  • Hi, Ive done the Race for Life 3 times now - once about 4 years ago, walked it all. Then last year I managed to run about half of it (interval training), then Sunday I did it in Guildford and managed to run IT ALL !!!! Woop woop. Thrilled with the achievement, so pleased with myself. I do the weekly Park Runs -…
  • Dribble dribble... I will be fed up of it by the end of the week! LOL. I have a tendency to love something and eat it "to death" and then get bored of it... hee hee. All fab ideas though thanks, gonna try roasted veg with it next time too. xx
  • Thanks all. Great ideas. I never think to use stock instead of just water to "cook" the couscous, but that might be a good idea. I like the mixture of textures, so crunchy red pepper, spring onions, sweetcorn etc. I just did very simply - couscous, red pepper, spring onion, sweetcorn, tuna, jalopenos and sweet thai chilli…
  • Ah now that sounds great, quick n easy too. Thanks, M
  • Mmmm.. love couscous, loving these ideas. Thanks. Love the bfast couscous idea - what a great idea, with banana.. mmmm.... x
  • bump - love couscous! :)
  • bump - i am in the same boat, will come back later to hear advice xx
  • I think I posted this wrongly... as a reply to one post, so I'm not sure if you all saw it or not.. so apologies for repeating myself.. :-) I ran my 5km Race for Life yesterday (Sunday) - managed it all without stopping, coming in at 35mins 53 seconds. Soooo proud of myself! ;-) There were 1000s of women all…
  • Hi there, yeah I did 5km on Sunday (Race for Life for Charity) - really pleased as I did it in 35 mins 53 seconds. WITHOUT STOPPING !!! I am already thinking about the next stage - 10km I reckon. I want to continue training, as I am really enjoying it, ALWAYS wanted to be able to run. :-) x
  • [Just a thought on waiting to get new shoes- I went out and bought my first pair of true "running" shoes 2 weeks ago and believe me there was no wearing them in at all!! I was in love the moment I put them in- you should have seen the look on the guys face and I actually giggled and jumped up and down. I just wanted to go…
  • Hi Ryan, I have recently started these (there's one near me in Frimley, Surrey), I've done it 3 times now. AND as I'm away in the SW this weekend visiting family - I have already sussed out there is a similar Park Run Event near there, so I don't have to miss out this weekend while away. I have truly caught the bug! :-) Mel
  • Someone else suggested new trainers, I do need to invest in a new pair to be honest. I was waiting til after the 5km event on Sunday, so I don't have to worry about wearing them in. :) Strength training might be worth a look too - I can't do lunges as it hurts one of my knees, so tend to avoid those. But squats are good,…
  • Wow! Half marathon - good for you! when's that ? Good luck with the training... I don't want to jump the gun, but I'm already thinking about wanting to do a 10km. It's funny you mention running exclusively outdoors, I had to run indoors yesterday (due to the weather here) but it was horrendous on a treadmill. No…
  • I'm with a guy 9 years younger than me (I'm 36, and he is 27).. I never thought I would be attracted to someone so much younger, always such a big deal for me. Always attracted to older guys in the past - been married before, to a guy 7 yrs older than me (long time ago!)... and dated since then, guys older than me too.…
  • Hi Lora (presumably!).. :) That's good to know. I'm not too worried about my time currently - just gives me something to aim for. Tell me.. can you run all 5km without stopping, or do you need to walk at times ? That for me was the biggest achievement, and I've completed it without stopping twice now, and while there are…
  • Wow! What a great story, well done you xx You should be very proud xx
  • I often plan the night before, but it's not set in stone, it's important to go with what you fancy and not eat for the sake of it, IE only eat when you're hungry (which I am getting better at!)... I like to know that if I'm having something high in cals that I can plan for a low cal bfast and lunch to keep it all in check,…
  • Wow! You look fab.. great stuff. You've done so well. Impressed x
  • Hi, I'm from Fleet, Hampshire. Been on here for a little while, but I drift in and out of motivation! Back on it now... I've lost 1 stone, but I've about 2 stone to go... Just started running, quite enjoying it. Although it is still so hard (!).... Feel free to add me, let's motivate eachother, good luck and welcome to…
  • Wow! You look incredible! Well done you.. so impressed. What an inspiration! Go girl! :) xx
  • Chicken Crabsticks/seafood sticks bananas :)
  • Hi, Would be interested to hear what people think of JUST DANCE. I too hate the gym with a passion, I love cycling (but the UK weather has put paid to that for now!! Roll on the spring, fed up of the damn rain!!)... Tried a few different classes, which I enjoyed but never enough stick with them beyond a couple of weeks.…
  • Hi Nicky, Added you earlier. Welcome to MFP! :) This is a really good site, I've lost touch with it a bit of late, but I'm back on it now. I live in Fleet Hampshire, wanted to say howdy! :) x
  • Has this died a death ? I really want to take part! :) xx
  • I don't suppose this is still happening is it ? I have just ordered Wii Just Dance 2 and 3 - arriving tomorrow... I want to set up a challenge! :) x
  • Give me an idea of how many cals you are burning on this ? I fancy giving this a go... The Just Dance in particular - as i too have ZERO co-ordination. Can you just do a few songs at a time, or is it set up as an hour class or ?? How does it work ?? x
  • Hi, Ive heard swimming is good when you have issues with joints. I don't like swimming I have to say, not only is there the swimwear issue (!).... but also I find it quite dull, just up n down. But it's not for everyone I guess, I know a lot that love it. What about walking ? On a treadmill - might be less impact than on…
  • Thanks all - you are all duly added. Appreciate your support - yes let's spur eachother on. Are you UK MFP users or from the US ? Curious as to where you are all from... :-) It's tough because for the first time in a LONG time, I am truly happy - getting married next year, all is "lining up" - but I still continue to beat…
  • When is the wedding by the way ? We are getting married April 2013. How are you finding MFP ? Are you strict ? What cals do you allow yourself ? Do you lose EVERY week ? x
