  • Cooked frozen shrimp! Fresh spinach, mushrooms, low fat cheese and stuff for omelets.
  • I don't have a lot to offer you. I'm glad that I am not an emotional eater. But I am a bored eater. Usually when my emotions are running high - good or bad - I forget to eat, which throws me off in other ways. I know lots of emotional eaters and they have sometimes been successful identifying what 'hole' they are trying to…
  • Yeah you!!!! That's awesome that you got the ole treadmill back in action!!! Congrats aned way to go:flowerforyou:
  • Tomorrow is a new day. Regarding hating to throw things away - don't throw away your health!!! Our great mentor on this site - Loretta Jo - put a great thought in my mind "do you love it enough to wear it?" I think about that all the time when I am doing the bored eating thing. Start fresh tomorrow!
  • Then I would do with what Jessneill has to say. Lightly spray using an atomizer - or get a can of Pam or something similar. I use chicken broth a lot too.
  • What are you using it in? Baking? stir-fry?
  • Well, I think you have an answer whether you like to exercise or not. I can't ever say I like too myself, but it's good for me to do so. And so I do! If you have been receiving guidance from a Diet Center and it has been working for you up till now i would ask them. Otherwise all I can offer is that moving your body…
  • It's hard for me to get to sleep. So I start lowering all the lights in my house around 8:30-9PM. I also do the chamomile or sleepytime tea and try to really begin to quiet my mind and acitivity. I try to actually get to bed to watch the 10PM news and usually end up actually sleeping by the time it is over. I get up early…
  • Are you exercising at all?
  • Tonight my husband made fondue with a new twist. Instead of oil for the meat or fish, he used chicken broth to make it healthier. It worked out pretty well. Next time we are going to marinate the meat in a variety of sauces before we fondue and I think that would add a lot to it. But it was fun to fondue and not have all…
  • There's a lot suggestions... I would look at a lot of other posts to get some good ideas. Fruit and veggies are my favorite. I particularly like an apple with peanut butter. I snack on cherry tomatoes, celery, cucumbers, etc. I try to stay away from carbs - but occassionally do go for the 100 calorie snack bags. There are…
  • hummm.. 'their' way isn't always good either. I studied in Costa Rica for a while and their way of making refried beans is to use lard -- Yucky. Some of the greasiest food I have ever was native German. There are examples of all types of ethnic foods, good and bad. So stick to eating healthy food, whatever variety it is…
  • Calm down - it's okay!!! Many things could be happening - such as that you either you gained muscle or you're carrying water weight. One weigh in does not a diet make.... Think of it this way, all week you took care of yourself and your heart by exercising and the great news is you didn't gain any weight. Don't be so hard…
  • I can't imagine that there is any particular ethnic food that is completely 'healthy'. You may not know if they prepared the chicken with broccoli using dark meat, white meat, fat and skin or the same concerns with pork, beef, etc. Most boullions that they use for gravies have lot of fat. and the sodium is ridiculously…
  • Welcome! I used to go to Curves and it worked at first, but I got bored and only toned the same muscles over and over. The nice thing about belonging to a gym that offers a variety of options is just that - you have a variety of options. So it really depends on what you are looking for and how you get inspired to work out.…
  • Nope and it doesn't sound like much of a cocktail party - or even a good Irish wake for that matter! Hopefully you didn't have to stick around long or the atmosphere changed.
  • I agree with those who say eat something. It sounds like you are staying on track with your water intake. Many times we substitute our feelings of thirst with feelings of hunger, but that shouldn't be an issue for you right now. Just be smart about it - your body is telling you something. Listen carefully to what your body…
  • Your body will adjust to the healthy food- it just takes time (and patience)!
  • Well technically your question was how often I eat at a chain or fast food restaraunt. In that case I would say rarely. But in reality I do eat out about twice a week - never to a chain or fast food place though! I also believe that just because you eat out doesn't mean you eat unhealthy and just because you eat at home…
  • Chewing gum makes me more hungry - the body is anticipating something and getting nothing but an excess of digestive fluid. This will be a monthly occurance, so get prepared to handle it each time. My personal survival strategy is to indulge in a cup of hot chocolate at night. It's much better (calories wise) than a piece…
  • Shrimp, apples with peanut butter, cheese, and eggs! Not all together though:laugh:
  • I actually have consumed too much water once. It was a really PAINFUL experience!!! As with everything - moderation is the key. If you drink a ton of water just make sure you are getting all your nutrients with it! Water is the great elixer of life, but when it comes in great quantities if can be harmful as well.
  • I'm just sicker than a dog and have been for about a week. My exercise has been posting! I guess I will make up for it when I am back in the saddle again. I'm thrilled by everyone elses success and it is motivating me for whenever I can get going.
  • Check out this post: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/3619-weight-loss-and-water-weight
  • There seem to be a lot of postings right now regarding water weight and fluctuations on the scale which may be attributable to water weight. This article does a nice job of summarizing how it all works! http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/scale.htm
  • No doubt, but I thought maybe there was an inside (Canadian) joke I didn't know about.... And I have slept in an igloo (or at least a good attempt at it) on a winter camping skills trip - surprisingly warm!
  • Don't panic! It could just be water weight. I fluctuate a lot when I have salty meals. It will be fine - just drink a ton of water today to get it out of your system.
  • Sounds amazing - thanks for sharing this great recipe!
  • Everybody is different in how it works and adapts to a new lifestyle of healthy eating and living. Some more quickly drop fat, some more quickly convert to muscle - which weighs more. Stay on the program and it will work out. I would be more concerned if you were a slump where nothing was happening. In that case you have…
