I generally follow this type of routine with regards to greeting other runners while out for a jog. 1) make note of approaching runner coming into view. 2) as approaching runner gets closer, gradually increase pace. 3) when approaching runner gets within 100 yards, increase pace again and focus on improved form and…

I'm a huge rockabilly fan and always appreciated Slim Jim Phantom of the Stray Cats. Not really a 'rock' band, but I loved his style and showmanship.

Of course, Animal from the Muppets was pretty talented in his own right... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_BmeBfV-O4

For chest colds I usually just rest, I have no way of dealing with those that actually help at all. But for head colds, ever since I was a little kid I always loved exercising in the cold, be it playing ice hockey, or tobogganing, or running, or playing ball hockey, for me the cold and the heavy breathing always opened…

I always try to breathe through my nose and work hard to control my breathing that way. I do my best to maintain a "2 steps in and 3 steps out" rhythm, it helps me keep a steady pace as well. It also will assist in keeping your mouth moist to by not breathing in through it and drying it out. And...the best part ? Less bugs…

I love the fact that I am thoughtful...caring...kind...compassionate...considerate...and sincere. I love the fact that I consistently think of others first and tend to put their needs before my own. I love the fact that I have the ability to make others feel good about themselves. I love the fact that I am able to make…

Good luck getting tickets Top, they're sold out all year. You'll likely have to get some from scalpers.

I was at 2 games at Citizens Bank Park last spring. I hit a Flyers playoff game on the Saturday afternoon, sandwiched in between 2 Phillies games on Friday and Sunday. Best weekend ever !!! Gorgeous ball park , probably not as much history as Fenway or Wrigley though, but I'm a huge Phillies fan so I'm a bit biased. All…

A bear and a rabbit are squatting in the woods beside each other, taking their morning dump. The bear looks at the rabbit and says "Don't you just hate when it sticks to your fur afterwards ?". To which the rabbit replies "Actually, rabbits are quite fortunate. . We've been genetically designed so that we never have that…

My first half was in 2010, when I was 44. I completed it in 1:46:54. I had only started running a year earlier. Good luck at your first race, trust your training and you'll be awesome !

I managed to run 140 Miles (225k) in March, a total that included a 30k race, a 2 week taper, and a 4 day "shut down" due to some blood tests I had to get done. Even though this was the lowest monthly mileage of the year thus far, I'm well on my way to achieving one of my goals of 1100 total running miles in 2012. Onward…

I've had the opportunity to meet in person, and even run in races with, 2 of my mfp friends so far.. By mid September I expect that number to grow to a minimum of 10, if my race schedule falls into place as planned. I'm doing a lot of travelling to some really unique races this year and part of the appeal for me is the…

The best endorphin rush of all...RUNNING HILLS !!! I'm getting ready to do another Warrior Dash and will be running a LOT of hills in the next few months. I always get such a huge feeling of accomplishment when I get to the top of each hill...that's why I like doing them so much. They're hard to do, yes , but the…
