Thanks. That's good to know, and I can expect the weight loss to become more sensible over the next few weeks. Cheers

That's a nice feeling, I bet! Well done

I love this quote from the start of Trainspotting. Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a ****ing big television, Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance. Choose fixed- interest mortgage…

Wow, you look lush! That's a great change, you must be chuffed.

Well done! 34lbs is a big chuck of weight. Are you treating yourself to a new wardrobe now? Or just a few strategic bits until you reach goal?

I know its a bit obvious but I like Running by Evermore.

Oh great -. Thanks for that.. I'm of to eat chocolate till I barf

If you drink sweet drinks, it changes your ability to taste sweetness. http://www.bristol.ac.uk/neuroscience/bn-news/2011/110609-sweet.html So if you drink sweet drinks, you crave sweet drinks. I think this could suggest that the preference for sweet foods is a learned trait not an ingrained one.

I posted 2 links earlier which are from good sources (Livestrong and Dr. Romanov Running). I enjoyed the argument :)

How are you coming to these conclusions?? [/quote] Actually there are a number of studies that show that increasing the incline on a treadmill gives the same energy output as running on the flat. The value varies depending on the study but the generally say at least a 1% increase is needed.
-
This is the statement I have a problem with: Do you have anything to support it or can we agree that you were given duff info?
-
As I've been saying, treadmill and outdoor are about the same. You suggested that the treadmill requires twice as much co-ordination and balance as outdoor. I am arguing that it does not and have presented some fairly reliable sources.

A bit more stuff I found Read more: http://www.livestrong.com/article/383550-the-disadvantages-of-a-treadmill-machine/

http://www.posetech.com/training/archives/000165.html The article continues to suggest small biomechanical differences in between treadmill and outdoor running - namely that there is some additional upper body involvement when running on the treadmill and running on the ground requires a "much more sophisticated…

Why? Its the same, surely? This is the whole of my question: Why do you assert that the treadmill requires more co-ordination and balance than running outside?
-
These are some of the reasons that running outside is 'harder' than a treadmill. I thought that was my question! I thought I suggested that there is no difference between treadmill and outside (except that some people perceive the treadmill as easier because it is consistent). I was questioning the statement that the…

Make sure you buy good chicken to start with. Many supermarkets sell several qualities of chicken. Battery farmed chicken is notoriously low on flavour. If you want a chicken dish with loads of flavour, try this: Chicken Tikka Masala ½ fresh red chilli, deseeded • 1 clove of garlic, peeled • 15g fresh ginger • 1 tablespoon…

I'm not sure I can accept this. I mean I accept that running in the heat is not always clever, but a treadmill needing twice as much effort as running outside seems counter-intuitive. Could you say where your number comes from? I love athletics (and an argument:happy: )) and found this in an old Runner's World: Surely…

Paula Radcliffe? I think she looks pretty fit. Mizuki Noguchi? Marathon runners do a decent amount in the gym, don't they? I thought that part of the plan for an athlete like Haile Gebreselassie would include a couple of gym workouts each week. http://www.ethiopianreview.com/articles/32874

I like the Anolon (Spelling?) pan we got about 8 years ago. Non-stick with a vented lid and it spreads the heat around nicely. And it does great pancakes

Bridget Jones' Pants! I wonder if people think you're pregnant because you are basically slim and gorgeous with a little belly? Perhaps they don't realise what it is because the rest of you is so trim! Just a thought looking at your profile pic.

I love a bowl of porridge in the winter. When it's proper nasty outside and I've still got to get to work, Bran Flakes just won't do it. At work, we have breakfast club for the kids and they always serve porridge with honey. And bacon, eggs beans and fried bread! That will set you up for the day! When I was a kid my…

That makes a lot more sense!

NSV- Non-Specific Vaginitis You haven't made the faux pas - I have! What does it mean here?
-
I cooked this for the family tonight. I admit that I didn't use the Patak's paste but it was still absolutely lovely. I served curry with basmati and wild rice and a load of Mango Chutney. It is hot and sour as vindaloo should be and a real winner. Gets my vote.
-
I guess NSV doesn't mean what it used to. Great story though!

Thanks guys. I know I need to cut down and I know I'll need to drink a lot more water. I'm sure I'll be fine if I get over being irritated at having to cut back one of my favourite things

A good idea - but I don't like decaff. Decaff espresso is wrong. It's difficult to get Caffeine Free Diet Coke here, but it might be worth the effort.
