  • most likely you're building muscle that wasn't there before, and since 1 pound of muscle takes up a lot less space than 1 pound of fat you will start getting smaller even if the pounds aren't falling off like you think. I measure myself every week on the day I weigh myself, i measure my arm, chest, thinnest and thickest…
  • you are an incredibe inspiration! keep up the fantastic work :) i hope to be where you are now in the not-too-distant future :)
  • what do you do for a living? that really makes all the difference in figuring it out because everyone burns calories differently depending on their weight
  • I track it just so I can see what happens when eat or drink something I shouldn't, but I LOVE fruit so I don't pay too much attention to it! especially when 1 medium apple has 16g in it... it's impossible to stay within MFP's goal AND eat lots of fruits and veggies.. i agree with comments above about watching the carb…
  • nuts are another good energy/fat source that are a bit higher in calories, also, try adding ground flax seed or chia to add some calories and a great source of Omega-3 Fatty Acids (they're great for you brain and heart and are VERY waist-line friendly). I'll add 2Tbsp flax to my oatmeal, it doesn't change the taste or…
  • The "heavy lifting " term confuses me too, I would consider it the 1-6 rep technique too, but you don't have to lift that much. I think strength training is very essential to ultimate health and fitness, but bulking up is not necessary as long as you're building muscles through resistance training or high reps/low weight
  • It sounds like you need to add strength training. The more muscle you have the more calories your body burns while sedentary.
  • you look great! it's amazing what a difference 24 lbs will make! keep it up and "get back on the wagon" you've come so far!
  • so i have to go in monday for an MRI, they believe I have PCOS but the ultrasound was inconclusive so the MRI should show more. I also have something wrong with my uterus where there's a wall that splits it into two areas. My hormone labs came back normal. It looks like i'm in for a battle with fertility.. Not really great…
  • I'm kind of floored that i just found this topic, I am actually headed to the Dr in about 15 min to get my hormone and ultrasound results from a host of tests i had done last week. I stopped having periods 6 months ago and am a little freaked out about the results.. it's nice to see posts from women with hormone issues, i…
  • I just started the P90X over, and I'm hoping to stick with it for the full 90 days, i just saw the infomercial for the body revolution though, and I am definitely going to order that to do after my P90X is done, it looks like a blast and 30 minute workouts are much more sustainable then the lengthy P90X dvd's.
  • i'm starting today, i talked my husband into doing it with me! i did 8 weeks of it about 3 years ago and i can't wait to get going again! (i am terrified of how sore i'll be tomorrow, but i'm at least in better shape now than i was when i started last time)
  • I eat a VERY varied diet, my hubby revolts if i feed him the same thing all the time! there's a spinach artichoke chiken at readyseteat.com (they are awesome, they have the full nutrition info for EVERY recipe), i like to add red pepper flakes and garlic to most of the recipes i try from anywhere because i like tons of…
  • McD's.. it always seems like it'll taste good but I always feel ill afterwards, and now they have the calorie counts on the containers that make it that much easier to say no :)
  • it is supposed to be refridgerated after opening, it retains the freshness better!
  • i think it's probably a will power thing, i have the same problem! I always feel like i'm being rude if I say no, even if it's the samples at Costco! the trick i've had to make myself use EVERY time is to immediately say "no" without thinking about it, after a while it becomes habit and you don't have to worry about it...…
  • just pay attention to your energy levels throughout the day, if you have any times where you consistently feel tired, then add a high protein or nutrient rich snack around that time. The best advice is to pay close attention to your body and adjust things as needed. Also, if you forget to track things like butter or oil in…
  • Start slow and make one change at a time! Soon you'll be seeing results! Also, weigh AND measure yourself every week (but not any more often). Be patient and be kind to yourself... add me for support if you want a good support friend!
  • Yay! Great job
  • great job! it sounds like you get shin splints, which is where your muscles actually detach from your shin bone. You can prevent these by stretching your shins, calves and feet out REALLY well before and after each workout. To stretch your shins, kneel down and rest your but on your heels (if they touch) with the tops of…
  • if you blend them in a smoothie you get none of the slimy feeling to them.. good luck!
  • be sure to stretch your feel out REALLY well before and after working out and look into some arch supports specifically for your feet. also investing in better running shoes could help. just a little advice from a LMT. Also, ICE ICE ICE! i agree with the post above :)
  • i really like Muscle Milk Vanilla... 130 calories and 27g protein in one rounded scoop.. it isn't chalky and blends well in a smoothie or with milk.
  • 2500mg of sodium is the max suggested for any adult to consume, i don't think it is there as a goal to try to meet. Too much sodium is very hard on your heart and can cause high blood pressure. Don't try to get to 2500, just don't exceed it.
  • if you're doing a lot of strength training you may consider it for buiding your muscle quicker, i usually go over in a day just by eating so i only use protein occasionally as a meal replacement and to change my diet up occasionally. You can find decent tasting ones, but i like to blend them with a cup of fruit and a…
  • track the fruits as well, a medium sized apple is around 80 calories so it could put you over and a calorie is a calorie regardless of where it comes from.. i love fruit as well and eat TONS especially in the summer
  • i ordered my chia online, but you can find it in a lot of health food stores.. i really like it a lot, no extra flavor and it goes great in smoothies and is really easy to just eat once you let it soak in water (it has a very slight watermelon type taste to it, or at least that's what i think of) very healthy for you…
  • i LOVE using an exercise ball for core work, you can look up a ton of exercises online. i think they're far more effective than crunches alone. You need to do a variety of core exercises and work EVERY different ab muscle (sides, lower, upper) to great really good results as well as strengthen your back. My suggestion…
  • I always measure in front of a mirror, chest I always do right at the nipples and my waist is always the thinnest and thickest parts so I take a moment to check ( my thickest is right at my bellybutton so its easy that way) measurements can change surprisingly fast especially if you're working out, so take them and…
