  • On Wednesdays I go to a local Greek/Italian restaurant and have gyros. Instead of fries, I get 2 cups of spaghetti to go and eat it the next day for lunch. Two meals for the price of one! So yesterday I had gyros, today I had spaghetti.
  • I make lasagna once a month. For the noodles, I buy whatever I can get my hands on, I'm not really picky. The sauce is where it's at. I start by browning New Johnsonville Italian Sausage in a pot. Then I pour in Contadina sauce and Contadina paste in a 1:1 ratio with 2 tbsp of sugar, some tomato basil seasoning over medium…
  • I checked the Dunkin Donuts flavored coffee beans (Hazelnut and French vanilla) and they don't have calories, so I think you should be good. If you were getting syrups, powdered mixes, or creamers it would be a different story.
  • I workout in the evening, typically around 6:30pm. A lot of people avoid evening workouts because it messes with their sleep. I've never had a problem getting to sleep after a workout, though.
  • Current weight: 169 lbs Loss per week: 0.5 lbs/week x 8 weeks = 4 lbs Interim Goal Weight: 165 lbs by November 30th, that's pretty close to my goal weight of 164 lbs. I'll reassess my goal weight when I get in the 164-165 range.
  • Pizza, gyros, alcohol, McDonald's, it's all in my diary. I don't eat cookies so you won't find any of that in my diary, but I log everything I consume. I've lost almost 40 lbs in 9 months eating smaller portions of the things I enjoy.
  • I'm 5'7", male. For six months, I lost at a rate of 1.25 lb/week with an average food consumption of 1800 calories/day and average daily exercise of about 300 calories (six days exercise, one day rest). I dropped from 208 to 176 in that time. For the last three months, I've been losing at a rate of about 0.5 lb/week.…
  • Some days I have a larger breakfast, other days I have a larger lunch but I try to make those two meals about 1200-1250 calories total. Throw in a 500-600 calorie dinner, 250 calories worth of nighttime snacks, and 30 minutes on the exercise bike (now three days a week) and I'm running about a 250 calorie daily deficit.…
  • I have a sedentary desk job and I can get in about 1000 steps per day. I ride my bike hooked up to a trainer six days a week 30 minutes a day for fitness, and gets my heart rate up to about 140 bpm. The exercise earns me about 250 calories and lets me have an extra slice of pizza or stop at McDonald's for breakfast. The…
  • I weigh every day first thing in the morning and use Happy Scale (free app) to watch the trend. I like the comparison it gives over the past week, the past month, the past three months, and all time. Keeps everything in perspective.
  • I have hypothyroidism, and I'm taking 88 mcg of levothyroxine. I've been on it for about 17 years. In that time, I've lost, gained, and maintained weight all based on my calorie input and output. Don't look at the hypothyroidism as a barrier to weight loss. Just take your medicine (most doctors recommend an hour before…
  • I lost 30 lbs in the first six months, 208 to 178. 40-45 sounds attainable.
  • Breakfast for dinner - pancakes and sausage links
  • My doctor tried me out on temazepam first but that didn't work, so he guessed that I might have a serotonin problem since it runs in my family. He tried me out on citalopram and I went from 4 hours of sleep a night to 10 hours of sleep a night. The issue is it takes about 6-8 weeks for it to stabilize in your brain so you…
  • Today is my 200th day in a row of logging.
  • I had a sleep problem that ended up being due to serotonin imbalance (too low). I sleep really well now that I'm on citalopram.
  • Burgers, fries, beer
  • They do make Cherry Coke Zero! We can get them in Kentucky and Tennessee. My confession: I had pizza yesterday. Twice.
  • I went through this after about quite a bit of weight loss. I woke up one morning and didn't recognize the person staring back at me in the mirror. Take a look at my photos. My wife started losing weight too so we both shrank before and after. It was confusing for awhile until I got used to the new normal. It took me about…
  • Every morning. It gets my day started off thinking about my weight goals. I track the seven day moving average and see how I've progressed over the last 30 days.
  • Kayaking sounds like a lot of fun. We've gone kayaking and canoeing around the Nashville area a number of times. We also make it a point to go kayaking when we are in Cocoa Beach, Florida through the Banana river. There are these mangrove islands you can kayak around, lots of fun. My daughter loves it so much that she's…
  • More important than a timeframe is starting! MFP is a great way to lose weight and if you stick to the settings, you'll do it safely and in a way that will help you maintain good habits the rest of your life. When I started MFP, I had about the same number of pounds to lose and I set my weight loss at 1.5 lb/week. I found…
  • If they mess it up one time, it's not going to derail your weight loss goal. Just put it in perspective by thinking about this way: I started out with 44 lbs to lose. 3500 calories x 44 lbs = 154,000 calories to run at a deficit over the course of months. A single 200 calorie error is tiny - one tenth of one percent -…
  • 5'7.75" SW 208 January 7, 2015 CW 174 GW 164, will reconsider final goal based on waist measurement Tips and motivation: I prelog my meals. I set up a one week plan and then stick to that plan. I have the same basic meals each week for lunch on specific days, e.g. Japanese on Tuesdays, gyros on Wednesdays. Some people…
  • I can wear US waist 32 jeans now! They are a little snug but this is a long way from the 38s I bought in January.
  • Tennessee
  • I can get into US waist 33 jeans now!
  • I eat back my exercise calories because MFP and my actual weight loss seem to agree on what my daily calorie deficit is. I do trend analysis on my weight loss and keep track of my calorie deficit using a spreadsheet. Over the course of 40 day stretches, they match up within about +/- 50 calories/day or so, so I figure my…
