Yes mostly.....it's not common in the UK except for restaurants where there is no service charge included and a few other things by personal choice.

Look across the pond........thousands working over here in Europe.....just a normal Friday for us!

Hi....I am in the UK but studied German and lived in Bensheim as a student many years ago. Feel free to add me as a friend if you like. Ich muss mein Deutsch ueben!!!
-
I agree totally about the technique....without this it is difficult to get into a good rhythm and without that you can get tired very easily. I also do aquafit which is great fun.
-
Ignore anyone who says "you must/must not eat this, do this etc." Only take notice of those who say "this worked for me, it might work for you" We are all different and have to discover what does and doesn't work for us as individuals.

It's in there under water aerobics, water callisthenics......I go every week...great fun....sometimes it's more like synchronised drowning for mature ladies!
-
No voting here......apparently you're not one of our colonies any more

Hi everyone. I am Gail, 52 from near Coventry in the UK. I have been using MFP since August 2011 and have lost 39.5lbs......OK so it's a couple less than that as I was away last week and put two back on.....I never log the gains! Ideally I would like to get to my goal of 10st 7 (147lbs for those across the pond!) by the…

I suppose it just depends on the dictionary you're using. I doubt many in the UK would use 'curb' to describe the edge of the pavement (sidewalk to our US friends).
-
Curb and kerb are completely different words with different meanings, as are tire and tyre in the UK, both misspelled and misspelt are used widely here.

Noooooo.....They don't give sweets to kids......The poles they carry with a sign on top look like lollypops!!!

Close...3rd Feb here

I know what it's like to lose your mum (I'm in the UK) at that age as mine died at 68. Smoking was the major cause but a poor diet and being overweight also meant she was unable to fight off a pulmonary infection. She and I were very similar and I saw the health problems her weight caused and was determined not to go the…

There's a town in SW France called Condom.....very amusing when you're a teenager on a school trip there!!

I had virtually stopped reading, except on holiday until I got an iPad with the Kindle app. In the last 8 months I have read more than in the previous 8 years so that speaks for itself.

I agree with others that you should get your knees checked so you know what's causing the problem. I have one really bad one and I know exactly why.....it was mangled in a car crash many years ago....I do water aerobics and you can find toning exercises for the pool too.

^^^^ This.....blitz a tin of tomatoes in a blender...or buy ready made passata....add whatever veg and herbs you like plus some lean meat if you like....if there's too much freeze it.

Are you weighing/measuring everything properly or just estimating? 30g of something is a lot less than people think it is. I also agree on the drinking and it is easier than you might think......because mostly it's a habit. I used to drink wine 4 or 5 nights a week, usually only one or two glasses. When I started on here a…

And me....I even share towels with my teenage sons!!!

Bravissimo....mentioned above or figleaves.com

On the BBC website you can find out which one you already have!! It compares your height and weight against the athletes competing. I came out as a weightlifter from Ecuador.....fortunately a female one!!!

The roads aren't safe to ride a bike on...... the weather is rubbish most of the time (UK)..... bad knee means I can't run..... the gym has a sauna and a pool...each to their own!
-
Wide awake here too....but I am in the UK and it's 9.45am so my employer might get a bit annoyed if I went to sleep!!!
-
Hundreds and hundreds of thrreads on this.....there is only one answer....whatever works for you. Experiment with different intervals and choose the one you're most comfortable with. For some, like me, it's daily, for others it's much longer and some don't bother at all they just go by their measurements. The choice is…

Are you going to the ODI on Wednesday? I'll be there! I'm cooking some chicken breast in the oven and taking sweet chilli dipping sauce, salad etc. Grapes are a good snack and I'll be doing slices of melon with a few strawberries. On the down side I'm going with my dad and hisband who aren't calorie counting so there will…

^^^^ This.....and repeating over and over and over again "It can't last forever, I'll grow out of it!!"

I forgot to say that drinking alcohol late in the evening makes it much worse. I can't comment on the benefits or otherwise of nightwear as I don't own any :0
-
Oh yes.....I can't remember the last time I went to sleep and didn't wake up at least once sweating profusely and usually with my heart racing. Strangely I never have hot flushes during the day although I'd happily swap with someone who does..lol I have tried various herbal things and I think Black Cohosh helps....well the…
