Great effort, and well done for staying the course. Are you gonna Bridge to 10k?

I don't own a treadmill, but I know just as I know night follows day that I wouldn't use one if I bought it. Nor could I use one at a gym. It's psychological I'm sure, but I couldn't convince myself I'd run a mile without actually leaving the spot. Not knocking treadmills or ellipticals but they're not for me.

Oh lordy me, I wasn't expecting such kindness. How embarrasingly nice of you all to take the time: sincerely thank you all so very, very much. Nothing I've never done was described as an inspiration to anyone, nor motivational. Deterrant yes, warning yes. Unacceptable risk, once or twice (thanks mum). But I could burst…

Rachela99, you can. If I did, you can. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. I swear, in week two I was doing a funny kind of running movement but it was a plodding, heavy thing. I promise you you can do it, just don't fear the struggle.

That's the big one, isn't it? The first real we're-not-playing-around-any-more run. 20 straight minutes. No rest break. The curve goes up. It was a big psychological thing for me, just that number. And when I did it I was surprised to just feel a kind of satisfaction- more "that'll do, Pig" than Rocky style jumping about…

Myprotein, 25g scoop: 19.6g protein, 98 cals, less than 2g carb, less than 2g fat. And measure for measure with comparable protein content I haven't found cheaper anywhere.

Triumph! Revel in it, you earned it. Now, keep going.

I'm just starting week 9 and at first I just had to make sure I ran for the time rather than worrying about distance; I can still vividly remember the lights dancing in front of my eyes and feeling like death in week 1. I reckon I'm about getting there in terms of distance now, but I wouldn't get hung up on it; from what…

Gentle ribbing from the spelling police aside, as far as I can tell the advice tends toward just keep plugging at it and you will overcome your plateau, but you will have to just tough it out. The next most popular thing seems to be that you change it up, vary your diet and change your exercise regimen, but keep your…

Not repeating yet, and I'm on the last day of week 8 tomorrow. I think I'll start repeating week 9 after I'm done, because although I run for the alloted time there's no way I'm hitting the distance: when I can do 5k in 30 min (ha!) I reckon I'll start the Bridge to 10k.

I only eat Bolivian free range organic armadillo poo, because they alone eat a species of cockroach unique to three towns in the Búlshete mountains that in turn feed on the Pacalais lily. Their poo is therefore high macitupasugo; it is this that enables MASSIVE weight loss, up to EIGHT TONS in a week. Other armadillo poo…

Those things aren't much use, so don't pay too much attention and certainly don't dwell on it. The problem is one of variable impedence: can you guarantee that all your variables are constant? Your water, electrolytes and so on? If not, measuring BF% by impedence is just too hit and miss.

So much bad science. Why do people enjoy being scared so much?

I'm with you all the way on this. When it comes down to it, your diet (or mine, or hers, or theirs) is a study of one. There's no catch all, there's no simple formula for guaranteeing this or that result. I mean, if there was this would be among the simplest things we could do, wouldn't it? And it isn't.

Don't do it. Not to be a killjoy (OK, I am being a killjoy, but there's no malice in it I promise you), but it's a step backwards. Fat Friday once per month could so easily turn into something more. I miss eating things, and I miss volumes of food that I can't eat: I can't allow myself a single lapse. Not to trivialise…

Huzzah, sir. It's a significant milestone, and is to applauded. Keep it going.

Many thanks to all who replied, I appreciate your time and opinions. I would just point out that I rang the changes in April this year when I hit 260 or so- I didn't discover MFP straight way, so I'm not entirely green. Anyway, I shall continue and I shall prevail. And when this plateau ends, I shall be thankful to you…

ALL THE TEA. It is OK to drink ALL the tea. Green, white, Oolong, Puerh, black; it's all wonderful, just watch the milk. Because tea is the most awesome thing on earth. I get through pints of it, I'd rather have electrodes attached to my genitals and be flogged senseless with a knotted rope than go without tea.

1. I will continue: I can do no other. 2. Never watched it. Never understood such gimmicks. Eat less, move more- what else does a man need to know? 3. SO BLOODY CONSCIENTIOUS. I'm not joking with you, there are surgeons who take less care than me.

Salmon for righteousness.

I hate running too. I'm fat, old and male so public sweating isn't for me: I just have to use force of will to lace up my shoes and get out running. C25K is great, especially if you download an app or something so you can see your progress. Seven weeks ago I was like some sort of dying bug after a few minute intervals of…

Daunting, isn't it? I don't think I ever read a negative comment on here, so you're in the right place to start. Use MFP, set your goals, stick to them and use the support you'll get on here. Forgive yourself your bad days when you have them, and keep moving forward. You have to start somewhere, and that's half the…

Pretty much all exercise equipment comes with a max weight but it's tested well in excess of those weights; caveat emptor and all that, but you should be OK.
-
Huzzah, sir! Enjoy your triumph! I look forward to the day where I'm not considering growing a beard to delineate where my face stops. :)
-
Non Scale Victory, I think. Because it's not just about the numbers, as important as they are.

Eat, but don't comfort eat. Stay true to the reasons you had for starting out on this in the first place; if those motivations have changed, change with them, but hold your line at all costs. The heart is resilient, it breaks but will always mend. Eventually.
-
Thanks for your replies: I'm not in the least stressed about it, but I didn't know if it was something inevitable I ought to prepare for. Seems it mightn't be.

Stick at it, Steve. So you're not shedding weight like you were and it feels like a backward step, I get that, but you need more calories so that when you hit the weights you develop muscle. A little muscle will raise your resting metabolism: you will continue to lose so long as you stick at it. Just don't cheat- lift…

You swear at Jillian a lot, as I understand it. It's hard going.

^ I'm guessing that's why there's not so many topics of this nature. My crystal ball is on the blink but I just read the entrails of goat. It was inconclusive. Stupid bloody indecisive goats.
