Track Ultra WA (West Aus) 12hr - I WON!!!
On the weekend I had my first foray into a Track Ultra (Any Ultra actually). Due to someone having to pull out earlier in the week, I had snared an entry into the 12hr event, and I won it! I ran an official total of 85.3km over the 12 hours, which more than tripled my previous longest run. There were 3, 6, 12 and 24 hour…

12hr race Tips/Advice?
I've been silly/stupid and ended up with an entry into the 3/6/12/24hr WA(Aus) Track ultra this weekend, I'm in the 12hr category. It's being run on an athletics track, with direction changes every 3 hours. I'll be able to set a table and stuff up on the outside of the track to be my aid station. I've never done anything…

Splitting runs
I'm currently hoping by the end of this month I will be consistently running about 70-80km a week, and I would like to increase that in the new year once I've adjusted to it. Unfortunately 70-80km is also probably the limit of my available time without splitting my runs. I've investigated the route and running to work is…

Sub 3hr Marathon, possible or dreaming?
Ok, so not that long ago I did my first Half Marathon, I went out with a group pacing for a sub 2hr finish, I left them about half way through and finished in 1:54:26 (Net time. Gun was about 2 minutes faster) I had a fairly decent negative split on the HM. This course has about 891 feet of elevation change (According to…

Newbie to 75km Ultra??
Ok so I know there is a wealth of knowledge here, so I figured I would try and draw on it. I've been asked if I am interested in a 75km run next year (Fundraising run). I am putting some thought into it, but I worry I may break down in the ramp up to it. Ok my 'stats' are 34yr old male. Picked up a Couch 2 5km program in…

Dull pain at back of knee
Well it looks like I have my first 'ongoing niggle'.. Last week after riding my horse at the beach, I felt like I had tweaked my knee while trying to stay on. Sunday night it still hurt, Monday it hurt getting out of the car so I skipped my run, by Wed I was feeling fine, so I ran Wed, ran Friday, did parkrun on…

Spartan Super then Sprint same weekend
Am I crazy for considering this? Spartan races are coming to Perth next year and they have their Super Spartan on Saturday and then the Spartan Sprint on Sunday. I'm planning to do both. I've done a few obstacle runs so far, but haven't done any spartans. Any advice besides train, train and train some more?

Training Advice
Hi All, I was hoping I could get some advice/constructive criticism on my training program for the tough mudder in about 8 weeks. Once past the mudder I may continue with it. Unfortunately I don't have access to a gym, nor weights in a normal manner. Ok so program is Monday AM 2km walk/jog Monday PM 3-5 sets of Pullups 4…

NSV I got out of bed!
Ok, while getting out of bed normally isn't a cause for celebration for me. This morning I got out of bed at 4:45am, got dressed and took the dogs for a 2km walk before showering and heading into work (Damn early work start!) This is part of my new routine, hopefully the first day was/is the hardest.

Tough Mudder Training
So last weekend I did my first mud race. It was the Western Mudd Rush which I believe is specific to Western Australia. It's a 9km long mud/obstacle race. I have very few issues with any of the obstacles (Except the rings, need to increase grip strength/stamina) but I realised my stamina/cardio is severly lacking. I was…

Western Mudd Rush
I've just set up an open team for the Western Mudd Rush next year ( http://westernmuddrush.com/) If you're interested in joining and competing, the team name is Perth MFPeeps (yeah I know, not that inventive) I'm not sure how long until the entries close as they have already had over 1000 entries. So who else is…

Canine Hip Dysplasia :(
Our 7 month old Mastiff cross pup has just been diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia :( I am wondering if anyone on here has unfortunately had experience with this either in a young dog or an older one. We've just started her on Pentosan and are waiting for Technyflex (Green lipped mussel based suppliment) to come in to help her…

Keep moving NSV
Ok my fitness switch (for cardio stuff at least) has definitely been flipped & got stuck to on. Plans to go blow **** up today were cancelled & I hadn't heard anything, so I headed out for a walk. I walked 7 k going by google maps, before I got a call about todays activities, I had about an hour to get back to my hotel etc…

A little NSV
I am currently packing for a work trip to Mongolia and whilst going through the closet I found a belt I used to wear when I was about 16/17. I could see the hole right at the end, where I had made it larger for a short use. Being curious I decided to see if it fit on the hole that I used to wear it. It did! True this is up…

Help flatten tummy
Lets make this clear to begin with. I know there is nothing such as spot reduction and I don't expect anything. I am looking for exercises to HELP flatten my tummy and tighten my core. Even when I was back in my teens at high school and had a BF of less than 10% (Gods those were the days) I have had a 'pot' belly.' type…

Kinda New
I hate having to describe myself and these introduction type posts. I've been here for a month or so, a few weeks longer on the app. I was never that far over weight, but I took a business trip and pants I had worn comfortably previously were painful to wear because my belly was pushing into a button, a previous business…

Small NSV
I was having regular horse riding lessons last year, I had to stop this year due to an old bull riding injury playing up. Last week I managed to start my riding lessons again. I had lost around 10lbs from when my instructor last saw me (last year) to my lesson this year, and during the lesson she commented that I seemed to…

11lbs(5kg) in 3 weeks. Is it too fast?
Howdy ya'll, I've been on MFP for about 3 weeks now. I set my activity level as sedentary and loss at 2lbs a week, and it set my goal around 1360 net. I have averaged closer to 1600 calories a day for the 3 weeks, and have managed to lose about 11lbs so far. Is this too fast? I have just experimented and put my activity at…
