I go over my protein level but 2gs? Does that mess with my weight loss much?

There aren't many days when I don't go over my protein levels. The truth is that MFP sets the bar REALLY low, like 10% lower than is recommended if you're exercising regularly. Their default setting is 20% of daily calories, meanwhile it is generally recommended that you get 30% of your daily calories from lean protein sources.0

Especially if you're working out, I wouldn't worry about going over by 2. MFP has protein set really low anyway. I'm almost always over on my protein and I've successfully continued to lose weight.0

Hi, I don't think so. Feel free to check my diary, I am over by much more on protein every day and am losing just fine. You can generally better go over in protein than sodium or sugar! :-) Good luck! Christy0

I'm over on my protein every day, & most times it's by much more than 2g. I haven't had a problem yet. I have noticed a lot of posts saying MFP has the protein count on the low side.0

going over protien is ok. Protien is what keeps you fuller longer. I go over most days myself.0

Cool! Thanks! I've been trying to put more calories in my total, because as of now for my daily total (i plan out my day) im only at 984 and i want to at least be at 1200, even thought my min is 1430. I had a recipe for some pasta and bean salad and it would put me over by 2 and i didnt think it was much, but just wanted to check. Thanks everyone!0

This makes me feel better too, I continually go over in protein. Now that I am using MFP instead of WeightWatchers I'm wondering just how much over I used to be on protein. WW uses that in it's calculation of points, but doesn't really break down the nutritional values like MFP does. Now I try hard to keep within range, but it is very difficult. I have given up my scrambled eggs and sausage link in the morning, had to or else I'd hit my protein limit by lunch. I do work out quite a bit, so these comments have certainly made me feel better about the amount of protein I take in. Thanks!!!0

Ohh goodness you can eat a lot of protein before it starts affecting your weight loss. Don't worry about it!!0

I would be much more concerned with going over on sodium, because excess salt causes you to retain water. And watch the calories, of course!0
