12mile/35lb (minimum, usually more) specs comes from the US army's infantry qualification standards. I'm trying to re-live my younger days.. except nowadays I have a lot more aches…

45km of 175km for the month I have another 200km to go before I hit 2000km for the year. Woot. I got me a couple of soft 5kg (11lbs) kettlebells to up the ante for the rucking challenge I set myself. Time for weight training. Looks like another big wind turner is headed for FL. Those out there, stay safe!
-
@Laurz9191 it can both. Most people fast walk. Fast running with a heavy pack is probably not a good idea. I'm trying to aim to be able to do 12 miles in under 3 hrs with a 35lb pack, so I think some jogging will be involved.
-
Oh no! Strava is down! How am I going to see how many hills did I do today? :/ I think I logged 13.5k today Interestingly Garmin Connect is not fully functioning either. Time to bring back out the map, compass and measuring wheel >:) B) :p
-
17k of 175k Getting back into rucking with 6k yesterday with 18lbs. I've forgotten how is it like to move fast with a pack. It got me huffing.
