I'm a running coach at my local running club on the side and have run 10 half's and 1 full marathon - congrats on your new endeavor! Speaking from experience... I do not count any of my cross training as a part of the mileage I need to run weekly... I focus on the running plan as prescribed - which is designed to prevent…

I have PCOS and I aim to eat a balanced diet...lots of water... and exercise. I've lost 42 pounds with MFP since August 2011 following this - it's not about less carbs, high protein for me... it's about exercise and a well rounded diet from all sources. It's not about a diet, it's a lifestyle. I notice if I do have "junk"…

Your journey is an amazing one... I struggle with PCOS as well... and it is something we can live with while making healthy lifestyle adjustments using MFP to our advantage. Thank you for sharing your struggles and successes.

Whatever you do, practice now with it and not on race day...never do anything differently on race day than you would on a training run. My favorite is peanut butter gu - I take one every 45 minutes, and my second choice is the cherry blossom honey stinger chews - I eat 3 pieces every 45 minutes. Typically in my hydration…

My go to drink at Starbucks is a Grande Nonfat 2 spenda sugar free vanilla misto... it's only 70 calories! On a hot day I love the Grande Tazo Shaken Iced Passion Tea - which is 80 calories... ...and when I'm really wanting a treat... I get a grande 2 splenda Skinny Caramel Macchiato, which is only 140 calories. The only…

I'm a runner. But, I have a treadmill at home that I use during inclement weather...just your average run of the mill treadmill that I bought at Costco - works great - had it over a year now. During the extreme heat - it gets used a lot. When the weather is not as hot, I lace up my shoes and run outdoors!

When I started out, I was very very slow... I was a walker... 19 min/mile... then I joined C25k.... then a slow run/walk group and completed my first half marathon doing 1:1 running ratio intervals the entire way... two years later - I still run intervals...but I can now complete a half in 3 hours instead of 3:40....and…

I know a lot of people do X and Y fad diet...but, for me.. it's not realistic. Bottom line, I eat what I want and stay under my calorie needs... because it keeps me honest... it's about life. Some days I may have some really clean eating... and other days I might eat Doritos and cake. For me it's calories in = calories…

Well said! I keep my profile set to sedentary...but, I wear a fitbit and capture everything. If a chore or two get calculated within fitbit, so be it...but, I also only eat back about half of what fitbit calculates...and I've had great success so far. If people want to log housework - so be it... to each his own to use…
