Lifting will not only help with getting rid of the fat but will give you GREAT definition in the long run....Go for it!

Exercise was the only thing that helped. Diet is great, but after a while, you need the muscle gains to help with metabolism.

LOL!! OMGosh! My hubby's grandmother (RIP) told me I was getting fat. I was 6 month pregnant. :grumble:

I kind of like that old people can randomly insult people and fart loudly in public. When I do those things, it doesn't fly. :noway: More to the point: CONGRATS on your success!! In closing: Fallout Boy says it best "I don't care what you think as long as it's about me..." he noticed you... just saying...

I buy over $50 in fresh produce weekly.... I eat at least 4 cups of veggies per day. someone posted greek yogurt and bananas...TOTALLY...I have tons of greek yogurt mixed with protein powder (makes a very healthy and protein-dense mousse). I don't eat much fruit, but the kiddos love it. My fave is definitely peppers, all…

Cngrats on your weight loss! You are more than halfway to your goal! WOOHOO!!!! Increase in activity could be muscle swelling/building and possible fluid from that? I agree with poster above about not fretting, 6 pounds in one week is not really the norm.

I have personally seen great results from Jillian Michael's 30 day shred and ripped in 30. The videos are very great and have varying levels of difficulty and options. Also, she uses lighter weights and would be great for a beginner. I use heavier ones now,(10lbs) but started with 3lbs dumbbells. I love the vids because…

I eat about 4-5 cups of raw veggies per day (peppers, cukes, celery and sometimes a pickle to change the taste) and by the time I am done those, I don't want to put another thing in my mouth for a while... It's tough when you get started because your brain and body are used to eating/feeling a certain way. I also work my…

Les Mills BodyPump with increased weight, a run and maybe some JM Shred when the kiddies are in bed.

I would tell him, very bluntly, that farting in a colleague's office is not only rude but disrespectful. And ask him to stop. Also, to keep his derogatory comments to himself. Some people have NO social graces...clearly, you have found one...

^^^^ THIS! totally, this.

I have a cup of plain greek yogurt with one scoop of Myofusion Elite Chocolate protein powder. It's like chocolate mousse...and it's my breakfast!

14 lbs is not minor! Every lb in the right direction is worth a happy dance! Congrats to you and can't wait to hear more of your successes as you go on!

I drink wine and beer, mostly on a weekend and on a given day. I work for my drink calories. If I know I am going to have a few drinks, I will make sure I go for a long run or a good cardio class at the gym. That way, the cals fit my macros. (sort of...) Not sure how old you are but when I was in my early 20s I partied…

I love my stilettos. I wear them when I go out and when I am at work. But for the gym, I use appropriate footwear. That means running shoes to run, UA lifting shoes to lift...see where I'm going with this? If you walk in stilettos all day at work, you will help tone your legs and glutes...no need for the shenanigans.…

I subscribe to that approach to a certain degree as well. I "earn' my beer cals. Luckily, I do not like chocolate (I know *gasp*). But I love my beer and wine. I don't see anything wrong with earning the cals to indulge. Although, I won't feel guilty if I indulge without earning, I will just work out a little harder and…

What type of working out are you doing? Cardio? If so, I totally get what you mean and ugh....so annoying. I wear tampons so I don't have the same issue. I work out especially hard during TOM because it eases cramps and bloating for me. If you are lifting, a pad is fine. I agree with compression shorts, that is a GREAT…

More is one of my fave songs...get me pumped!!

I like rock mostly. Halestorm (explicit though - so if you're sensitive to bad words, not for you), Metallica, Imagine Dragons, Fallout Boy, Hedley, Ellie Goulding, Aerosmith, Evanescence, Mari Mai (I'm French so I listen to lots of French stuff) And I agree with ALL will.i.am stuff...

I only weigh in occasionally because I am lifting and the scale will say the opposite of my clothes and measurements. I beilieve in inches and body fat percentage an the scale as the final tool to assess progress. :) I also don't have much weight to lose at this point so toning is the name of the game.

I work out 7 days/ week (I don't log lifting days). I do something different everyday. (i.e. different muscle groups) and do a lot of HIIT, I sometimes double up and do a workout mid-day and again at night. I try to do 50-60 minutes daily of SOMETHING. Whatever that looks like, just get moving and don't overdo it, if you…

don't have a backup plan...plan to train for a half, then six months out train for the whole...you'll do it. Even if you walk the second half, you can complete your distance! Be confident! Completing is your main goal on the first try. I can't wait to read about your 8th marathon completed in under 4hrs in two years' time!…

I'm GI and I eat oatmeal...eggs, toast, bacon... my favourite breakfast is Quest bars and a banana right now. I'm a protein bar/shake junkie though. I love quest bars with a good coffee. ;) Welcome to the GF club.

I LOVE IT WHEN PEOPLE START RUNNING! YAY! Good luck, have fun and welcome to the Runner's World!! ;) I run long and short distances, and have done so for about 7 years or so. IMO, shoes are top priority ( I run in Saucony exclusively because they just do running shoes better - and this is after spending hundreds upon…
