  • Well...it's been so long since I've posted that I can't remember how to respond to someone else's post! Meg...I had the main level of my house painted over the summer so I can understand what you're going through!! Every night I had to clean after the painters left! I was very happy with the outcome and hope you are as…
  • Hi! I haven't posted in the community in a long time. I started using myfitnesspal in 2010 to track after I had gastric bypass surgery. I was successful for awhile but I gained back over half of the weight I lost. I started tracking and working out again in April 2021 and have lost 75 pounds so far but the holidays remind…
  • Hi, I started using the app again in April and have lost 75 pounds so far. Over the holidays I gained about 2 pounds which my friends tell me not to worry about. But I am worried! This is how it all starts and I gain! My goal today was to eat within my calorie limit and go to the gym. I went to the gym and so far so good…
  • I had gastric bypass surgery in 2009 and about 6 months after my hair was thinning a lot. I made sure I had enough protein and I also took Hair, Skin, & Nails which I found at WalMart. Unfortunately I cannot tell you how long it took to come back because I don't remember. If I had to guess I would say at leat 8 months.…

  • Yes I did get the flu shot. Even though I work in a clinic with state regulations stating if employees do not get the flu shot they have to wear a mask I would get the flu shot anyways. One year I did not get the flu shot, this was when I worked elsewhere, and I ended up getting the flu. I do not want to go through that…
  • I've been battling about 50-60 pounds since last year. I'd lost 165 pounds and then life and my emotions sort of took over again...very frustrating! I was able to lose 15 over the summer but unfortunately have gained it back yet again...
  • That's fantastic!!! :flowerforyou: Congratulations!!!
  • Great job Mindy!! :flowerforyou: I occasionally will eat brown rice, brown pasta, or sweet potatoe and have been able to lose. I've lost about 26 pounds since June...I'm at the cusp of my first goal!! LOL!! Personally I think I'm better off staying away from pasta and rice but I work with a trainer who says sometimes we…
  • I did te 5 Day Pouch test in June and it was exactly what I needed!! I had RNY on 2009 and lost a lot of weight. Throughout last year and the begining of this year I gained about 60 pounds. I have been able to get back in touch with hunger and fullness by doing the pouch test. Even if there isn't a lot of people who…
  • I would think an eating disorder will not just go away based on the amount of calories you are eating. I've been seeing a therapist for a few months and this is helping me a lot. Have you considered finding a social worker who specializes in eating disorders? It might be helpful.
  • I had to do a 6 month weight loss class for my insurance company before begining the procedure at the doctor's office. Every single day during that time I changed my mind. I too was worried about all the food I would never be able to eat again. One day I realized it wasn't actually the food but what the food…
  • Forgot the most important part: MUSIC!! I've been listening to 30 Seconds to Mars while working out.
  • Alarm goes off at 5 AM I'm usually out of bed by 5:15 and out the door by 5:45. Sometimes I'll eat blueberries or strawberries on the way to the gym. I drink water with crystal light all throughout the day. After my workout I'll have a protein shake with just water...not the greatest tasting but takes the edge off until I…
  • Congratulations!!! :flowerforyou:
  • You probably need to eat more. Try doing a day of higher carbs and then 3 days of lower carbs. Have you changed up your workouts? That's all I got. :flowerforyou:
  • I like the chocolate brownie quest bars. I put them in the microwave for 15 seconds. I like the low carb and how protein.
  • I eat blueberries or strawberries on my way to the gym. After workout I'll have a protein shake before my shower. Once I get to work I have breakfast which is half a cup of egg whites, one egg and a string cheese.
  • Hi again..I did the 5 Day Pouch Test and it helped me A LOT! It's 5 days of going back to basics. First 2 days are liquid, 3 day is soft protein, then medium protein, then firm protein. It helped me get back in touch with my hunger and to realized most of my eating has been emotional.
  • I lost 165 pounds...got down to a size 6 and still thought I was fat. It's something I know I will struggle with my whole life.
  • I get frustrated when I weigh in more than twice a week. I notice the scale going up and down so much it makes me crazy!!
  • I understand exactly what you're saying about being embarrassed at the gym. People use to tell me no one was watching me they are concentrating on their own workout...I didn't believe it...but I kept going to the gym. I don't feel as self-conscience as I use to. I guess I just got use to going and the more I went the more…
  • Well said! :flowerforyou:
  • Great job!! There's lots of encouragement here!
  • 1 egg, 1/2 cup egg whites, string cheese, onions, peppers and sometimes a slice of deli turkey. I mix it all together, throw in the microwave at work for about a minute and a half...easy and yummy!

  • Please do not make yourself throw up...that is a very dangerous and addicting habit to get into!! Put on loose fitting clothing, sit or lie down and take slow deep breaths. Try to relax, put on some soothing music or a tv show you like that isn't too intense. This feeling will pass. You are not the only one this has…
  • All of the above! Fish too; I love salmon and tilapia. Canned tuna fish also with a little fat free mayo. eggs are good. Special K protein plus with skim milk. there are some good protein powders out there as well. I use body fortress chocolate whey protein from walmart. I put in some ice cubes, water or skim milk and a…

  • A couple weeks ago I returned to myfitnesspal and I am so glad I did!! :flowerforyou:
  • My adult nephew told me I took the easy way out when I had surgery. It was very upsetting. Overall my experience has been positive. However a coworker at my old job told me if I got into a size lower than an 8 she wouldn't talk to me...and I don't think she was kidding. One thing that was annoying was everyone asking how…
