I remember in my early logging days rice and pasta used to shock me (before adding all the toppings, admittedly i ate big portions too). I was looking at getting a sandwich the other day in Mark and Spencers, i'd be damned if i could find one under 600cals and they were bloody tiny.

Awesome, sounds like the effects you are experiencing are overwhelmingly positive. I'm slightly jealous as i didn't get half of these benefits :'( Just wasn't for me - simple as that!

When i first did low carb i would always loose between 5 and 10 lbs in the first two weeks and be much less bloated. After experiencing this a few times i realized this was water weight just coming off because of lack of water retaining foods. After that i would loose next to nothing. I've since come off low carb as i…

I'm 5'8 and currently 158lbs looking to get to 140. Consuming 1600 a day (active job), and exercising 3x per week + biking to work. Finding this last 20ish lbs so hard to get off though :(

This is a discussion best left for a healthcare professional. My experience on prozac has been a good one but this varies person to person.

Hi Julia, i totally understand this on many levels, my naturopath described this too me as 'seasonal depression". The tipping point for me was working nights last winter and never seeing sunlight - i became very near suicidal. My dose for anti depressants had to be doubled during this time. Needles to say i tried to adjust…

I cut out refined sugar once. But life was too difficult. Good for you for sticking to it :#

Thank you very much bombshell, the wisdom is greatly appreciated, as i replied earlier this is all new to me and i appreciate any education i can get, cheers.

Ugh the dreaded cyst, i had a bad one a few years ago had to be taken into the emergency room on saturday night and lie in agony on a stretcher on in the emergency hallway until i could be operated on. Not only is it a slightly embarrassing but very painful, however once i had surgery it was such a relief. I could not do…

If you have all the food planned and don't want to eat more (which i would suggest doing) just add butter to your beans, or an avocado to your salad etc etc. Calorie dense foods will take your intake up easily.

Depends what kind of fat it is really. From natural sources such as avocados, nuts, dairy etc is great. The ketogenic diet is built on the high consumption of these sorts of fats. Although i no longer subscribe to that diet i saw benefits from the high consumption. But if it is the other kind of fats just watch your intake…

No wonder you are hungry as some days you are only eating 1000 cals!! Up your calories, you can still loose weight on 1600 cals.

Hi Adam, I think changing a life time of eating habits is really hard to do so change your eating habits slowly, if you just change everything dramatically it will be too hard. Maybe start with one meal one week, then try changing another the next. If you don't want to loose any weight you will have quiet a lot of calories…

i don't even bother weighing myself. I retain water like a beast.

Boxing then weight lifting does it for me.

Sounds pretty extreme, is it a ketogenic type of situation? Side effects sound scary, i had such a bad time with trying keto cleanse that i wouldn't touch this.

I save eating out for "cheat days" or special occasions. This is the best way to control it because you really cannot guess cals in most places. If i know i am going out i will usually exercise that morning to compensate. To me you may as well enjoy yourself when you go out to eat and get what you want! So make it…

i feel your pain, i shift work too. I generally spend my days off preparing for my work days, creating snack bags and meals. Some of my go to are: snacks// natural yoghurt and fruit cut up fruit bags crackers and cheese mixed nuts hummus and vege sticks protein bars meals// low cal wrap with shredded chicken and salad…

my "cheat days" usually consist of less healthy choices and going to about 2500 cals max. Nothing terrible really. I do it once a week or fortnight

I always find myself watching her. EVen though i have zero interest in her lifestyle - my idea of hell. Seems to have worked for her. But how can you afford that shizz - like 20 boxes of organic fruit a week (not to mention all the dates), jesus that would be expensive

PCOS has been the bane of existence for almost 10 years. I have to calorie restrict AND exercise very regularly to loose anything, which seems common among pcos ladies. Also, when i get my period i retain up to 4 pounds of water, and generally have bad water retention anyway, maybe this is it? Try detoxing teas and such,…

How i started: Look at the label, if you don't recognize the majority of the ingredients, put it back.

ditto here, i got stuck in a cycle of eating the same food over and over. dairy and grains are actually difficult to remove if you are accustomed to it as it is in so many foods and dishes so you have to learn how to substitute. i think the reason i could not sustain this diet was the elimination of two large food groups.…

I ate keto for nearly 3 months, my god it is hard. Personally i experienced horrific "keto flu", feeling very hungry a lot of the time and found it very hard to eat out in social situations. It required a lot of prep work and effort to stick to and i found groceries expensive. On the plus it was VERY effective. However now…

i personally prefer to eat the bulk of mine in the morning but that is just my preference

As people have suggested some healthy fats might be a good way to go -handful of nuts -avocado added to your dinner or lunch etc

I personally found myself feeling very deprived and hungry on low carb (and sick of eating the same foods over and over). I find it easier to do low calorie.
