[/quote] I have to ask--why are you trying to lose weight? You've listed several reasons why you don't need to lose weight and the one reason to lose weight (your first mentioned being overweight) doesn't seem to important to you. So why do you want to lose weight? (I have my own thoughts on this but want to see your…

Thanks folks.... @Lizzy622 - it works for a couple of weeks (water!) and then nothing and after another couple of weeks I just lose the motivation to keep logging. @MonkeyMel21 - no that doesn't get me down....I'm more concerned about my jeans than a bikini @kristen6350 - thanks. that's about where I am....maybe this time…

In my opinion the two are inextricably linked.

Hi. My training is going fine but work and other stuff means I only get to the pool twice a week. I'm up to £280 with a few more who've said they'll sponsor me but haven't got round to it yet. I'll be giving them a gentle reminder soon!

I have never had a problem other than it making my hair rather dry. I always save a few minutes for the sauna and put a good amount of conditioner on before sitting in there. If I don't have the few minutes I just puts lots of conditioner on before I shower.

Rice cooked up with onions, garlic, peppers, mushrooms, herbs and chicken stock. If you want to keep the carbs low use a little rice and a lot of veg.

I didn't say it wasn't OK.......I was just suggesting checking out an existing group.

There are a few groups of that kind already on here....check this one out... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/337-woman-of-a-certain-age

Me....and long may that continue....we can't stand the sight of each other!!!

My kids weren't at all disappointed when they discovered there was no Santa. When they knew that their presents weren't from a chap in a red suit who they'd never seen, they realised that as long as their requests weren't extravagant it was a certainty they'd get what they'd asked for. They were rather more bothered to…

We don't have Thanksgiving here in the UK so I don't know what you would usually do with them. I like them boiled and then mashed with a spoonful of natural yogurt (or sour cream if you have calories to spare) and a little garlic.

Definitely water aerobics as mentioned above. My knee was mangled in a car crash and I am very limited in what I can do. I tried 30DS but couldn't get beyond the second day as it was too painful. I have tried various classes in the gym but can't find one that suits.

Thanks for your views, like I said I was after the bad as well as the good. I am just a bit confused about your last comment......if you know the stuff they sell has no effect what are you "just looking" for in the shop?
-
^^^ Gross generalisation.....some of us can't stand the stuff!!!

It looks like this person gave up, the account is now showing as deactivated.

I tried that for a while (with Sage), I think it helped a bit. You should be able to get it from most good herbal products stockist. You might even try Boots or Tesco as I have seen it there.

I've been counting calories on here for more than two years......I'll hit the 800 days in a row soon. After a while it becomes habit forming. It does help that I use the iPhone and iPad apps and there are periods such as holidays when I don't log everything.

My female GP gave me the worst possible advice when I went to see her about 5 years ago with various peri-menopausal symptoms. She wouldn't prescribe HRT, which I wsn't that keen on anyway. She told me to try herbal remedies and not to worry about gaining weight because "there's nothing you can do about it". So I took her…

There are several groups on here for those of us at this stage of life. They are full of advice and tips for finding what works for you. It would be worth searching them out.

Lots of good avice above about getting the correct medical advice. My knee was smashed up in a car crash. I swim, do water aerobics and can manage the bike and rower in the gym. I cannot do any impact type stuff so no running or jumping and squates etc are just too painful.

Apparently both teams are made up of numerous nationalities and the tacttician who has turned the US performance around is Ben Ainslie....who's a Brit :-)

Weigh the spuds before you put them in the tray and use the entry in the database for potatoes. Measure your oil in a small jug or with a spoon and log that separately. Bob's your uncle!!

Create a recipe and record in it all the things you would usually put into that kind of stew. It will still be an estimate but better than plucking a random number out of the air.

I don't know that one but I use Map My Ride which is very good.

I don't count school trips for this. First time truly alone.....I was 14 and went from London to the French Alps by train, boat and plane on my own.

AC? What's that???? 84 degrees here in the UK .....does opening the window count???

^^^ Don't bank on it!!! I found out yesterday that my father has been in hospital for two weeks and my sister hadn't bothered to tell me. She lives two minutes from him and I live two hours drive away. This is the latest in a long list of spiteful things she has done. I am 53 and she is 51 so age is no guarantee of…

How strange......Mother's Day in the UK is on a different day to the US but Father's Day is the same! I'll phone my dad, that's all.
