Lack of sleep is a huge. It puts you in fight or flight and spikes cortisol. I am convinced some people are banging their head against a wall running on empty.

I am right now and have for a long time. It happens at night. I get up and gorge like an animal. I think ai may need to see a therapist. I see people who have lost 50 pounds or more but there is no way I can accomplish that if I consume 4000 calories at 2 am.

For me I get bored with calisthenics and maybe because they are hard. I kind of enjoy lifting weights. I have a theory in that calisthenics are better for weight loss as being lighter makes calisthenics easier. There are some freaky fears of strength a few people can do just with there body.

I can't have a wife and kids and spend money on pre workouts. Caffeine works for me and some good music. I have read that whey protein is necessary and creatine a second. No need to get fancy and pay a lot.

A 3 day a week split is great. You can have a form of a squat, a pull, and a push. A program that makes sense is called starting strength. It is similar to the 5x5 listed above. If I could do it all over again I would do that one. Of course the best workout is the one you will do.
