Yes I know exactly how you feel as I go through those phases too but they do pass. I reckon some of it is more about time of life than age....I am 5 years older than you. I will send you a friend request as we're both in the UK and within a few pounds our start and goal weights are similar.

Lighten up......the smiley after the comment was intended to show I was joking!!!!

How very entertaining seeing you lot across the pond debating grammar when you can't spell favour, colour and many more!

Please don't give up...it really is possible to lose the weight at our age...I am 52 and gained the weight in very much the same way as you. I have lost 25lbs since last August although the loss has slowed significantly now. As long as you stick to your calories then you don't need to exercise like a fiend unless you…

I am in the UK and on 1200 calories a day. I manage it most days even without exercise. Feel free to check out my diary to see what I eat. One change I made was the fruit I was eating. I swapped bananas and apples for grapes and satsumas. It saved me quite a few calories.

There are loads of us from all over the UK!

No.....because it has to be preferable to the alternative!!! I am 52 and am not old.......my teenage kids would probably disagree but they are wrong!!!!
-
It is a Christian tradition over here, not just Catholic.
-
^^^^^^THIS.....anything else just isn't right!!!

It is Pancake Day here. This evening I will stand and cook pancakes for my husband and kids and when they have had enough there may be enough mixture left for me...or maybe not! I have very fond memories of my mum doing the same year after year when I was a child. And the only true way to eat them is the traditional way…

Whatever you do, don't give up after only a month. It really is much harder to lose weight at our time of life (I am 52). There is a separate setting to make your diary public as well as your profile. Although I can't see the diary I'd make sure you're weighing things and not estimating. 100g or whatever in ounces is a lot…

Well done! I am now only 3lbs away from 2 stone lost and the thought of getting to that milestone is a big incentive. Keep up the good work.

There are loads of us here in the UK. I will add you as a friend. I found the site by accident when looking for a calorie counter app for my iPhone and I honestly believe I would not have been so successful without it.

Sorry but being totally pedantic......the vowel sounds are the same it is the sibillant 's' consonants which are different!

I'm in! I am 52 and have lost 24lbs with the help of MFP since last August and have another 19 to go. I have always weighed myself everyday, first thing in the morning. I don't stress about the daily fluctuations as I know there are many factors at work. I only log a loss in whole pounds and if I see it for more than a…

Great..well done.....it really is harder to shed the pounds at our age!

Could you swim using a float? You could lie on your back holding the float across your chest and kick hard with your legs.
-
^^^^^^THIS!!!!
-
Oh no it isn't......at least not for everyone.......you could spend your life reading the pros and cons on this site on that topic! I drink no more than one cup a day of actual water and I am fine and losing weight at a steady rate.
-
^^^^^ Me too.....no messing with solutions and I hardly ever forget to take them out at night.

Stop stressing about it and do what works for you. If you eat a healthy diet with plenty of fresh veg/salad then that provides fluids. I hardly ever drink water ...never have.....can't stand the stuff......and it's not doing me any harm at all. Whatever the subject is read a cross section of posts on here to get a balanced…

I'm sorry but I disagree.....what I wear is 100% about me and how I feel.....it's nobody else's business and others only 'have' to look if they choose to!!!
-
I just read all the posts on this topic and can't help thinking how sad it is that so many young women have so little confidence and care so much about what total strangers on a beach might think. I have always worn a bikini even when I was at my largest and am not about to stop now. For the record when I'm in a country…

Try figleaves.com, all sorts of styles and sizes to suit all budgets.

I agree totally......I cannot do most of the strengthening exercises others suggest as it is too painful....I couldn't do a squat if you paid me!!!
-
I agree with this and all the others saying similar....there is nothing wrong with a daily weigh as long as you don't stress about the fluctuations. It works for me....just work out what's right for you....take no notice of the 'should' or 'shouldn't' brigade....we are all different!!

I finish today until 3 Jan, the office is open tomorrow but I'm taking the day off to fight may way around the supermarket!!!
-
Warwickshire here......pleased to see so many others from this side of the pond :-)
-
Ditto......particularly the bit about it being harder when you're more mature. I am just over half way and I WILL GET THERE!!!

I have no idea but have always assumed it doesn't burn many more than you would just sitting in a warm room. I go in there for the relaxation and not any potential calorie burn.
