I say give it a go and see what happens. I am 53 and started at 192 and am now 150, only 3lbs from my goal. My body isn't quite the same shape as it was before I had the kids but it's not far off.

If you think it's bad now, just wait till the menopause......you'll soon forget what a decent night's sleep is!!!

Personal choice and probably for a variety of reasons although mine is open to friends. I prefer friends with open diaries. I won't comment positively on days where they show they have completed below their calorie goal if I can't see what they did eat. It's their business what they do eat it but it would be wrong to say…

I know exactly what you mean as I was where you are now when I started this. If you had told me 18 months ago that I wouldn't miss my wine I'd had said you were bonkers. I can honestly say that I don't. I now know that I was drinking most of it out of pure habit. A nice glass or two of wine was what we had with a nice…

Happy Birthday......53 IS NOT OLD!!!!!! I am 53 too and refuse to call myself old......I am 25 with 28 years experience
-
Welcome Tashahem......there are a few groups on here for us mature ladies. I am 53 and proof that it works. I also have knee problems so swim as my main exercise. I have recently started with kettlebells at home and am tracking progress with a tape measure rather than the scales. Good luck.

I don't know about plastic bags but I'm sure every house has a 'bits and bobs' drawer....batteries, candles, screws, packets of seeds, glue, anything you can't think of anywhere else to put!!!
-
^^^^^ Great answer.....made me smile anyway!!!

Paris is one of my favourite cities.....enjoy all it has to offer......try to walk as much as you can to cancel out the delicious food!
-
It all depends what you have your activity level set at!!! When I was at my heaviest I was swimming regularly.....I certainly log that now because I have my level at 'sedentary'....so why should cleaning be any different?
-
Hi there and welcome. There are loads of us from the UK in here.....search the Groups for UK and you'll find a fair few. I've been here since August 2011 so can testify that if you stick to it, it really does work. Go for it!!
-
^^^ This works for me too.....just don't stress about it as long as you drink when you're thirsty.
-
Speedo Aquabeat here.....I love it!
-
Shhhhhhh.......don't give the bosses an excuse to save money on chairs!!!
-
Every single one of us is different......what works for me may not for you and vice versa. I never tell anyone what they should or shouldn't do.....only what did or didn't work for me.
-
Loads of us here......search UK or British in the forums and you'll find pleanty of threads :-)
-
here you go....try this group http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/320-woman-of-a-certain-age Good luck

YOU ARE NOT OLD!!!! There are already several groups for us 'mature' ladies on here. If I can work out how to put links to them on here I will do it.

I noticed alcohol had started to give me night sweats (and my heart races too) a couple of years before I had any other menopause symptoms......it was only then I put 2 and 2 together!
-
I love red wine but can't drink it for at least two hours before bed without getting the most horrendous night sweats :-( I live in hope that I will grow out of this at some point!
-
Each to their own.......my activity level is set at sedentary because I sit at a desk to work.....doing the weekly shop for four people including loading and unloading the car is activity so I log it. Lifting those 4x2litre packs of diet coke several times feels like activity to me!!

It might be worth getting your eyes tested but genuine migraines are not usually eyesight related as a cause. My eyes don't hurt as such but I get the classic disturbed vision of zig zag lines.
-
I get those but only occasionally and I don't think mine are hormone related. They can be very disconcerting particularly if I'm driving. I just try to find a quiet place to sit, close my eyes and relax.....obviously not while driving. lol

Please don't feel awful. Although I am a lot older than you I started at a similar weight with a similar target and I now only have 3lbs to go. It has taken 18 months but I am nearly there. I have done most of this by calorie counting. I swim or go to the gym once a week and I do an aquafit class, that's all. The aqua is…
-
Patience with such things cannot be overrated. I got to within 5lbs of my target about 4 months ago and just couldn't lose any more despite trying a few things. So I kept the calories at half a pound a week loss and after six weeks a measly half a pound finally shifted. Then no loss.....for another six weeks or so....and…

Yes...me too...and at 52 I'm not hopeful that they will reduce very much. I look in the mirror and see my mum looking back at me!! Maybe it's just the price I have to pay for losing the weight and feeling healthier.
-
I'm in.......as long as you don't mind the odd 'southern' softie!! lol

Recognize what you are stressed about. What do you want? How are you going to get there?. [/quote] ^^^ This.....I know it's not easy but try to separate things out into those you can do something about and those you can't. If you genuinely can't change something then try to forget about it by focussing on what you can.…

No digital photos when I got married 29 years ago!!!
