Great workout. Hope you have partners lined up to help push and motivate you. I could never have gotten through without my "team". Best of luck.

You know, I once heard a guy say "life is a trap" (it was Aeneas Williams, but that's unimportant for our purposes) and it is very true. There are so many things to get tripped up on: what does the scale say? what does the measuring tape say? what does the doctor say? wife/husband/boyfriend/kids/neighbors say? Just keep…

Best Tip. Get a partner. Someone who is there through thick and thin (hopefully literally). Who won't quit on you. 6 days a week, for 9 weeks. I don't think I know anyone who has done this successfully alone. PS, good luck!!

My favorite is when people I haven't seen for a while look shocked and say "I didn't recognize you". I think some of my NSV's are: Running for 30 minutes without stopping. Being a "Large" with no X's Airplane seats/concert seats/having to adjust my car seat. towels, or should I say Towel. Last weekend, going shirtless at…

You know if you watch sports, you will see people at the peek of fitness being criticized. Some people just have to look to others to get their self image. Some of us look to others and we see our flaws and some of us look to others in order to feel superior. Are you running for any of these people who are mocking you? Pop…

Club Fitness on 5th Street or 94 Hwy. Katy Trail, My Neighborhood or the gym at our church in Ferguson for Insanity!

difference companies. Different locales. Different workers it would seem.

Wow,, awesome job!! keep it up!!.

Sometimes ellipticals are good "rest". Less pressure on the legs and joints, but you still get the cardio in that you'll need with running. Just build up slowly and listen to your body. Running can be great fun!!

I've lost 100lbs in the past 12 months. Until I started Couch to 5k, I was never losing inches off of my stomach. Crunches, planks, weights, biking like a fiend. Running is great exercise. Get good shoes. Get good advice. Run a little, then run a lot. It is sooooo worth it. If it's above 34 degrees run outside. If it's…

• Gender: M • Age: 46 • Starting weight: 371 (361 "official MFP" start) • Current weight: 264.8 • Goal weight: 230-240 • What are your reasons for wanting to lose/gain weight? (Please state which) I finally got tired of being fat. My health. The fact that purposely destroying my body was sinful. • Tell me a bit about your…

I am starting Insanity! on Monday. It will be our 3rd 9 week session in the past year. I would say one tip that I haven't seen on here yet is to get at least 1 friend that is motivated to workout with you daily. Someone who will show up everyday and motivate you. The DVD is only so encouraging, but Shaun T can't see you…

I would preface this by saying that most of the races I've done were enjoyable, but I think by "fun" you mean gimmicky? St. Charles, MO has a "Santa Dash". It was like 2,000 people all dressed up in red long sleeve tech shirts, beards, Santa hats and gloves. It was pretty amazing to stand at the start with that many people…

"How did you do it?". Most people who ask me this question get very sad look when I answer them honestly. There is no shortcut. You have to change your life, if you want to change your life. Move more than you eat. Even if it's a slow walk. If it's only 3 reps. If it's only 5 minutes. Then the next time you do it, do more.…

This is the move. I put mine in a muffin pan. Then into a pot of ice water right away to stop the cooking. Perfect every time. Not dry at all.

I cut out red meat in July of last year. Mostly, it was to give myself a challenge and something to focus on besides "losing weight". It gave me a small victory each day in order keep myself charged up. I agree with the earlier poster, that it comes down to calories. I think 100 calories of chicken and 100 calories of…

My biggest problem is thinking I'm getting this all down pat. "A little this" and "a little that" won't mess me up. Or as I approach the 100lb mark, thinking that I am done. That I've gotten to where I am wanting to go. Setting my mind on what is the mission every single day.

I would highly suggest a shoe fitting. I run in 2 pairs of shoes. 1 from my local running shop (Brooks) and another paid I grabbed because I liked the looks of them (Nike). I never have any issues with my "fitted" shoes. I can run pain free and for maximum distances. I simply love those shoes. I actually used what I…

I am registered to run in my first 1/2 marathon on April 6th (Go! St. Louis). Started running last June with C25k. Did a mile run on Labor Day,have done a few 5 k, 1 8k and 1 10k since then. I am super excited about completing the 1/2. I run outside 2 or 3 days a week, with long training runs on Saturdays, if I don't do a…

Hey is anyone training for Go! St. Louis? Or Mo' Cowbell? Or just running in general in local 5k's? A friend and I run nearly every Saturday morning in St. Charles. Working up to a steady 10 miles and eventually 13.1 in time for the Go! St. Louis run in April 6th. We run about a 11:30/mile. Always welcome some other guys…

I was 370 when I joined my gym last February. I am 285 now. Work and sweat and watch everything you eat. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy food and life; just remember that actions have consequences. Good and bad. Just Go!!!

I believe that the best past of the journey is being able to present the person that was hiding inside all the layers of fat I had compounded. Having fun with my wife working out and doing active things. Enjoying eating and not just eating to fill a hole in my day. Being able to have control over things; giving things up…

Layers. Get a good base layer that will keep you warm. Layer above it with layers that can zip open as you warm up to release heat. Sweat wicking of course. Check out Target, I think their C9 brand is excellent for the money. Then stretch really well, warm up as much as possible. Lastily, if you are running outside…
