Off to a good start! Miracle Miles 1 mile workout before we head to family celebration.
-
I'm in! I'd like to follow my Miracle Miles set but the workouts sometimes aggravate my back issues. My goal is to substitute the elliptical or another DVD - just NOT QUIT! I'd like to lose about 20 pounds this year and I'm grateful to have found this group!

I for one admire anyone who can live the vegan lifestyle! And there are tons of studies that show it is the healthiest diet for heart disease and autoimmune disease. <3

What an inspiring story! Thank you for sharing and congratulations on your success! I'd be interested in what a typical day looks like for you food wise.

Me too!! :s

30 min treadmill walk and logged everything so far today. Off to a good start. :)

Hello from Michigan! I'll be starting today!

I'm in!!!

Check out Garden Lites muffins. They have yummy flavors like chocolate, chocolate chip, blueberry - but they are mainly made from veggies like zucchini. They are frozen and at my store they are by the veggie burgers.

OMG - I love this post. Ok, I'll confess... I actually ate at least 4 lemon Oreos in the car on my home from my mom's (she only lives a mile away) rather than eat them in front of my husband.... then snuck 4 more later in the kitchen while he was watching tv!

I'd say look at it like a lifestyle. Are you never going to have cake again - of course not. Have a piece of cake if you want it. Maybe account for it in what you eat the rest of the day - say if you are having a celebration dinner and cake, maybe go lighter at lunch and breakfast. Maybe exercise a little bit more. And the…

Ashleighhunter92 - if you are still reading this thread that has gone way astray... I tend to eat a lot of the same things too, but I'll share what has worked - I am doing South Beach so I eat beans so I do a lot of chili, chicken chili, etc. You could make a no-bean version if you aren't including beans. Also the flavored…

For me I think it is a combination. I think focusing on eating lower carb has helped me stay in my calorie range easier than simply counting calories. I know it seems weird but it works for me. Secondly, I think I retain a lot of water and tend to eat all the wrong type of foods. Eating less carbs (by that I mean refined…

I struggle with arthritis too - mostly in my spine and hips. For me yoga has been a tremendous help. If you can, what worked well for me was a private one-on-one session with a yoga instructor (from a yoga studio, not a fitness center) who can customize a program for you based on your needs. I also found the elliptical is…

@helma62 I sent a friend request - you and I are in the same boat! Everyone on here is so inspiring! Feel free to friend me if anyone's interested.

Sorry for the late reply, Canndicer, I just saw this. I am hypothyroid and I think that contributes to low vitamin D. Living in Michigan's climate doesn't help either. LOL My parathyroid was enlarged because it was compensating for the low vitamin D and went back to normal after going on the prescription level - so he…

Great video! Thanks!

Well, apparently I'm a little late coming to the party... but if you are still taking questions, I have one. Did you strictly count calories according to what MFP assigned you, or did you follow a specific diet or track macros? In other words, did you do something such as say low carb, or keep track of your carbs (or…

Canndicer I am also on 50,000 iu prescription vitamin d. My endocrinologist said I'd probably be on it forever.

Also chili reheats for a quick lunch. Depending if you allow yourself beans or not - I have not been able to make a no bean chili that tastes very good.

I like to use the flavored tuna pouches (Starkist herb & garlic) and mix it with either some broccoli florets or asparagus - you could use any veggie - and nuke it for a minute or two. Or it's good cold too. One tuna pouch is 1 net carb plus whatever veggies.

Amen to that! I want to be middlehaitch when I grow up too!! Dang, girl! ;)

Hi all - I'm 53 and peri-menopausal. I love hearing from those of you who have had success - I have been questioning whether calorie counting is enough or if I need to focus on low-carb, etc. I think I'm just procrastinating while I figure out "what diet to do." :s Congrats to those of you who have been successful…

My endocrinologist also recommended a higher protein lower carb diet. Not drastic like the 20 net carbs of Atkins, but more lean meat, fruits and veggies limit the pasta and rice, etc. I did South Beach a couple of years ago and I felt much better - more energy, no mid afternoon slumps, and actually had enough energy to…

NoelFigar1 - I would recommend seeing an endocrinologist if possible. My GP kept saying my results were normal after I was on meds for a year and my symptoms started to return. I knew from my symptoms that my meds needed adjusting. Sure enough - the endocrinologist said the results were NOT normal - they were so low he…

Congratulations! Amazing transformation! Boy, can I relate to the "I spent 10 years starting tomorrow" statement. I spent more time analyzing and thinking about "what diet should I do" than actually DOING anything! Seeing your story and others that are similar it lets me know it can be done with good ol' calorie counting…

Thanks. That's so encouraging to hear. Congrats again - nice job! (*)

Wow - Congrats to all! Thank you all for sharing your inspiring photos! They are so motivating!

Wow! What an amazing transforamtion. Huge congrats to you!! Thank you for sharing and inspiring. Just when I was wondering if MFP was really the way to go... got my answer here! ;) Thank you. Well done!
