  • OK, maybe we're saying the same things, different ways....NO, they don't cause you to lose weight, but they replace a meal for only 160 calories and they give me 30 grams of protein toward my 80-100grams of protein in my daily goal with low carbs. So, I think we've been on the same page all along. LOL
  • PLEASE don't tell my body that protein shakes don't help you lose weight!!! I have done really well with them. I like Costco's Premier Chocolate with 30g of protein, 1g of sugar and 160 calories. They fill me up for 2-3 hours. Also, they are recommended by my bariatric doctor and nutritionists. I think they would beg to…
  • Don't get me wrong, I can understand wanting the plastic surgery. Good luck and let us see the after photos, too!
  • That's a small price to pay for the incredible, awesome, fantastic job you've done losing weight!! My friends who have the saggy skin wear Spanx to hold it in. No one said you could try them, even if they ARE made for women. LOL
  • I just used my Polar FT7 for the first time today and the heart rate was right with the pulse numbers I was getting from the machines at my physical therapy office. It has calories burned as well. In the stores, it is $110. The FT4 has the Calories Burned and Heart Rate and was $90 in the stores. Both are about $20 cheaper…
  • I had dinner after I posted and thought of a few new things...... BIG POINT....your band has to be adjusted until they find the spot that works BEST for you. My doctor is very conservative and only adds a bit of saline at a time because it is better for you to eat than to have problems from it being too tight. You should…
  • Well, now that all of the people who never had the band have spoken, I would be happy to tell you about my lap band experience and tell you about some of the people in my support group. It's been one year since I started seeing my lap band surgeon and staff about having the surgery. My band was "installed" on 10/1/2010 and…
  • Angie: Spend a few minutes being upset, then, put on a positive attitude and become determined to get back to the mindframe that allowed you to lose all of the weight in the first place and practice all of the tools your doctor and nutritionist gave you. YOU CAN DO IT! Your pouch may have stretched, but I bet it is still…
  • I am answering without reading everyone's answers, so if I am repeating, please forgive me. IF you have the feeling like something is "stuck" in your esophogas, it is usually something like bread, beans, rice, could be egg yolk...anything sticky or too large. There are a couple of reasons: you could have a hernia…
  • Welcome and best of luck. There are plenty of people here to help on a wide variety of subjects!! You've come to the right place!

  • I bet it would really help you if you kept your food diary! It gives you an idea of how you're doing so you aren't surprised when you take a few steps off of the path. You can make it private so you can be honest and no one else will see it. But, I'm sure you will get right back on track and do a fantastic job. As others…
  • Wish I could adjust my font because it would say YES YES YES YES YES YES YES.....THANK YOU!!!!!!:drinker:
  • I try to plan my entire week so that I can shop and not end up with lots of extra food around the house. Like some of the others here, I also pre-cook some of the weekly meals. Last week, I had meatloaf, fish, pot roast, a chicken dish, "sandwich night" and two nights out. It's a real help to not have to think about it…
  • I really love Rolos and the Rolo McFlurry was DEEEEELICIOUS. We actually have the calories posted on menus now, but I wanted it so I had it. It's hard to pass it up some days, because I know what I am missing, but I figure one day I will have calories and carbs left at the end of the day and since we have 24 hour…
  • WELCOME! I am current losing with the lap band and want to congratulate you on your great success and wish you the best of luck in maintaining as I understand it can be quite a challenge from the others in my support groups. You've come to a fanastic place for support. I have found a few WLS people on the site, but the…
  • Can you jump rope? Heard that is equivalent to jogging.
  • Can I be blunt if I tell you that I am not trying to be mean or rude? OK...I think that ANYONE eating 500 net calories a day is a fool. You cannot survive in any healthy manner on that amount of fuel. You are starting your body. I know this because I am 54 years old and have been on almost EVERY type of diet out there and…
  • Sure, you can be under once in a while. Think about how many religions have fasting days. Just try to get up to your calories tomorrow. I wouldn't make a habit of doing it as a regular part of my routine.
  • I love TV and it keeps me sane when I am alone for long periods of time, when my husband is working out of town. I also work at home and I am much more productive with it on in the background. I have TiVo, so I can go anywhere at anytime and the TV doesn't stop me. I would feel so isolated without it. Now,…
  • You can have friends and still keep your food diary private. I do that because I am not tolerant enough for people to criticize my food. My goal right now is to stay within the numbers, one way or another and make other changes gradually. Plus, my numbers are different than a lot of other people and, again, I don't want…
  • I can't write it here, but can try. I, too, could fill the page. Early in my working days, I was in collections and I did repossessed cars. Sometimes I even was a process server, so you can imagine how much people loved me. I had one guy call me a c*nt of a b*tch of a wh*re, and that, I thought, indicated he was NOT happy…
  • Uh oh, I would be in deeeep trouble. For a snack or a lunch, I eat a small hamburger/jr. hamburger (no cheese) from McDonald's, Checkers, Wendy's, Burger King or a Taco from Taco Bell all of the time. I can't quote the nutritional information, but it fits in very well when doing errands and hitting the four hour mark and…
  • I've talked with several personal trainers and ALL of them say STAY AWAY from ANY of the Shape Up type shoes. I've posted this before ...I don't know why you should stay away, except they are bad for you and you've just confirmed what I've been told. I just tried on shoe after shoe after shoe until I found one with the…
  • I think that people make the mistake of using food as a reward for everything, including weight loss accomplishments and once they do that, they have a hard time stopping. Try to change all of your weight loss triggers, including using food/eating as a reward or a celebration (except the family dinners or parties that you…
  • I'm 5'10" or 5'11", depending on the day (scoliosis) and have a size 11, size 12 shoe. I wear a size 13 ring and have been told by several doctors that I should not go lower than 170-180 pounds. I learned to make jewelry because I need a 9.5" bracelet, and I really don't have a lot of fat around my wrist. My bones really…
  • To me, low carb is 100 grams of carbs per day with no more than 23 grams of carbs per serving. My protein is 80-100 grams per day. Calories 1500 per day. Getting good results, even though I have not been exercising and am going to start from a totally deconditioned state, so 10-15 minutes will be a big deal.
  • That's great! I think it is much easier to stay motivated when you are interested in checking in to the site to write down your food and exercise, plus check your blog and catch up with your MFP friends. It really does make a different to have this "healthy" world away from the everyone else! Keep up the great work and…
  • The reason carbs are confusing is because people who are body building use a high carb diet, but people who are trying to lose a lot of weight and aren't body builders should be on a lower carb diet no more than 100 grams per day. You also need to be sure no serving provides more than 13 grams of sugar. 80-100 grams of…
  • Before you try losing weight, how tall are you and what is your "healthy weight"? How is your body image doing now? If you had an eating disorder in the past, please be careful! You can always exercise to tone your thighs.
