  • I'm 5 months out and stalls happen. I've noticed my sizes change during my stalls so good things continue to happen.
  • Feel free to add me
  • During the initial couple of weeks I used a pill cutter and got them down to a size I could handle. Check to see if your pills can be cut first. The cutter is cheap
  • I received the gift of my VGS on March 9th. I've been thinking about your post and concerns and wondering what kind of support is available from your surgery center. Before mine I worked for 6 months with my centers nutrition staff, including classes, on changing eating habits of eating proteins with carbs at every meal.…
  • I'm finding the Quest Protein Chips are a great sub for that crunchy fix and 20 grams protein
  • Are you drinking too fast? I had my sleeve on March 9th and it took me about 30 minutes to drink my 8 oz protein shakes
  • I'm 4 months out, the initial thoughts are still pretty fresh. All I can say is stick to the plan you have mapped out with your surgeon and support staff. The vitamins are pretty easy, stick to your intake schedule. I've found there's lot of support to be found here
  • My job is outdoors much of the time and I'll forget that I can't chug a bottle of water anymore. A few times I've had to just spew it back out, it happens
  • The day after my VSG it took me all day (8am to 9pm) to drink 20oz with little sips. The 2nd day it was easier and I drank 32oz with no discomfort. By the third day I was able to drink 64oz, all with little frequent sips. The water tends to flow through as the swelling subsides.
  • Good job

  • For your legs get a pair of TED compression socks to sleep in, no prescription needed. Definitely helps. I wear compression daily for my circulation. I developed issues because the size of legs reduced so much after my VSG. Had to order a smaller size . Didn't think of that one
  • I love this topic to enjoy our NSVs. My family doctor's office called with my latest A1c results. Pre-surgery (3/9/15) 7.1 and staring directly at diabetes, today 4.7!!!!!!!!!

  • Anyone can add me, had my sleeve on March 9, 2015.
  • Good job. I elected not to photo document my progress as there is lots of before images and video of me hosting Southern Gardening at http://msucares.com/news/SGTV/index.html
  • My doc and nutritionist have their folks eating 3 meals and 3 snacks, something every 3 to 4 hours. Has worked for me so far, finding I have to make myself eat
  • Growing up in the north and now living on the GOM I had been comfortable in wearing shorts and shirts 12-months. But since my VSG I have been getting cold and it's June, but I'll accept as part of my getting healthy

  • I initially told a couple of folks outside of family and got a real nasty, snide response. So I have been selective but as the weight as come off rather dramatically and been asked I have explained in a more one to one setting. Overall everyone has been very supportive and encouraging as friends had been worried about my…
  • I wasn't a milk drinker before my VSG. Try Fairlife, lower sugar, higher protein and Ca

  • I've been using the Body Fortress and Unjury. I got my samples from Quest and have to say their protein powder made a really good smoothie.
  • This is not just a female issue in the workplace. Just this morning I had a female colleague get a little to familiar and I had to tell her to knock it off.
  • Using just to thicken a bit. I can mix in the morning and have a nice thick smoothie for afternoon snack
  • I've worn knee high compression hose due to a staph infection many, many years ago and now will develop cellulitis if I don't wear them. Well I had a bout of cellulitis while wearing my hose. Long story short due to my weight loss my hose were 2 sizes too small and not delivering the right compression. Even my doc hadn't…

  • Alton Brown from Food Network showed a really easy recipe for homemade protein bars. I don't like the commercial brands. Actually pretty good, 160 calories, except they are a little low on protein, but next batch I'm going to increase the protein added. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/protein-bars-recipe.html
  • I reached a turning point at 60 after all my life being unable to stick to a diet. I'd lose weight and gain it back, multiple times. I have one total knee replacement, a bad back, HBP, moving towards diabetes. Finally my orthopedist sat me down and we had an honest discussion about my weight, not the usual "you need to…
