FEBRUARY 2025 Monthly Running Challenge

Ok latest and final update. Went for an x-ray yesterday.
I did break the right 8th rib at the back. I knew it, just based on past experience. Bummer.
I think I have a lot of broken bits and pieces now
Anyone want to compare war wounds?
So no running for awhile, prob 4 to 6 weeks IIRC. It's a bit disconcerting feeling the rib click and mesh when running not to mention the sudden jolts of pain if I trip or bounce too hard....
Also no upper body exercises.....
The only sucky thing is that I don't have a cast for people to write snide remarks on...
Definitely changes plans for the rest of the year.
Next month is lots of walking!
8 -
01.02 3.2km 25min 7:52/km - 10x 20/40s intervals
03.02 3.2km 25min 7:46/km - 15min faster
05.02 3.2km 25min 7:52/km
19.02 1.2km 9min 7:24/km
20.02 3.0km 24min 8:06/km
21.02 2.0km 15min 7:30/km - tempo
23.02 3.2km 25min 7:49/km - 10x 20s fast
25.02 3.3km 25min 7:29/km - tempo
27.02 4.0km 32min 7:55/km - slow
28.02 3.4km 25min 7:27/km - 10x 20/40s intervals
29.78km
So yesterday running felt like I was constantly on the edge of a bonk, today things worked again. Did mini-intervals after a warmup.9 -
Brutal month for us. The February Injured Reserves list.@WarmJellyfish Have this horrible cough and sore throat.
@yirara Unfortunately I got sick: I inhaled saliva and now have a really bad windpipe inflammation.
@John772016 Unfortunately caught a cold and sinus infection so essentially spent the last 2 days horizontal
@Mari33a My foot has been grumbling
@ContraryMaryMary So now I have a couple of stitches and I’m not allowed to run for two weeks.
@daria0919 Ever since shoveling snow for a couple of days earlier this week my ankle/foot pain has returned
@chris_in_cal I got laid out by a bicyclists.
@tarun_yadavA I have an inflamed posterior tibialis tendon by the navicular (And I get a sore ar$e from the bike and the rower)
@Laurz9191 I had some chaffing issues myself today
I feel nearly whole. I'm looking forward to a healthy March for me, and all of us runners here.11 -

Wow, we're quite a bunch of broken runners! I hope everyone's doing better again! I'm still coughing up mucus, but things are much better.

Gosh, February has been a tough month for us. But hey, it’s now March and we’re all, hopefully, on the mend.6

Welcome @riscutt. You did great in Feb. Join us in the March thread.
@Laurz9191 Sounds like an amazing run! Glad that much water didn't upset your stomach. Big CONGRATS on your most mileage for a month!
So sorry you broke a rib @WarmJellyfish ! Sounds like you have a great attitude about it and know that you can at least get some walking in to keep up with the exercise. I hope you heal quickly!
We did have a rough time during Feb. Hopefully March will be much better!
Congrats to everyone who met their goal or got out there and gave it the old college try! You're all winners in my book!7 -

80.00/80 miles goal
It was tough, but made my goal for Feb.
I went to the gym this morning and had an arm workout...kettle bell, assisted pull up, chest fly, and ball slams. Seems like maybe something else, but it has escaped me if I did.
I walked half a mile for warm up before my workout and another 0.6 miles for cool down afterwards.
I was wiped out after I got home, so sat on the couch for a little bit and wound up taking a short nap, which I think I really needed. After I got up, I made myself do another treadmill wun in order to meet my goal.
Since I knew I wasn't going to do a long run, I ran 1 min each at 4.5-6.0 mph, walking a total of 2 min toward the end at 4.0 mph. Splits were 11:56 and 11:34 min/mile (all the walking was during the last half mile, but so were the faster paces). Avg HR was 135 with a max of 159 bpm.
I figured up the month stats and had 4h33m46s of strengthening at the gym in addition to the running and walking. I spent a total of 23h25m50s in intentional exercise. So close to an entire day.

I originally planned to finish off my goal but by the time I got home from work I didn't have it in me. I toyed around with the idea of just doing a walk but ultimately talked myself into a short easy run. I knew I would be glad I did it and I am. Missed my goal by 2 miles but that's ok.6 -

148.52/125 miles completed for February
Posting two runs again. I got out Thursday for 6 miles. I overslept a little so really didn't have time, but it was another nice morning so I felt I had no choice. 😊
Today I ran 4 miles. It was kind of cold again, but still pretty nice. I got the "new to me" watch in the mail s o today was my first run with it. So far I am liking it a lot. Thanks again @chris_in_cal It used the information that was already in garmin connect and says I am productive. I guess we will see how long that lasts.
I finished February with 148.5 miles. I was a little surprised since it was a short month. See you all over in the March thread.
Sorry about your ribs @WarmJellyfish Hopefully next month will be better.7 -
@WarmJellyfish I meant to say that sounds particularly horrid. It shows how bad your cough was that you broke a rib! It's so tough to be patient while it heals. But the good news is that @tarun_yadavA is not posting too much so you won't be forced to laugh right now. 🤪7
-
You're doing great @brnlow .
Great running @martaindale . It is hard to get out after work some days.
Awesome mileage @kgirlhart . Glad you are liking the watch. That was so sweet of you @chris_in_cal .

Yesterday was totally shite and didn't work at all. Today wasn't as good as can be, but much better. Lets see whether the next run is miserable again 🤣1 -
