1. Personal preference. I used to. I no longer do. 2. Not linear. At all. Sometimes I'll stay completely steady for 2-3 weeks, and then drop 3 pounds overnight, with no further loss for a few more weeks. However, if after 4-6 weeks there's been no true change, then you probably need to reevaluate your calories and logging.

I haven't had any problems with it and I frequently run in tank tops. It's lightweight and cool even in the summer. I would order a size bigger than normal, especially if you're wearing it in winter so that it will fit over coats and such.
