  • me too, :) medically speaking, I can tell you why the first part is the hardest. All of your oxygen is going to your large muscle groups..quads, hamstrings, glutes etc. Your lungs can't exchange air quick enough to compensate for about 3-7 minutes. As far as the end...for me it's all mental. I can run two or 26.2 and the…
  • I agree, you should be able to do it without water. Maybe you've just sort of psyched yourself into thinking you can't?? If you absolutely can not do it, then stash a water bottle somewhere along your route prior or run by a fast food joint or gas station where you can run in and get a quick drink. I have run several…
  • I'm on the once a week train! same day every week--and I do it later in the week since my diet seems to be a little more loose on the weekends--this gives me a more accurate reflection of what things are really like!
  • I remember this same thought--Easter 2000---I looked like a giant purple easter egg. I had no idea how it happened. You are lovely. Make a commitment for life, :) You won't be sorry. BEST OF LUCK to you!!!

  • i just paid a lot of attention the first few weeks while I was building my "favorites"/most used lists. I verified everything at first. I agree with the person about going off of "raw ingredients" and then adding the extras. I also use a different web site (nutritiondata.com) that is entered by professionals...so you don't…
  • If you have access to periodicals, maybe on-line?, there is an AWESOME training article in a magazine called Muscle Media--it had amazing wieght lifting articles/training plans in it! i have one from 7-8 years ago that we still pull out and use every few months...also, and I have lifted weights for years, have found, and…
  • you'll love this site---it's been an awesome tool Feel free to add me.
  • I love your HAIRCUT!!! Not sure what it looked like before--but I agree with the others...kids (especially girls!) may adjust to a hair change a little slower....explain to them that you are a NEW person and wanted to try a new style to go with the rest of your changes! In a few days I'll bet they sing a different song!…
  • Welcome!!! I just joined in August but am IN LOVE!!! this site really makes me accountable for what I put in my mouth. (I have not found a way to print those on the same page...so look forward to seeing others response.) Best of luck on your journey---feel free to add me.
  • Hate to burst anyone's TSH bubble, but 24 years of nursing has taught me that adding thyroid medication changes very little when it comes to weight...it accounts for ABOUT 5-7 lbs maybe. I have not seen one person get on thyoid medication and have a dramatic change in their weight. I may take some guff for this...sorry…
  • I agree...and, especially if you're lifting, you need extra protein for muscle recovery. I always try to watch my carbs...things are less "jiggly" that way, :)
  • how about a piece of sew on velcro that will force the strap to stay tighter--?? I did that with my i-pod strap and it worked great. Good luck!!
  • Good for you!!! Taking responsibility for your health is the number one BEST thing you can do to turn things around. I love this site!!! Add me if you'd like, :)
  • welcome to MFP! I love it...also started about a month ago...good luck on your LIFE'S journey to be healthy! Congratulations on taking the rough road..it will soooo pay off later. Feel free to add me, I am an encourager, :)
  • keep up the good work!!! so glad you're lookin and feelin' great!!!
  • i agree with this post--low carbs work best for me too!
  • you have to exercise--maybe not every day, but that's the only way to be healthy long term. Also--find ways to eat MORE food for less calories. You could have half a bagel with peanut butter for 300 calories, but you can also have two egg whites, two pieces of turkey bacon and whole wheat toast for the same calories. don't…
  • good for you! Take charge of your life and responsibility for what you put in your mouth--you will grow to have a new respect for yourself which will lead to others changing the way they view you!!! Welcome....add me if you wish, :)
  • i agree--kudos to your for taking the route that has THE best chance for success!!! at 285 lbs, my friend spend 3 years appealing to her insurance company to pay for lap band--the repeatedly denied her. She finally started putting all that energy into healthy eating and exercise!!! She lost 135 lbs!!! No surgery…
  • p.s. And I would not go to Yoga...you would hate to make yourself worse or expose someone else to something yucky!
  • I would drink a little gatorade/powerade (4-6 ounces) every hour and see if this is just an electrolyte imbalance (the most common cause of dizziness). Have you been drinking alcohol?? could be that your kidneys are just dry. Pick some light, low calorie foods to consume the next few days and try to "right" your system. I…
  • feel free to add me, :) encouragement is my GIFT!!!
  • Wonderful! congratualations on the healthy lifestyle you already lead. Add me if you would like!
  • love spin class--my advice--tell the teacher you're new, get help with proper bike set-up, wear comfortable walking/running shoes and if you reach a point where you can't keep up, just turn down the dial and free spin. That way, you are still active! Hang in there--it gets easier. I thought I would die the first time I did…
  • You can add me too, :)
  • you can add me, :) I joined two weeks ago and have lost 4 lbs already!!!! I love to motive others!
  • Mary, I'm a nurse and see overweight/obese people every day. I'm on a personal and professional mission to educate my patients on learning to rethink what "healthy" looks like! I think you should set a goal weight that will put you at the top of the healthy BMI range--but set small rewards for yourself for every 10 lbs you…
  • I agree, one cup daily as long you log it--helps stimulate your metabolism also.
  • mine is lunch simply because I'm at work and able to sit down for 30 minutes to a good meal. I wish it was breakfast--you know the saying, breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen and dinner like a pauper!!!
  • wonderful, good for you!!
