Dull pain at back of knee

Well it looks like I have my first 'ongoing niggle'..
Last week after riding my horse at the beach, I felt like I had tweaked my knee while trying to stay on. Sunday night it still hurt, Monday it hurt getting out of the car so I skipped my run, by Wed I was feeling fine, so I ran Wed, ran Friday, did parkrun on Saturday... Rode my horse again Sunday just gone and the pain is back. It wasn't as bad so I ran on Monday and once I got moving it faded until I was home. Still got a dull ache, and thought I might be ok tonight, faded a little bit, but came back with a vengeance on the hills. So I walked most of my run, I did a few downhill runs and as long as I kept the speed up it felt fine, slowed down and it was back.
Ok so that's the background... now the description in case anyone can ID it and offer stretches or such.
It's a dull pain at the back of my knee, not behind my patella but at the back of the actual knee. When it got worse on the run tonight I could feel the top of my calves tightening too. Sitting/standing doesn't seem to aggravate it, though getting up from sitting can (I tend to step up with my right/injured leg)
If I press against the outside of my knee, just above head of the fibula according to the pic below, I can feel the same ache at the back of knee.
I'm going to ease back on my runs and see what happens. Though I do have a several hour horse ride on Saturday I can't avoid.

Sounds like something I've had for a while. I think it's related to the hamstring. Look at the right side of the diagram below - try hitting those trigger points with a roller or tennis ball.

Thanks for that, managed to pick up a foam roller cheap tonight and I've done a session for both Hammy's and the side of my thigh and I'm already feeling better.0
