  • Can't go wrong with steak. Also holy crap those steak bite things look really good - I know what I'm making this week.

  • If you want to continue enjoying high fat foods, try a low-carb diet. Sure you have to give up grains (and things like fruit if you go super low carb), but there's nothing quite like a big steak with hollindaise and roasted broccoli soaked in olive oil and Parmesan for dinner.
  • Stop eating low-fat garbage. Fat will fill you up faster and better, and low-fat foods contain sugar to replace the fat.
  • Sorta. I don't track frequently anymore, but I do keto.
  • It's entirely possible to not eat sugar. My sugar intake is frequently 0. But then again, I abstain from fruits and milk, and eat leafy green vegetables and water instead.
  • I cheated all new years weekend. Up 7 pounds. Here's hoping it's mostly water weight, and the abdominal discomfort from carb overload goes away soon. :D
  • I'm not sure all forms of BC lend themselves equally well to skipping periods. When I was younger (17-20ish) I successfully used the pill to skip most of them without trouble. I just threw away the sugar pills. Only problem was that if I missed taking a pill or missed the time by even a few hours, it came back with a 2…
  • I started keto back in September and it's been great. There are a few people on the MFP forums who I loathe to see posting about low carb - (CENSOR) and his clone (CENSOR) for example - they seem to be the worst of the bunch. Honestly I had no medical reason to go low carb other than the possibility of some insulin…
  • I went low carb (<20g/day) and high fat (65% of my daily calories). I really like it. I feel so much better and am losing plenty of weight. The great thing about upping fat intake is that it helps fill you up faster, which in turn helps you eat less and stay in a caloric deficit. Plus coconut oil is full of lauric acid,…
  • Balance them however you want and however works for you.
  • I do all the cooking in my house, so my SO didn't have a choice but to join me on my lifestyle change. There has been some griping and grousing and whining but he's lost a lot of weight. Our food plan is pretty simple, but it took him a while to get the hang of. Fortunately he was never big on sweets, and the only thing he…
  • Why not eat more fat and fiber to get things moving again... the actually natural way?
  • An easy way to lower your sugar intake is by replacing a serving or two of your fruit intake with a serving or two of vegetables - ones like leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. I don't really eat fruit at all anymore, just vegetables, and I never worry about my sugar intake.
  • I make sure I get what I need from the food I eat. The only things I supplement are vitamin D since I don't get any sun or drink fortified milk, and I take fish oil since I don't eat fish at home and I need the omega 3s. That's it. If you're not getting enough vitamins, you should rethink your vegetable intake =3
  • Cut out carbs for those 2 days to drop the water weight quickly. That can be up to 4 pounds for most people. It IS just water weight though, so keep that in mind - but that's all you can really realistically lose in such a short amount of time.
  • I've seen before and after pics where people were 300-400+ and lost 20 pounds. Even at that weight the loss is noticeable. Sometimes it is easier to take weight loss one slow step at a time.
  • I'm on a very low carb diet and the only thing that made me feel like garbage was the two glasses of wine I had on boxing day. :D So today I'm nursing a weird hangover.
  • Fewer carbs, more protein and fat - you'll feel less hungry. I only eat once or twice a day, and even then I'm usually not too hungry.
  • If you make a steak, you can cut it into thin strips and stick it in the fridge for later - then you have little steak snacks! (bonus: make a dip to go with them: http://girlgoneprimal.blogspot.com/2010/02/recipe-dip-de-dip-de-dip.html) Or you can make Kale chips - season small kale leaves with whatever you want (oil and…
  • I get that a lot when I'm shoveling down a steak and broccoli smothered in butter. Or half a block of cheese. Or chicken alfredo. Or any of the other awesome things I eat. =3
  • Straight whiskey. Plus you'll look super classy ordering it like that.
  • Roughly more than 300g/day, depending on the person (some people can handle more just fine, some less.) But that's a LOT of protein.
  • Holy hell that is an absurd amount of protein (unless you are a weight lifter or really tall or something.) My protein and fat percentages are reversed. XD
  • I do keto, which is <20g carbs, then equal amounts of fat and protein with the ratios coming out to around 20-35% protein and 60-70% fat. After reading the science behind low carb, I'm rather anti-Dukan because of how important fat is for your body, and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone. Atkins is a good place to start…
  • No. In general, calorie deficit = wight loss. It's better to be lower on carbs and higher in fat, imo. Fat keeps you fuller for longer than carbs do, and can help keep you from overeating since you aren't quite as ravenous at your next meal.
  • That kind of sounds like something you should see a doctor about.
  • I can't believe it's not butter and fat free sour cream are not at all primal/paleo friendly. The fake butter replaces good animal fats with partially hydrogenated oils (gross) and the fat free sour cream replaces them with more sugar in the form of lactose! Real butter is the way to go. I'm not sure about sour cream on…
  • I hit a size 16 in pants and then those started getting tight and I was like nope nope nope done with that.
  • Don't do the shot. It's cons far outweigh the pros. IUDs are a good way to go, though you have the issue of insertion pain and not using tampons (if you do). I used the pill on and off for a long time and skipped the sugar pills to stop my periods anyway with success. A friend of mine uses the nuva ring and swears by it,…
  • I always weigh in daily, but I use a trending tracker like the one at the Hacker's Diet website. It gives a more accurate big picture with a nice trend line, so big spikes don't look big, and often don't prevent your line from trending down.
