One more thing to suggest is to wear weightlifting gloves. They will help with your grip if you sweat and will make you feel more confident that you're not going to drop the bar during power presses! I got mine at Dick's.

You should go!! It's awesome! Just use the bar only, or very light weights. Let the instructor know that this is your first class and they will probably suggest some modifications for beginners such as yourself. And if you have to take a break... take a break. Nobody at the gym should judge or you need to find a different…

5 days on, 2 days recovery for me. I have an hour of Step class on Saturday morning, an hour of Les Mills BodyCombat on Sunday afternoon, 1/2 an hour of Les Mills BodyPump at lunch on Monday and Wednesday and 45 minutes of Step class on Tuesday afternoon. Thursday and Friday are my recovery days, although I still take a…

That's my favorite chili recipe!! I try to follow the recipe exactly. My husband always requests it to take on his fishing weekend trips. I think this recipe has more ingredients in it than any other recipe that I use! LOL!! It's so good though!

I am so going to try that with the underarm stains on a white shirt. A friend of mine told me that these stains are produced by ingredients in your deodorant. Has anybody else heard this?

Yep... just do it! I went to a Zumba Gold class where I barely broke a sweat. I was afraid traditional Zumba would be too much for me even though I do a Step class a couple of times a week. I finally pulled the trigger one day and went on a day that a guy named Xavier was auditioning for an instructor position. He was so…

Already walked twice for 20 minutes each. After work I have a 45 minute Step class!!
-
Walked three times for 20 minutes each at a decent pace and then have Les Mills BodyCombat after work for an hour!!

Seriously, this is how I feel too. I look at the people that have lots of weight to lose and I have so much respect for them that they're willing to come and face their fears. There is a girl at my gym that lost over 100 lbs., she was in my Step class and after a few months you could just see the weight dropping off of…

Planking and Pilates. Don't laugh.

What goes around comes around, right!!!! :)

Wow, you look great! Good job! You can always hope you run into him at Kohl's with his new ginormous wife and four slobbering kids trailing along making his life miserable. You have no idea what that did to my self-esteem! LOL!!!!

I went through a Lulu phase in the past year, it got out of control. When I first started working out I bought my clothes at TJ Maxx and found Nike, Adidas, all the top brands, even some Under Armour. Well, then that got me started on the Under Armour clothing and was going to ****'s to buy that and thought it was…

I am not reading a word... I love pork and don't want that love ruined!

I'm 5' 4-1/2" tall and I'm right at 140, give or take a few pounds, and have found that I'm pretty happy with that. My BMI is around 30% which isn't great, but isn't bad either. I could probably lower both, but I like to eat so I work out like crazy and eat what I want. I fluctuate between a size 6 and 8 so I'll take it.…

http://www.quepublishing.com/store/product.aspx?isbn=0789733145 I don't run but this book is used in conjunction with a mini-marathon training series at the gym I go to so I figure it must be pretty good.

I usually eat mine back, but I'm maintaining, not trying to lose. I was eating the bare minimum while I was trying to get to this point and wasn't losing. I went to a nutritionist and she said if I can write what I eat for a week and it fits on a post-it, well, then I'm basically starving myself. So I started eating…

Pilates, either Mat or Reformer. And not just for those areas, doing Pilates strengthens your core most importantly, but you will also become tone from head to toe.
-
My husband used to turn up "Pumped up Kicks" in the truck and I would just cringe. Then I started a Core and More class on Wednesdays and the instructor plays this song every week and I love listening to it there and don't even hate it in the truck anymore!!!! In Step class we always have to do "Moves like Jagger",…

You could always just sneak things into what he considers comfort food. He probably won't even notice if you start using low fat cheese, ground turkey instead of beef and whole wheat pasta rather than white. Does he do fish? We probably have seafood two to three times a week, and I don't feel like I'm depriving myself…

I used to eat a package of Reese's Cups in the morning and another in the afternoon. And sometimes that was on top of a Whopper with Cheese and Onion Rings, not to mention breakfast, sausage link and eggs and whatever pizza or pasta for dinner. Yikes, it's no wonder I had to drop nearly 40 lbs!!!!!

I just looked at your post again and saw your weight loss goal and have this to add... a high energy Step class can burn around 500 calories in an hour. Zumba is supposed to be very effective too, but I've yet to try it and am pretty happy with my schedule so doubt that I do. The Step takes some getting used to the…

That first time is the hardest! But you can do it! I didn't know what to do when I first started so I asked one of the track personnel and they got me started on the treadmill, which is what I had requested. I got bored with that real quick, moved on to the cycle and got bored again. I had a personal training session for…

I will be doing an hour of yoga after work followed up by 45 minutes of step class.

 I know it's not funny, but I did laugh out loud on this one. Aren't they all afraid their hot wife is going to trade up? My husband won't work out either, needs to lose at least 20 lbs. but when I mentioned it he took offense. I guess I would have also 35 lbs. ago. I keep telling him that I just want him to be…

This makes me feel better too, I continually go over in protein. Now that I am using MFP instead of WeightWatchers I'm wondering just how much over I used to be on protein. WW uses that in it's calculation of points, but doesn't really break down the nutritional values like MFP does. Now I try hard to keep within range,…

My membership with WeightWatchers expires this weekend. I joined last November and lost a little over 30 pounds which was nearly 20% of my beginning body weight. I still have 5 lbs. to go to meet my goal, but like others, that's why I'm here now. I was tired of paying $40 a month and only losing a pound a week, if I didn't…

I have two pair of ASIC's and just bought a pair of Ryka's. My first ASIC's were pretty expensive, nearly full retail at the Finsih Line. I have discovered since then that if you look around you can find last year's models at drastically reduced prices. I bought my second pair of ASIC's at Famous Footwear and my Ryka's at…

I use the Skullcandy Titan's, retail around $40 but got them through Amazon for $27. I don't run, but they set so well in your ear that I cannot imagine that they would fall out. And the sound is fantastic and they're great for noise reduction. With that said, you will not hear any approaching traffic, so if outside,…
