  • Starbuck's Pumpkin Scones. Ha! At least I've gone from lattes to regular old coffee with cream.
  • I go with what the machine says but only count 2/3rds of the calories. Therefore, I gotta burn 300 calories on the machine to log 200 calories on MFP. I asked just about the same question you have here and this is kinda what I was told to do. I was told that the elliptical overestimates your calorie burn.
  • Heck NO! That's when I try to weigh myself. =)
  • Yeah. I'm not even gonna weigh myself until Wednesday. That's usually my lightest day. I'm hoping that by then I fall into my weight window. We'll see.
  • As long as you don't say tomorrow... "I'll start tomorrow." ...and the next day. Go ahead and enjoy your holiday. I've found that when you hit it hard with the diet and exercise, you can have a nice, big meal every now and then.
  • Yup. I lost a ton of weight right before I met my wife. Then I put it back on when she got pregnant. I held onto it for 4 years and finally decided it was time to get into shape again. I didn't think I'd get down to that former in-shape weight again (164 lbs.). Ha! I'm now down and hovering around 158-162. =)
  • Me too! Just the top ones. What's it gonna take to get the rest of them to pop out? Sheesh...
  • At this point, I'm hovering between 158-162. And I'm good right there. But I am considering trying to hit 155.
  • Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris. Funniest book I've ever read.
  • Yup. I'm on here too. Down 60 lbs. I've reached my goal weight. Just gotta turn the rest of the padding into muscle. I'm getting there. MyFitnessPal is the best. Good luck to all of us on here!
  • I think the reason that we don't feel like we're dying on the elliptical is because of the smoothness of the motion. I could do the same amount of time/calorie burn on the treadmill and feel like I'm dying. The constant Boom! Boom! Boom! from stomping on the treadmill is what kills us, I think. You can get the same calorie…
  • That's funny. I've recently been adding about a tablespoon (maybe a touch more) to my GNC Pro Performance Amp chocolate protein powder drink thingy. But I've still been using water. Yeah. It's yummy.
  • I started MMA about 6 months ago. It's a great workout. I was way outta breath when I first started and everyone told me to go running for my cardio. So I started running. I started MyFitnessPal shortly after that. I am now also riding my bike to work and hitting the gym. The MMA started all of this for me. I like the Jiu…
  • ...when your wedding ring falls right off your finger after washing your hands. I was drying my hands when I heard a CLANG! on the floor.
  • I usually do 30 minutes with a 5 minute cooldown like stated from another above. These are the days that I'm working arms/shoulders/back/chest. If I've overdone it with strength on the previous days and am sore, I'll just do 45 minutes on the elliptical with a 5 minute cooldown and skip the strength training.
  • If I type in 40 minutes on the elliptical into the MFP database, it says 505 calories. I've got an HRM in my future but I don't wanna be overestimating the calorie burn. I will say that when I'm done, my shirt is drenched from shoulder to shoulder, neck to waist.
  • Another good substitute for salad dressing is some fresh salsa. Mmm... and maybe some Parmesan.
  • Jack Daniel's Honey Dijon Mustard!
  • Hiya. I play bass, drums and guitar. In that order of preference. I started out with the guitar, then moved to bass, then picked up the drums. I'd say that bass is my main instrument. Upright and electric. I did alot of upright playing here in the Bay Area Jazz scene. But my true love is playing funk/soul on the electric…
  • Heyhey. I just started doing MMA about 3 months ago. 4 days a week. It was the beginning of me trying to get myself back into shape. Both my sons take karate at the dojo. I decided to go for the MMA. Losing weight and having fun while doing it. So exciting when you can tap someone out. Next came MyFitnessPal. Then the…
  • Grill up some chicken with 1/3 of one of those packets of seasoning. Mix some coleslaw mix (plain - no mayo or any of that stuff) with a tablespoon of low-fat Ranch dressing and some cut up jalapenos and sliced radishes. Throw it all in a corn tortilla. Add some of that green salsa stuff. Yummy.
  • Not yet. Got my MMA class later this evening.
