Short answer is : MFP is Stupid! Longer answer : MFP has only several 'speeds' and will round your pace to the nearest one.

It also depends on your garmin, I've found my Fenix 2 consistently measures short compared to friends with other garmins. It used to read long, until a few firmware updates ago.

I'm nursing a dodgy knee at the moment. Glad to hear things are going well for you Ceci!

Whoo! Great work Ceci! I helped out at a 3/6/12 hr race over the weekend, and spent nearly 24 hours on site with like 2 hours sleep. Had a few laps of the 2.5k course walking and running over the event. Aggravated my blisters a little, but they seem to have settled.
-
Nicely done Ceci! My blisters are basically healed now (Not perfect, but ok) and since I haven't had a good hit out lately, I did some 100m pickups during my group run last night, the pickups would have averaged 2:45min/k pace, while the 'recovery' was around 5:20min/k pace. So I'm quite happy with that. I'll probably…

You'll get back there Ceci! My feet aren't healed yet, but they are improving. I managed 4.4k on Tuesday with my dog at the social run (Dog needed me to cut it short!) and then 7.4k with a friend yesterday. I've aggravated the blister on the ball of my left foot a little, but I think I should be ok for parkrun on Saturday.

Great work Ceci! I've been out of action for a week, since a 5k barefoot walk resulted in horrendous blisters that are still giving me grief.
-
A little running been going on for me, just going through post race blues and mojo issues mostly. :( Glad you're getting out again @Just_Ceci and hope you're out again soon @rusgolden !
-
I don't care if it's a participation shirt, or finishers. I won't wear the shirt until post race. If it's a participation I'll wear it regardless of outcome (except DNS) if it's a finishers, I won't wear it unless I finish.

A big update will be coming from me in the next few days, 2 50K races and the Grouse Grind while I was on holidays. I still need to get some uploaded to strava etc LOL

I was in Germany for work and wanted to wander around the city I was staying in (I can't remember the name) While my fitness was more than ample for a nice casual or even decent paced stroll, I was inflicted with the dreaded 'chub rub' and had to keep hiking my pants up to ensure there was fabric separating my thighs...…

As my last big run before my 50k races in the US in a few weeks, I went out for a few hill reps. 3 Reps of 2 joined hills, turning around on the top of the second, gave me just shy of 15miles, and umm about 4700ft of elevation change. Legs are feeling pretty good today. Taper starts now.. two weeks oh feck!
-
Good work MM @rusgolden as MM said, a shorter recovery the day after your long run can and usually does wonders. Good work @NancyN795 :) Umm.. everything is mostly just ticking along for me, a lower mileage week this week just gone as after my DOMS disappeared, there seemed to be a bit of a niggle, so I took a few days off…

Perth City to Surf Half Marathon yesterday for me. Lead up during the week for it was great, but probably a little intense to truly race it, which is fine as I was using it as a fitness test and not a race. Saturday however was definitely NOT the way to spend a day before a race. One of my non running activities is being a…

@rusgolden If you can find somewhere to fit a 4th day in, you'll find it soo much easier to build your weekly mileage, and it doesn't have to be a long one. You could always experiment with running in the afternoon/evening too (depending on family etc) @NancyN795 Great work on the program, and that sounds like a decent…
-
@NancyN795 - Good idea on the re-try, sometimes it happens. You still did the distance though :) @maggiekat7 Great work and well done on pushing through to the end! Yeah it would be the effort that has left you wrecked, but you'll recover and be fine! Training!! lots of training for me, and finding people to run with :)…

I'd planned for a comfortable 16k solo, before my social run last night. Headed out and knocked that over nicely at low 5min/km pace, then tagged in with a friend for a few bonus km's at a slower pace. Then the group run, where I was running mostly comfortably chatting with friends, had one or two faster km's in there too…

I record my C25K (Tyre drag edition) warm ups. (I'm not reporting distance on them ;) ) In my normal (self made) programs, the warmup is usually included as part of the distance and the run. So I'll just do the first km or two at easy pace (Well that's the idea.. doesn't always happen) and pick it up as the session…
-
Welcome back @maggiekat7 always happy to offer advice on programs etc. I've been running on 3 years now and I've only ran like 9 actual races. Not everyone races, and if you're happy just running, then go for it!
-
Great work @NancyN795 bugger about your phone. Maybe you need to close all the background programs and even give it a reboot! Friday I did my brick session again, although went riding in different places. 30K on the bike, and then C25K dragging the tyre. Really hammered the legs. Saturday was parkrun and a friends 100th…
-
The bike/td session on Monday was good, going faster than I expected although partially assisted by an energetic dog! Tuesday I did about 20K some solo, some with a friend and some with my group run. I was actively working to keep that 20k easy and comfortable. Legs felt it though. Last night was the bike/td session, both…

@NancyN795 Just keep ticking along with the programs then. Nothing wrong at all with needing a program to keep you moving. I think more runners than not do better with one. Hope your knee comes good soon. Yay for evading more Zombies Ceci!
-
Great work Nancy and I hope your knee doesn't keep giving you any trouble! Glad everything is going well with you Ceci :) Tonight I progress onto C25K W2D1... increased drag time is going to be interesting, hopefully the wind isn't so brutal on the bike this time too.
-
I'm pretty sure you'd be fine to step off the cruise and run your marathon, assuming you kept your fitness up. Runs back home might be a little harder though.
-
Good to have you running again Ceci, and evading those Zombies! Rus, you're going great guns dude! Heat and Humidity suck, and unfortunately only way to learn to deal with them, is run in them :( Fitter and more experienced you get, the better at judging your expectations on crappy weather days! AglaeaC are you going to…
-
Dude, throw the ego and past achievements out the window and put some tape over the speed display. Run at COMFORTABLE not hard. You're heading for injury town, and it's not a fun place to stop.
-
Use C25K like you're intending once or maybe twice a week, and NOT every week if you're doing twice a week and only running 3 times a week. You'll find the speed coming on. With your other runs just do 10K comfortably, or an hours comfortable running, with whatever distance you end up doing :)
-
Well after various breakages :( And now somewhat foolish decisions, I am training for the Cle Elum 50K to run with a friend, and backing it up with Baker Lake 50K the following weekend... well that's the plan!
-
Decent program, but I found it too circuit/HIIT for me. Although I'm sure I'll revisit down the line.
-
While I can't offer a success story from your start, but consistency and building distance WILL get your times down and your pace up. From what you've said, you've done the program, and then taken a break somewhere down the line. Honestly, consistent running for 6 months, even if it's working through C25K, Bridge to 10K…
