MFP is what it is because of its community. I'm a bit confused by your post. If you're Mr Motivation, and feel that support is not necessary (good for you!), then why are you on the Motivation & Support thread long enough to make a post complaining about people asking for motivation and support. Maybe.. just maybe.. there…

I'm 24 and have 120/130lbs to lose and 2 years to do it in! I eat dairy free. Feel free to add me.

I set one up the other day with the intention of keeping numbers low so it's more personal. Pop me a message if you want to join. There are only a few of us

I think those close to us can really hurt us and give our self esteem a knock. But ultimately, no one can make you fat but you. I am from a fat family. Parents, Grandparents, all big. My mum spent my childhood on diets, and was open about her body dissatisfaction. Yes, it made me aware of my body from a young age. My…

I also have anxiety and depression. I'm not bipolar but I am agoraphobic with OCD. I can relate to the struggle. I am my biggest critic, which puts me in a food-hate cycle. I have set up a small support group for people who struggle with motivation if you want to join? Just pop me a message.

My other half is the same. He cant cook (wont learn), wants to lose weight, but when I give him his meal he looks at me with a 'where is the rest?' face. He wants to lose weight without changing his junk food habits and to remain sat on the sofa. And the thing that annoys me is.. he lost 5 lbs in 2 weeks. I gained 1!

I'm losing weight for my wedding too. Although it's not until 2018, to give me enough time to lose it all!
-
He did say women shouldn't lift heavy. Then referred to the New Rules of Weight Lifting for Women as "feminism gone wild".
-
It seems no one can ask advice anymore without someone saying the poster is being antagonistic or the post seems dodgy I'm new to lifting. I wanted advice to get the most out f my sessions. It's confusing when a weight loss community say one thing and a qualified trainer says another. I just wanted opinions.
-
Having thought about it since posting. I think the reason he refuses to allow women to heavy lift is because they have "kindly" created a WOMEN'S ONLY weight section full of barbie bells and even a low weight barbell
-
It's just the membership, not a training contract. I'm going to check out some you be tube vids on form. If nothing else, it will make me feel more comfortable lifting at home.
-
If she agrees with him then I will ask her to talk to me about her thought process and ask why the general consensus is that low weights are less effective. I have seen her training other women using high weights low reps, so I assume she disagrees with her husband. If not, hopefully I will gain some insight into how her…

I think I'm going to ask his wife when she's next there. I'm tied in for a year contract so I have to make the best of it! I did speak to another trainer about form but he gave me a 30 second walk through, without weights, just showing me arm movements then went back to chatting up something on tinder. He's known for not…

I love this! Yes my toddler is 30lbs. I can throw him in the air and wave him around. He has me lifting 10lbs! I feel like I'm stood there playing with a feather!
-
He insists that 25 reps is what needs to be done. When I'm at home I use more than double the weight he has listed and do around 12 reps and that seems to make me feel like I've actually done something. But the thing I worry about at home is whether my form is okay.

She trains herself sadly! She's a personal trainer. I'd go to her but I'd have to sell a kidney to afford it!
-
I have that book, that's what I took with me to show him and he flicked through it and laughed. I just want to use my gym time productively as it only have time for 3 sessions a week.

I suppose it depends what you class as rock n roll . I love music from the 1950/60s all the way through classic rock and up to modern rock/alternative music. You can add me if you like.

I have 120/130 lbs to lose and I can't seem to make it 24 hours without going wrong! Feel free to add me.

I'm 9 months post-partum and breastfeeding. I have 120lbs to lose though. People say breastfeeding makes weight loss easier, but I've always found it much harder to lose weight in that first year. Feel free to add me :)

I can relate! I have 120 lbs to lose. And I have 18 months to lose it in for my wedding. My goal was 80lbs for this year, but I've spent 2.5 months battling the same 5lbs! It's just a motivation issue for me, and a stress eating battle. Having such a big number to lose can feel impossible. But you CAN do it
-
Im not entirely sure what you're asking. Are you wanting to lose 5lbs? Or lose 5lbs per week?
-
Somerset. I have 120lbs to lose!

Stress. I use chocolate and a cup of tea to keep calm. An apple and water just doesn't cut it. I'm working on that.

This is my favourite comment. My OH has gained 5 stone in under 3 years. He's 6'3 so he carries it off well. But still looks very chubby. Sometimes I look at him and think WOW, you're a really beautiful person.
-
I have over 100lbs to lose. And I always feel judged, like people find it gross and don't want to be my friend. But I have come to realise that it's because that's how I feel about myself. I'm giving off a closed off, unhappy vibe because I feel so desperately unhappy with myself and can't understand why anyone wants to…

I have 120lbs to lose. Feel free to add me :)

I'm in the UK :) feel free to add :)

There is support.. Then this is asking someone you don't know to take time out of their day, every day, to convince you to exercise. If you can't do it for yourself, it's not going to happen. Sorry to be blunt, but it's your life.

I have a similar amount to lose. I'm in Somerset UK.Feel free to add me :)
