So....about 10 days ago I checked the body fat scale at the gym and I was 87 kgs....today I checked again and I was 87 kgs! I didn't lose any weight...HOWEVER
I GAINED body fat...and LOST muscle mass....how is this possible??? I've been dieting and working out and I've exercised 7/10 of those days!!!
I just am baffled as to how this could be....if anyone could give me some answers I would appreciate it!

Those things aren't much use, so don't pay too much attention and certainly don't dwell on it.
The problem is one of variable impedence: can you guarantee that all your variables are constant? Your water, electrolytes and so on? If not, measuring BF% by impedence is just too hit and miss.0 -

no, i cannot guarantee that, but are you saying that if i'm retaining water the machine's gonna read it as body fat?0 -
I have a BF Scales at home. They tend to give me alot lower number weight than on the regular digital ones and it also tends to be a different number every time i step on and off it several times in a row, whereas the digital ones usually give the same number several times in a row.
For example yesterday my weight on regular digital scales was 11st 9 (74kg) 3 times consecutively but on the BF scales I was getting readings of 10st 10, 10st 4, 10st 6.
However since I got them in june when I was getting readings between 12st and 12st 5 (12st 7 on digital ones), the numbers have gone down ie body fat number has consistently gone down, water has come up from 44% to 47% and lean muscle mass number has increased slightly.
If I weigh on these at TOTM sometimes the body fat number is higher but drops again when i weigh after TOTM has finished.
I take my weight from digital scales rather than these but they give me an idea I'm heading in the right direction.. most of the time.. occasionally I've had a stone (14lbs) or more difference between the two scales.. not sure why.0 -
My bodyfat % seems to fluctuate a lot on my digital sclaes. i try not to take too much notice of it, especially if it doesnt follow a downwards trend!!0

It could be a number of things, scales can often read body fat wrong so don't totally trust them, could of been as simple as the time of day may of been different. Muscle weighs more than fat so if you have built more muscle you will weigh a bit more sometimes. If you have been exercising and eating right then you shouldn't of gained body fat and lost muscle so there was an error with the scales or it was read incorrectly either the first time or the second time. I was going to say the good old trusty tape measure is a good way to go........................... but even then it can be human error. I was measured a couple of weeks ago and my total number of centimetres lost the first time was 32 cm but I was measured again the other day and the total loss was only 22cm so one of the ladies doing my measure did it wrong on my thighs........... hopefully it was the last measure lol Are you doing exercises on your muscles every day or do you have a break from that and just do cardio exercise too, I have learnt that muscles need to have a rest for a day so they can repair themselves, so do weights one day with or without cardio then the next day just do cardio like walking as a muscle rest day. Eat plenty of protein too for your muscles good luck0

the only mesuring tool I trust is a mesuring tape. In the last month, I lost a total of 6 inches but my weight went up and my body fat % on my scale stayed the same.0
