  • Great suggestions and info! I find out what I'm eating and work backwards. What do I need to make what I eat? It is a surprisingly short list.
  • Add away! Keto lifer
  • Frankly, the whole culture is so danged fat that normal sized people look too skinny. Re-watch Wally. Then live your life and consider the source - our obese culture.
  • Go slow. Really slow. In my opinion, maintenance is for life, so you're looking for a new 'normal', not just being able to slam some carbs again. If your goal is continued ketosis for the health benefits now would be the time to start testing for blood ketones. Which oddly enough is backwards from what most people do. Be…
  • I think it's really cool that the words "doctor" "keto" and "recommend" were all used in the same sentence. Positively. Just sayin'.
  • Within your carb amounts it shouldn't be a problem. By the gallon? Probably not.
  • Experiment with your own tolerance level. Test with a glucose meter an hour after only drinking your tea with or without. Watch other markers that you know are specific to you. My own gut opinion is that small amounts on occasion shouldn't make a big difference. ....in most people. But each of us are different. If you ate…
  • Steak. When in doubt eat steak. Steak is always the answer.
  • I have lost two re-sized wedding bands. Going for my original from 36 years ago! And when I make it, you'll hear it !!

  • It is very interesting, and hearing about your journey helps. Thank you Mr. Goat!
  • It depends. No one answer here, but generally as follows. Carbs low - foundation. In weight loss phase? You absolutely can eat too much fat. If you're morbidly obese it won't matter much in the first 6 months or so of ketosis. Weight still drops off. After that you will most likely stall. In maintenance phase fat is 70 to…
  • Where you start and where you're going matters. Start 350+ morbidly obese 6' male. Long ways to go, but we can do this. Disclaimer - my situation is unique, as is yours. Different health conditions, body types, even goals dictate a different approach. Here is what's working for me. Initially focus is on 20 grams total…
  • Yo Yo low carbing is not fun... In, all in is the way this Way Of Eating grows wings.
  • 20 total is a good starting point for most people depending on your goals. Allow 4 to 6 weeks to fully keto adapted before tinkering. Sodium. 3-5 grams per day. Water. Lots. Magnesium. Binge research. Plus 1 on the launch pad.
  • Yup. For simplicity and ease Phinney recommends one cube in the morning and one at night, which with my cubes is 5 grams of salt. Keto adapted two main phobias seem to be recurring, fat and salt. Glad you're finding what works.
  • Research like crazy. Information is your friend, half truths will derail you. Start with the launch pad. Go from there.
  • Opinions abound, but there is general consensus that 20 total is a good place to start if you can. 4-6 weeks is generally what it takes to shift your body's primary fuel away from so much glucose to more fat burning. Tons of weight to lose? Relationship to food to change? This is a good time to discover and work on them.…
  • Isn't it!?! My problem is that it cranks my fat calories more than I want while I'm in weight loss mode. I want more of my fat calories to come from my own body fat! My compromise is cutting down to 5 ml of virgin coconut oil and the same of Kerrygold butter. That gives me fewer calories but still the wonderful taste and…
  • Feel free to add. I'm a keto lifer and compulsive logger other than when foreign traveling keeps me away from the net.
  • Hang in. You can do this. I've done the same, lost 70 lbs then got depressed when the scale wouldn't move, instead of focusing on the joy and health I had achieved. Working on the mental / heart side of my eating, fighting for a long term mindset. I'm still in weight loss mode, but will be eating some version of this way…
  • Do you have a bunch of weight to lose? If so, don't worry too much about the fat - your body will supply it. Carbs low is the macro you "worry" about, then moderate protein, then fat as needed to satiety and to stave off cravings. Your body "sees" dietary and body fat as the same and will draw first from what you eat, then…
  • Love popcorn too much and would eat ridiculous amounts, so this is another 'emotional' eating thing that I lay aside. I've brought in pork rinds, pepperoni, sliced and weighed cheese, or weighed nut portions, or because I'm keto adapted simply eaten nothing and been fine.
  • I delete any inactives or closed diaries. A month or so maybe? Unless I know them personally. I'm happy to refriend someone if they come back. Just keeping the list clean. I've also considered but not acted on trimming my list when all they post about is bread, high carbage, and cheating. Again, I ask myself, why? I'm…
  • So, my conflict is that I am trying to get enough protein, so I've been eating 3 meals. Hard to get my protein in otherwise. I'm feeling full, so I'm not going to eat. Conflicted.
  • Posts like this are SO motivational to not cheat! Thank you! Sorry for the thread hijack - keto on!
  • Coconut oil, magnesium, hydration, and giving your body time to keto adapted will take care of the regularity issues. Math is not my strong suit and I tend to carb creep if I count net, so total it is. 20-30 per day is my sweet spot. But then I'm starting morbidly obese with not the greatest relationship with food!
  • Keto lifer, feel free to add!
  • These type of threads are awesome motivation! Keep calm and keto on!
