I am! Sometimes you just don't work out romantically, but that doesn't mean you can't as friends. Shoot, my ex is actually officiating my wedding! If the split was amicable and the adults involved actually know how to behave as adults, there shouldn't be a problem.

I weigh in once a week at about the same time, before breakfast and after I've used the bathroom :) HOWEVER, I skip aunt flow week because I know it'll be jacked up-so I don't even bother. Having a healthy relationship with food/exercise is very, very important to me. If anything starts going the way of obsessiveness, I…

I am in love with my Sodastream. It is now my favorite kitchen accessory, and I use it ALL THE TIME. You can make a healthy fizzy water with fresh fruit floating around, you can have the soda for your scotch and soda, or you can make any cola you dream of (and have more control of how much sugary syrup goes into the…

I'm tethered to a desk and potentially have confrontations eight hours a day.

BINGO! I do squats and push ups more often that I clean the house. I do a big clean on either Saturday or Sunday. I turn on music, and go at it for 2-3 hours. I move furniture, I climb up and down stairs, I climb up and down chairs since I'm so short ;) I carry water pails, etc, so I count it too. However I just count all…

I have a desk job (therefore my setting is on sedentary) and only do housework in a long stretch on the weekend, including laundry with the machines in the basement, so I count these things because I do not do them regularly, and I usually work up a sweat. I keep it at light/moderate though, and round down on the time to…

My goal is to have a healthy relationship with food. I do see where this site can, for those that are prone, to become obsessive about food; simply going from binging to meticulously examining every morsel before they consume. Logging makes me more aware-keeps me from consuming an entire bucket of chicken, makes me feel…

I worked there when I was in college. Its not something people think about often, but look at the kids menu! Also, ask for the broccoli without butter, and you can also ask for things without salt.

^^^^^^^^ THIS!!!!

I understand where you are coming from completely. Kinda like trading one end of the food obsession for the other? I don't use a food scale. Why? Because is damn weird, that's why. What normal person measures out every morsel of food before they put it in their mouth? Really? I'm a smart girl. I know what healthy eating…

Low thyroid function creates a situation where you unfortunately have to be even more strict that the average person. It sucks. It really really does. It is not fair. However, your body wants to hold on to weight. You will have to actually count calories and move as much as you possibly can in order to make headway.

You can make a much fresher tasting, low cal margarita on your own. Experiment at home with fresh lime/lemon/oj and maybe a little sugar. You can use a sugar substitute, but I've banned those chemicals from my body when possible. Good luck!

On one hand, the science is sound. However, I am afraid of using things like food scales on a more emotional level. Think about it-how many people do you know feel the need to measure out everything they eat? For me, a scale further encourages an obsession with food rather than building a healthy relationship with it. I…

I went from waiting tables in college to my present desk job, and gained over 100 pounds-most within the first year. Staring at a computer screen can lull you into a constant state of half asleep, making you tired even though you've been sitting down all day. I am kicking myself for not using our on site gym when I first…

Why did you take it? I don't think it is for someone that has 20 pounds of problem weight to lose. Phen is for people who are dangerously overweight, and are already suffering such health issues that potential weight loss is more beneficial than the side effects. It is support as you establish better eating habits, as the…

Correct. The pills didn't make the fat magically melt off. They suppressed my appetite. This made it easier to establish good eating habits. They also gave me the energy to begin an exercise program. Keep in mind though, I wasn't just trying a stubborn 10-20 pounds. I'm 5'0 and weighted over 250. And I was also under a…

Same story! Just got a little tired this past month of not eating like "normal" people, though I'm still going strong with the activity. Could use some encouragement/accountability.

My doctor prescribed for me phentermine. It worked. HOWEVER-I am over 100 pounds overweight, which was accelerating the development of "metabolic syndrome." I was on the medication for a short period of time ~2 months. This gave me support to get up, and the full feeling I needed to help re-form good eating habits. Like I…

Cheese. I want all of the cheese. And wine. Once the bottle is open, its over.

Vegan chili is awesome and freezable.

First, work out before you go out-allows you a cushion. Second-always have a water on the side...and DRINK IT. Third-allow one good beer; it'll be filling. Then switch to liquor-honestly there is not much is difference brown or clear. Just steer clear of cordials. Mix with water, club soda, or diet-something.

Oliver's bed is at the foot of ours, and he sleeps with us most every night. If we move around too much and annoy him, though, he goes to his spot on the couch.

Amen! Have you ever been to their film festival?

I actually GAINED weight doing low carb. And I was tired on the time, so my workouts suffered. Before I tried it, I never really had a sweet tooth, didn't drink soda, didn't care for pasta, ate the filling off of my sandwich......in other words, not a carbaholic anyhow. Cutting them out actually made me crave carbs I…

Amen! For someone who has that sedentary a lifestyle, and the physical pain that goes hand in hand with such a lifestyle, just the idea of an exercise program is very intimidating. Just adding more activity to your daily routine is a great place to start. Maybe take a lap around the house. Once that becomes easier, add…

The fear is starting a trend of ditching work outs. I'm still trying to establish a healthy lifestyle, and am vulnerable to setbacks.

I hear ya with keeping germs to myself. I'm one of those spoiled few that get to have a gym at work. I basically have the warm, "sick" feeling in my nose and the back of my throat-and that I could fall asleep right here at my desk. Maybe a class of OJ and a good night's sleep will do the trick.
