Yes to the suggestions to bake them in the oven. It sounds really strange, but I did this and they came out PERFECTLY. I don't know why it seems easier than boiling them because it takes about the same amount of time. But taking the need to boil the water and such took out some of the complexity for me. I don't…

I typically eat at a deficit 6 days a week. Saturday night is date night -- nice meal out followed by a couple (or 3 or 4 glasses) of wine and (inevitably thanks to the alcohol) snacks at night. I do try to plan the day ahead of time -- eat somewhat sensibly leading up to dinner, maybe fit in some extra exercise. And even…

Those were so challenging last week. I'm up on my toes long before my curl is complete. Hard to keep the same pace.
-
I'm the same way. I think I can do a more effective calf raise keeping my legs closer together.

A 15% cut according to scooby is nearly the same number as 20% according to her BMF based on the numbers she gave.

Glad you mentioned this. I'll keep it in mind for next week. I decided to take the rest of this week off anyway as a diet/exercise break, so I'll restart on Monday. I'm thinking I may drop the weights on Lean1 a bit this week so that I don't have a repeat of this week with the deltoid soreness or just aim for 6-8 reps…

I'm no expert, but I think in general 40/30/30 carb/protein/fat macros is what is pretty good to aim for, but I rarely hit that. Mine ends up being more of a 50/25/25 split in reality. If you can do one of the body fat calculators on the fat2fit site, it will estimate how much lean body mass you currently have. That's…

I had the same problem. In my opinion, it's way better to ease up on the weights to give your back a break than to try to push through. I also found that even on the lower body exercises where my legs could stand more weight, my arms and shoulders would fatigue just holding them. So you have to modify to accomodate what…

^^^^^^^^^ This is for real! I've not lost much on the scale at all, but inches most definitely. Also lost several ticks off the BeachBody calipers that came with my set, although I don't put a lot of stock in the body fat number they say it translates to. But still, it's another way to measure progress.

I did Lean 1 on Monday and had to do the same -- knees and lower weights. And I *did* have a hard time lifting things the next day. To do so much bicep work, my front deltoids were killing me (the pushups I guess....). I went on and did Burn Intervals on Tuesday but had to take a full rest day last night because it still…

I'm currently doing my diet break, too. Can't speak to the puffier feel yet, but I'm wondering how you're approaching it? Are you doing it like a vacation and not trying to log everything in order to get to a certain number, or are you still trying to log in order to get up to TDEE? I'm currently logging and trying to get…

I started Lean last night. Wow, that was challenging! My poor biceps were so tired. My goal was 10 reps on most of them. By the time I got to the supine tricep extensions, I picked up a 15lb weight and my arms were shaking so bad it was possibly a safety hazard. The muscles weren't burning but they were so fatigued. Put…

Yeah, I'm not sure how they do slower on some of those. Some of them I still end up finished before them but am pretty sure any slower would have me stopping altogether.
-
I agree. I mean, the numbers on my weights are not sexy or anything, but it's all I can do to get through 8 reps of 15 lb on shoulder presses with good form. Any heavier right now and I'd risk damaging something, I'm certain. But I have tried to consciously increase the weights as the program has gone on rather than…

 Well, i guess I was influenced by another thread I read last week defining what "lifting heavy" actually is, and they didn't sound the same to me. BUT that's not to say you don't get results from similar kinds of strength programs, in my opinion. And it may be a case of splitting some hairs because the weights I've…

That's OK! You've done it before which means your poor arms were all tuckered out this time. As I recall that Burn 2 was a tough circuit. I believe I cried at the end of doing it the first time because I was so exhausted by the end!

Turbinado sugar and half-and-half and cinnamon. I don't like much of anything that is sugar free or fat free. But I've learned to do with less sugar than two years ago -- 1.5 tsp to 8 oz, and we like our coffee strong and dark. I find that adding a sprinkle of cinnamon helps to cut the bitterness of the coffee without…

If you're happy doing the P90x workouts, then keep doing those. i personally don't think there's a need to join a gym right now unless you just really, really want to. I'm doing Chalean Extreme, which I understand is not "lifting heavy", but after 8 weeks I've lost 5" overall and 5% BF according to their dinky little…

Finished 8 weeks of CLX on Saturday. Measurements this morning show a net scale loss of 1.4 pounds (I actually think it's 2.4 lbs but the scale jumped up a pound 2 days ago and stayed there). But the better loss is 5" overall and 5.4% loss in body fat according to the dinky BeachBody calipers that came with the set. I'm…

I definitely didn't have a big Bradley baby. She was born 3 1/2 weeks early and weighed in at 4 lb 14 oz! I let Bradley (my coach and fellow class members anyway) suck every bit of common sense out of me. They had me so wary of hospitals and doctors that I let myself go into labor after a bad stomach virus when looking…

Let me just say that I'm so glad there are no hidden cameras in my room. I tried 10 minutes of Fat Blaster last night and stopped. I don't have the coordination for it, and clearly there are some cues that they must have learned from other TJ workouts that are NOT included in this one. And Chalean is far too perky. So,…

Anyone looking for EM2WL friends can add me, also!

If you're hungry, EAT! Even at the deficit, if you're hungry, eat. Particularly if you can tell that it's not just an "I'm bored" kind of hunger. When I first started back exercising this year, I was ravenously hungry in the first couple of weeks. That has tapered off a good bit. Your numbers are similar to mine. I'm 5'3"…

I suspect us normal folks are not in danger of eating too much protein. I remember when I took Bradley classes during my first pregnancy we were encouraged to get 75g of protein each day and that sounded like SO much but I did it faithfully. My MFP goal says 133g and I never quite make it. But I figure a day of…

I'm doing CLX right now. Did 6 weeks of P90X last year and think I'll hybridize it with CLX when this first round is over. Or I may try a Lean for Life month and see how I like that first.

I suspect Shakeology is a great project, but I find it to be too expensive. Maybe if I had a $4/day latte habit that could be easily swapped for Shakeology instead, I would do that. And maybe if I wasn't a breakfast eater then a meal replacement shake would make more sense. But my husband did almost two full rounds of P90X…

I almost wish I hadn't read this thread! I'm in week 3 of Push. Are you guys using the same weight levels that you used for Push? How many reps does she encourage in Lean? 6-8 or 10-12?

I liked it the first two times because it was different from anything I'd done before and I understand the value of it, but I came to dislike it for a number of reasons. One, the length was killer. Two, the repetition was really boring. Three, some of the moves seemed dangerous to attempt to do without coaching by an…

I would gauge it based on what you achieved with CLX. I did P90x last spring (well, 6 weeks of it....I got frustrated with aspects of it but wish I had pushed through or given myself permission to skip some parts and shorten the workouts). We own up to 30 lbs hand weights. I used mostly 8 and 10 pounds during P90x because…

I'm 5'3", 36yo, 160 lbs. Based off my BMF 4-week report, I consumed 1770 calories on average and burned 2185 each day. This past week (week 1 of Push) I averaged 1940 calories intake and 2250 calories burned. I'm trying to keep my deficit between 300-400 calories on average meaning it will be slow loss but hopefully more…
