  • Stroutman81 First I'd like to say thanks for all the advice you post to help us mortals. After reading several of them I thought I would post to you my delema. I'm currently around 170lbs 5'10" male. I've lost around 137lbs so far and I'm looking to lose just a little more. I've been sitting at the same weight for over 3…
  • I've started it also. It's appropriately named. I was actually suprised I did as well as I did. Had trouble with some of the "ground work" because of a bad knee. Lets see who can get to the end.
  • Dinos, When I hit a plateau I have learned to re-examine my eating. it has always been because of small indulges that has caused the problem or portion size. Having a plateau for a couple of weeks is normal but any longer check your eating habits and change up some of your workouts.
  • Cycling. Lots of it for long periods. Believe me I have a lot in my legs and butt. Thats the short answer.
  • I suggest you go to a specialty store as suggested. From one style to another can make a big difference. I use Asics and have for years. Be sure to tell them they are for running and they will look at your walk and make suggestions.
  • Embrace cycling! It's a great form of exercise. You will see an increase in muscle tone in your legs and butt. You should also see an increase in core strength and cardio ability. I ride between 100 to 180 miles a week. I didn't start out that way. When I started about a year ago I could just do 10 miles that was basically…
  • I use chocolate flavored protein and sometimes I mix it with orange juice as a recovery drink. Taste like an orange julius.
  • Congratulations on swimming. It's great for fitness and is totally different than any other exercise. I've done a lot of cardio workouts and was really surprised when I started swimming that I was getting out of breath. The breathing and cardio requirements are totally different then any other sport. When your running or…
  • My experience with using one for years is that it's just a guide to give you an idea of about how much you're burning.
  • After a workout you want to consume 15-30 grams of protein within the first hour. Best results are from shakes because it absorbs quickly. Then you want to consume another 15-20 within 2 hours of the workout but you want that from a good solid food protein. Like salmon, chicken or turkey. Additionally you want to take in…
  • LMAO with this thread!!!!!
  • I have this saying on my refrigerator it reads.... YOU CAN QUIT AND NO ONE WILL CARE, BUT YOU WILL ALWAYS KNOW. Remember when you quit, YOU quit. It is regreteful when you do and you realize that you still had enough to do more. I go through the same battle. The battle of your mind telling you to stop because of a thousand…
  • Polar is the one to get. I have a Polar F1, S210 and RS800CX.
  • 7 days a week, yes it is to much. Eating right is the first thing you should do. Do your workouts in the 65-75% max heart rate zone for an hour. Weight train 3 days a week and change up your cardio and you'll be on the right track.
  • Good luck! I just finished day 90 yesterday. 32lbs. I'm going to keep going with the program for another 90 days.
  • Congrates on the purchase. I truly believe in them. I also got a book on training with a HRM which was very interesting to read how to maximize your workouts.
  • Its not all together bad. Change up your exercise to something different. The eliptical works great. I changed over to cycling outside and it has been awesome. Getting a great workout and still losing weight. If you love to run then let it heal properly. When to start running again change to trail running to lessen the…
  • If you don't have a running store in your town then contact a pro. I use www.roadrunnersports.com Call them and they will help you select the right kind of shoe. I've been member for about 14 years. One great thing about them and being a member you have a 60 warranty on the shoes you buy. You use them and they are not…
  • All Polar HRM can be used in the water. So if you swim you can manage you HR and calories burned. It is true that if you use your HRM at the gym you could get the code from another person. I just use the transmitter and use the display on the cardio machine. I don't use the watch. I have a S210 that I am sending out today…
  • brisk walk for no less that 3 months. The start a walk/run program till you can run the entire time. Then work towards that marathon.
  • Stick with Polar. They are the very best and most gym cardio equipment have Polar receivers built in so all you have to do is wear the band and it transmits to your display. A simple one would be the F series. basic function of measuring and you can set high and low. I find myself using this one most often. I have a S…
  • AWESOME!!!!! It just keeps getting better!!!
  • Cut back on the cardio some. Your losing muscle because your workouts are to intense. I'm a big advocate of a heart rate monitor. I've said it in other posts. You need to work on low intensity endurance workouts. Long and slow. Look at it this way, olympic runners. Ever notice that sprinters are larger than marathon…
  • Use a heart rate monitor. Get an inexpensive Polar on eBay. I'm a big advocate for heart rate monitors because it is a true measure of effort. For losing weight you want to work in the fat burning zone. 60%-75% max heart rate. On the cycle you want you ride to be about 90 minutes. At this heart rate it is a very light…
  • ha! I did one once and it kicked my butt! I thought she was trying to kill me. I asked her if she knew my exwife. lol
  • Most think it's lots of sit ups. It's not. Some of it is going to be genetics. Some of us are just not made to show the ripped abs. In order to show those abs you have to work off the fat around the muscles. Lowering you body fat. Cardio is the best way and to work in the fat burning zone. Maintaining a max heart rate…
  • I use www.roadrunnersports.com. Becoming a members save me tons of money especially buy shoes. Free shipping.
  • 5 weeks is a little much. I would accept once a week. The idea is for you not to get discouraged by the daily ups and downs or when you think you've done well and you hadn't lost any weight. It kind of like watching kids grow, if you see them every day you don't see it as much as when you don't see them it's like wow...…
  • Don't cut your calories to low. I take in 2000 a day and still lose weight with working out. Most people think you have to go out and bust your butt working out. You don't. The best investment is a heart rate monitor. Maintain a workout at 60%-70% of your max heart rate for 45 minutes or more and you will be in the sweet…
