  • I love when that happens (the just x distance thing) great running
  • No records for me tomorrow Robbie, I'm driving an unofficial 2hr pace bus, to help some friends and other runners out. Turns out there is also an official 2hr pacer, but I've got a feeling that pacer is gun time, not net. Glad the run went well, keep going with the easy runs for a while longer mate :)
  • All the advice is good. As long as you're listening to your body and not trying to speed through the program, pretty much anything that isn't running is ok as a rest day. When you're new to all this though, it is good to have a true 100% rest day every week. In 6 months or so, you could add a 4th day of running, after that…
  • Good work on coming back to the program :) Don't repeat the runs unless you totally blow up, and even then, if it's just one run still move onto the next. Incline is good, speed is irrelevant. As long as you're running, keep progressing through the program. Worry about speed after you finish C25K... ideally wait until…
  • About 2yrs ago I picked up C25K for the second time, and started in Week 2. Finished the program, kept running. Found parkrun, ran a lot. 12months after starting I did a HM, and then 2 weeks ago I made a (stupid) leap into a 12hr event and ran 85.3km. Trust in the program, run slower, take your rest days, run slower…
  • Great work everone! @JSC145 for social chatter stay here, for encouraging others, here and C25K group. For serious discussion, the LDR group @maggiekat7 Try and stick to your prescribed paces, the Endo plan will adjust itself if it needs too. If you run the wrong paces in intervals, you won't get as much out of them as you…
  • Thanks everyone :) Before the event I was averaging 60ish km a week, usually with at least 1 run exceeding 20km. The week before, I had actually hit 90k for the week. Even though I regularly hit 20-24k in a run, there was some mental block about pushing much beyond that amount, especially in a solo run (How I do most of my…
  • @Just_Ceci Do the run!!! and pull your finger out on your plan :p @DianaLovesCoffee Hope your brain was right, and that you also had a good vacation @moyer566 Wise move, it's better to start a little too slow than to go too hard and injure. Once you've been running a while you'll know when you're pushing too hard.…
  • Thanks @skippygirlsmom :)
  • Echoing the above, Conga-rats to @eyethree , @LLduds, and @maggiekat7 for finishing the program. @eyethree 3-4 times a week sounds good. Honestly though, I would find a way to suffer through the afternoon heat, even if it's just 1 run a week and shorter (Start at 1mile and build up). Once you learn to run in the heat, when…
  • Thanks everyone! I think this goes to show if you can get the training miles in, you can go further than you ever expected.
  • QFT ^^^ Well done everyone, I've been in a bit of a mental haze/daze since last weekend. Still ticking my runs over though. I realised Early August marks 2yrs from when I tried to start running regularly and mid/late August is when I picked up C25K (W2) to have a program.
  • @LLduds As you run you begin to knock down walls, the longer you run, the more incredible the walls and barriers you knock down are, especially once you've got a good foot in the running community. Not that it would have mattered if I didn't know anyone at the track ultra, nearly everyone is out there for fun and will…
  • Well that's a perfect reason to post (again?) :)
  • Personally I think if you've got the time (or can find it) to do longer runs, then a Bridge to 10k program is the best way to progress. By the time you've finished that you can usually decide how you want your running to progress and find an appropriate plan.
  • I won. I freaking won it! 85.3km in 12 hours. Was great till the last 2, then it was a sufferfest
  • Hi everyone, I'm number 18
  • A short puppy run this morning to keep the streak going. And for anyone who wants to follow me trying to run around a 1/4mile track for 12 hours tomorrow(Aus time) , the live tracking link is. http://my3.raceresult.com/38929/results?lang=en#0_4C728B It starts at 11am West Aus time, and I'll hopefully be running until 11pm.…
  • Thanks :)
  • @ftrobbie Sending healing wishes your way mate, hope you're back at full power soon. We change direction every 3 hours, so that will help (Marginally) we will begin with 52 people. Up to 17 of which are on the inside 2 lanes (24hr competitors, unless they are walking) the rest of us are in lanes 3-5. I'll definitely have…
  • Great work and claim your 1hr!!! There is no way on earth I'm going to run for the full 12. I doubt I will even be moving for the full 12.
  • @Just_Ceci Yup... a 1/4mile track. I doubt I'll run for the full 12 hrs. If I hit 50k without breaking I'll be happy. Although there are only 4 men in the 12hr category, so I may be tempted to be stupid and go for a podium...... Good work on your run, and hope the plan does what you want :) @DianaLovesCoffee That's still a…
  • Good run last night, even though I failed at my intervals. I have now fallen into running in the 12hr category of a track ultra, which has 3, 6, 12 and 24hr categories. Not quite sure how it happened, but it has so ummm yeah. Oh and it's this weekend.
  • Everyone is human, and just because someone is a coach, doesn't mean everything they say will be right. Your daughters technique sounds much better, and how I've already read (and try to do myself) that you should do hills. If he is adamant she should be doing hills his way, he should be able to explain why it is better,…
  • Poor girl, but I'm sure you're looking after her well, now you know what's going on. Yeah my girl is decent size (Nearly 120lbs), though for her looks, that depends on what you like. My housemate/ex says she's as ugly as sin(Jokingly), but I don't think so. I didn't exercise her much as a younger pup due to the hip…
  • @maggiekat7 I've got what is supposedly an English Mastiff X Rottweiller, but honestly I think there is Great Dane in there, and possibly something else. She's 3.5 but unfortunately has hip dysplasia so I need to be careful with her exercise. Dress for at least 10 degrees warmer than it feels, not forecast. I'm someone…
  • Hope you find your mojo again Robbie, and soon mate. I know how crazy I went when my mileage dropped significantly. Good work on the boys and their bike riding :) @maggiekat7 Good work on your runs, but yeah stay away from 10mph, that's a fairly cracking pace lol @DianaLovesCoffee Great progress there! Gotta love when you…
  • I've been reading, just haven't found time to comment on everyone runs and now there is too much. Robbie & MM hope your runs pick up, it sounds like you're onto a solution MM JSC, Samra and Maggie, it sounds like you're all moving along nicely. Maggie, 13% isn't that steep compared to some hills I hit. People make segments…
  • It really depends on how far you got, and how much you feel your capable of. If you're unsure, you can do what some other returning runners have done, and simply done the first routine for week 1, if that felt too easy, next run, they did W2D1, and kept going up a week until they felt like they were at the right place.
