  • You will feel sick as hell. It's awful. I tried it when I was anorexic. Honestly, I'd consult your physician, as I do not know the biology behind it. However, to my knowledge, your insides are very good at removing waste and "toxins" (notice how they never specify what these toxins are?) itself, unless you are *very*…
  • Hm, I'd maybe cheat for a MEAL... you can do a lot of damage in 1 day if you completely drop everything. I'd suggest just treating yourself whenever you want, but making it fit in your calories and macros. Then you'll never go crazy and need these binge days.
  • You are super pretty, and your weight loss highlights that even more! Good job!!
  • I like my hip:waist ratio and my eyes! Ever since I started advertising I was become much happier with myself and more accepting of my flaws, since I know I work so hard on myself.
  • Mine just has a fridge full of up&go drinks (high energy milk drink things) and milk for mixing into protein shakes, it's a couple dollars for 250mL etc. I think also like gatorade and water. What's the gym that has pizza? Planet Fitness? I can understand going to that gym because it sounds cheap... but it's so backwards!…
  • I'm sorry Rosalind... that's rough :-( I joined a gym yesterday and jogged for 2km straight, personal record! I think I will do the shred on each day that I do not go to the gym just so I don't drive myself crazy.
  • HRM is the only way. Otherwise, log it as circuit training, but take it with a large grain of salt.
  • wrong, you can't gain muscle mass unless you are eating a calorie surplus. You WILL however, lose less muscle because you are using them, which will "slow down" your weight loss but really you are losing the same amount of fat. It can also take over a month of dedicated weight lifting to put on a lb of muscle.
  • If you're referring to gaining/not losing when starting the shred, you are correct! You will begin retaining water weight in your muscles to repair them. But you are not actually getting fatter haha, quite the opposite. The water weight will start to fall off as your body gets used to the exercise, and pile on again when…
  • I found a gym that's $10 p/w and I'm joining with my friend on Monday! I will try to keep up the shred but I did start it because I didn't have access to a gym, where I'd do cardio and lift weights (to a similar effect as the shred). But I want to stay dedicated and keep with it! So we'll see. I skipped yesterday, which is…
  • Yay for learning about food! Althought honestly I don't know the answer to your question haha. Wholegrains have not had the "husk" removed from the grain, which can yield a different texture but much more fiber and other nutrients. Wholegrains are just fine for weight loss, you are doing way better than most people…
  • Weigh raw, it is very difficult for the label makers to guess how much your food would weigh when cooked (did you steam it? or dehydrate it in the oven? or let absorb water? all those things will change its weight) so the info is given in an uncooked state. Unless it says otherwise of course!
  • Avoid high carb foods or caffeine purely because these can keep you awake. Otherwise eat whenever you want. :-) Your body is resting & repairing when you sleep, and still burning calories, it isn't dead.
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner - as someone here has said - are cultural concepts. We enjoy eating so we do it all day. In the wild, or before we had the luxury, you ate when you killed something or when food was otherwise available. Also, to the many people saying "breakfast is key to weight loss", please link some…
  • While I agree with you, skipping breakfast is not bad at all, I don't do it as I like the energy in the morning and the structure in my day. Intermittent fasting is proven and successful when done correctly, anyone denying this is blind. However, it matters very little WHEN you eat your food as long as you eat it.…
  • It is SO estimated and different per person than any number it gives you will probably be wrong.
  • More protein and fiber
  • ... MFP did not make you gain weight. I think you are trying to comfort yourself over your weight gain. Only you control what goes in your mouth.
  • Yeah I don't have the coordination to do the pendulum lunges, so I just lunge forward alternating legs. I have never talked out loud when I'm by myself before, but if I'm really winded I'll swear at her. Hahaha. I actually downloaded season 1 of biggest loser because I love trashy reality TV, and they get to party with…
  • I was 117.8 this morning (guilty of weighing twice in a row!) which is quite a loss o.o gonna see tomorrow if it was real... I just finished day 3 of Level 2, I still have to take a couple breather breaks (5-7 sec max) and it kicks my *kitten*!! a whole body sweat feels great when you're done... a cold chocolate protein…
  • I personally try not to, but if I go over a couple grams I don't stress. Our bodies are pretty smart and adaptive. I do count all the sugars in fruits and veggies towards my budget though. Should be fine :-)
  • There isn't really "good" sugar. It's good in the sense that it's packaged with natural fiber (in the fruit and veggies) which helps your liver process the fructose. But it is no different from sucrose, aka table sugar.
  • Your body can keep burning calories for hours after your workout, depending on how much strength training you did. Really any time 2-3 hours after is fine; consider that your body takes a LONG time to rebuild muscle, and your body takes a LONG time to digest & distribute protein. It's not as exact as some people say it is.…

  • SlimFast has all sorts of nasty things in it for you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d-7xhlMktI&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PL059F06B3606700C6 You're better off eating a small protein dense meal for breakfast, imo.
  • Watch this!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdMjKEncojQ It explains how sugar enters our body and the effect it has on our body. It's really interesting. Sugar is really pretty bad for you in large amounts. I try to keep it under 40g a day (and most end up being from milk, fruit etc) and 50g is the healthy maximum as far…
  • I'm using Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey. It's SO DELICIOUS. It's the only one I've tried, but let me tell you, it's great. Tastes just like thick chocolate milk in the Extreme Milk Chocolate flavor. They have something like 20 diff flavors as well, and I like the nutritional breakdown of the product itself. I highly…
  • I use little bits of stevia here and there. It has been used for DECADES in other countries, and nothing negative about it has been proven (yet). All the studies are ambiguous. Because of the "yet", though, I keep my intake minimal. A sprinkle in my coconut fudge pops, a wheatmeal pancake recipe, etc. It does come from a…
  • Try googling reviews, there are huge communities of body builders who eat hundreds of grams of protein a day, and let me tell you, do they have thorough protein bar/protein shake reviews. Haha.
  • "Starvation mode" Is when you are eating 50% of your BMR. It will not stop weight loss in the long run, but it can dramatically reduce your metabolism.
