check out Hal Higdon...he has several plans for marathons (super novice, novice, 1 and 2)....good place to start to get a handle on what the training will look like. Personally - my goal for my first marathon was merely to finish...I am one of those mis-shapen gals that no matter how long I train there's no way I could…

Giddy Up....will get this done (while on conference calls!) today.

Go to the running store and get fitted for walking shoes - also, I find that straight cotton socks give me blisters (mine are running, but should apply to walking too.) I also coat my feet with a really thin layer of vaseline before I do any distance greater than 7/8 miles....helps with the friction. Although being that…

Same boat - love wine...love it enough to take up running so I don't have to give it up....life is too short to drink bad (or no) wine!!!!

Preach on - this:

I like #3....and you could wear either colored accessories (shoes or purse)....or a flower in your hair? I like the polka dot one too...but am partial to #3.

Do the Couch 2 5K program.....it's a good way to start out without getting discouraged. Sometimes it's daunting to just 'start' running. This gives you a program to follow - I found the first two/three weeks to be easy but held to the program and it worked out pretty well. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

OK, so I can't help but notice the marathon and her wedding are the same month(??) - maybe she was going to use it as motivation for the big day? If it was me, I'd suggest she scratch the marathon and focus on the wedding. Tell her you'd never forgive yourself if she ran it anyway and got injured (due to lack of training)…

Thanks for sharing - this is really inspirational. I know you don't want to show your face (and I totally get that) but I hope you are really proud of yourself cause you've done a tremendous job. Hats off to you and I hope you continue the good work!!! (and post pictures :-)

I think with Fage the reason I like it versus the others is consistency and it tastes 'fresh' compared to Chobani, Yoplait or Dannon (their greek yogurts.) i'll try the other ones (I buy one (usually on sale) but I always go back to Fage. Always. I also am loyal to Heinz Ketchup...Hunts is too sweet...and I'm from…

I usually let my body tell me when it's time to replace (which is usually around 300-400 miles). Like you, I walk and run in mine... I look for the wear on the tread but usually my shins start 'insisting' it's time to get a new pair.

Vouching for Carsonruns too! And when you see how much he runs, I find it a motivator to lace up those shoes!! I've run one marathon and about 7 halfs in the last 13 months....and a butt load of 5k-10k-15ks...and all those silly training runs ;-) I'm not 'fast' but I'm dedicated. Feel free to add me. Goal is to do another…

I've got a few on the books - all in Florida. Jan 19th Zooma Half - Amelia Island Feb 17th Breast Cancer Marathon (I'm doing the half) - Jacksonville Weekend of Feb 23rd: Gasparilla Michalob Ultra Challenge: Saturday - 15K followed by a 5K Sunday - 13.1 followed by a 8K March 9th - Gate River Run 15K - Jacksonville I'm…

You can add me - I am not as fast as some (Carson) but I give it my all :-)

After I finished my first (and only?) marathon last year - Nike Women's Marathon on October 14th in San Francisco.

I think you have enough time if you start training now. I'd pull a program like Hal Higdon's novice half marathon training plan. Are you cross training on the other days? I think you need to run 3 days a week (although 4 is better)...but if you do the two runs during the week and then your long run on the weekend, you…

Chunky runner here (but less chunky than a year ago!). 10-11 minute/mile pace and completed my first full marathon in late 2012....(at an almost 12min/mile pace.) Continuing to run in 2013 and newly discovered the joy of mudruns!!!! LOVE them. Feel free to add me...I'm fairly consisent about food logging (although I…

I use Garmin to track my distance and pace. I know there are some apps (but I have a circa 2000 blackberry and hence no apps).....a favorite of my friends is Endomondo and I think Nike Plus has something too. Good luck... re: music - someone said run with one earbud in...that's what I do too. You have to be aware of your…

Feel free to add me....until about 2.5 years ago I was not a runner....now I run, and run, and run. I just finished a marathon (more of a bucket list thing) and I'm signed up for a few halfs in the next few months....and I'm not fast, but I'm doing this for me, my health and my mental well being. I've also discovered…

Another vote for C25K....and when you start, don't worry about your distance or your speed, just get used ot the motion. The first week or two might seem a 'bit' slow....but it's getting your body used to what you'll be wanting it to do later on. Stick with the program, repeat weeks as necessary. Love this program.

My husband likes Nike dri-fit shorts - from the outlet. built in under-roos and zipper pocket in the back (key and Gu) and side pocket on the inside (room for another Gu.) He swears by them.....

Happy Birthday Brett!! Enjoy it!

Feel free to add me....I'm doing my first full in October, have a half in November and December....and February and March. Warning though...I'm a bit of a turtle...but I'm still out there getting it done :-) Crossing that finish line is such a great feeling.

I really like my Garmin 210...super easy to use (too many bells and whistles overwhelm me.) turns on/finds satellites fairly quickly. I
