Morning all, strongman training going well, hoping to get 172 5kg conv deadlift at 79kg bodyweight this week. Priced up strongman training but just way too expensive, may buy the kit myself! Comp is still scheduled for June. Dead impressed with Redcon1 Pump pre workout! Happy Monday, enjoy your week all!

I'd say do it for longevity overall, do you want to potentially pass away early? Surely you dont want to be hauled into hospital for something you could have potentially prevented? In terms of exercise, don't like gym no problem, could find a sport of any kind, sometimes actually its about the friends you make in a sports…

Very helpful @Retroguy2000, will watch this after work, as always, appreciate your responses.

Appreciate the answer is eat more but on budget & the bmr and exercise calculations seem to be wrong?

Its nearly 10pm in the UK, just back from gym and watching J a c k a s s 4.5, they dont make them like this anymore (apart from impractical jokers - US version).

Its 9pm in the UK and just finished strongman training, knackered!

Sure mate haha

Yeah I am about 1g per lb, so c. 170ish

Honestly, everyone has conflicting gram per kg/lb of bodyweight. Dr Mike who has a PhD says anywhere post 0.8g of protein per 1kg of bodyweight is pointless. You have Kuba Cielen who says 1g to 2.5g per 1lb of bodyweight. I think its really really hit and miss guidance, for me, I use a machine once a week at the same time…

Pump cover v.s. no pump cover - Thinking of cutting more, not a clue how to filter, just olde fashioned photos.

Best of luck with your fitness journey, small steps and consistency!

I agree, most of my viewing/reading is those with PhDs or similar with no conflicts of interest or limited conflicts of interest. I actually found investing in myself paid dividends, done my UK PT qualification, looking to maybe do a PT specialisation with ISSA or NASM (Think its called), more knowledge is always welcomed…

- Get an experienced personal trainer. - Get the above to show you compound movements - Deadlift, Squat, Bench and Overhead Press - Form is EVERYTHING and safety first, hence trainer is important. - Supplements - Protein powder, creatine thats it, dont spend money on 'muscle builders' and pre workouts can be laced with…

This is spot on advice.

I relate to this, I lost 41kg over a year, now I eat c. 2k to 2.2k calories a day, to avoid fat gain, once at maintain cals eat in a surplus of 200 to 300, clean food, protein intake 1g to 2.5g per lb of bodyweight, carbs pref do complex carbs, wholegrain and sweet potatoes, nothing wrong with simple carbs before heavy…

Completely agree, tonnes of knowledge

If you are not on any medication that affects metabolism (strong psych meds can do this). Simple solution, bugger off cardio (apart from walking everywhere you can, lift weights and eat less. Saves you ££££ and injecting yourself like a druggy.

Great post. Short answer, yes, if they are influencing people and acting for the brand. There are people who do this - Gym Reaper (Josh Baker) on youtube who is a brand ambassador for Silverback Gymwear & Applied Nutrition. However, most gymwear brands don't have the same transparency.

I bloomin hate influencers, credible sources (scientific or data driven) is where it is at. There was an influencer this weekend who said veg and fruit had no carbs, honestly.... You have 14 yr old kids on Tren, clothing brands using AI generated models showing unrealistic body types, weightloss drug companies saying its…

Best answer I can give you is do your research and avoid fad diets, stopping yourself from eating major food groups leads to loss of micronutrients and can cause serious issues in the long run. I did tonnes of research, tried intermittent fasting and I enjoyed doing it, I did this unconsciously for years when I was younger…

Conv barbell deadlift is where its at!

@LiveFit2025 has hit it on the nail, literally what I was about to write!

Thank you for the honest answer and your story too, it's great advice. I will focus on reps for now rather than just chasing a pb after a pb!

Watched cocaine bear on netflix (so funny), now morning coffee before chest and tri's in the gym. Since I stopped taking sugar post xmas my weight is going down (despite eating 2,000+ cals a day cleanly) so will need to eat more! Enjoy your Sunday folks!
