It depends on what your TDEE is. My BMF is right on with the Scooby calculator for moderately active (3-5 hrs exercise/week). Generally 15-20% lower than TDEE is the sweet spot for losing. Some of us have figured out for sure what our sweet spot is; others of us (like me!) are still figuring out how to get the right…

According to my BMF, I burn between 150 and 175 calories for the strength days. There's a margin of error there since no device -- HRM or otherwise -- will be entirely accurate with lifting exercises. But those burns seem to be similar to what I see other MFP pals logging for CLX.
-
That I don't know. I gather there are nuances that make the lifting in this program different from other programs that some on MFP would sanction as true lifting programs (which actually gets us back to the original question as to whether this is considered lifting or circuit ) All I know is that I related exactly…

I do CLX, also, and she definitely incorporates both isolation and compound exactly the way you described it, often within the same workout. I find there is usually a 1 minute or so break from the time I finish a set of exercises and pick up weights to start the next one. The only time there is less than that is when she…

I tried 8 lbs on the flies in Burn 1 last night and my form was so poor that I feel like I lied saying I did 10-12 reps. Nearly every other exercise showed an increase in weights from when I first went through Burn the first time. It's going to be tough increasing those because it's a big jump from 5 to 8 lbs. I…

Body Fat % was hard to tell because I measured only by the included calipers at the beginning, and since you only do one spot, I question their accuracy. That measurement fell by 5% but I seriously doubt it was that much. At least the caliper measurement did decrease. I'll switch to the online calculators that work off…

I had to Google this one. Apparently, it is because one is leaning forward a bit and one is standing straight up. I personally hate the ones leaning forward. I'm so much weaker on those. I had forgotten how many posterior flies are in Burn 1 until I redid it last night. Holy smoke! I can still only do 5 lbs on those and…

I see a lot of definition in your upper back! And that's not a place that can really be measured. It's a good reminder that noticeable change can still happen even if it may not show on the measuring tape, either.

I finished CLX this past weekend and I didn't actually see the scale decrease much at all. I've bounced between the same two pounds the entire time. However, I did have inches come off in the first two months. None this third month -- at least not where I was measuring. That being said, my slacks have felt looser in the…

Sure -- or just proceed from where you've left off. I'm not so certain there's any magic to the way CLX is structured except to inject variety into the workouts.

I very much get where you are coming from. I have not done JMBR, but I did do 30DS and while I motivated myself to complete the 30 days, I have not since enjoyed doing it again. I've tried and I just don't connect with the whole experience and I do believe her personality has a lot to do with it. I've even tried it on…

I would think you could modify it. You just may have to cut out any squats or lunges that she has you do, and skip the two cardio sessions. But you probably could do the upper body exercises. It's better than doing nothing.

If you can get your hands on it, you might like some of the exercises in Ab Ribber X from the P90X series. I could never do ALL of exercises or do a full 25 of each. But it's less crunch-y than Ab Burner. Some take a crazy amount of core strength to pull off, so just skip what you can't do or just do a few and then that's…

You know, this thread made me really nervous, too, but honestly while Lean IS tough and challenging, it is far from impossible! I've been able to do everything in some form. Some of the plank/push ups I can do on my toes; others I have to do on my knees. But it's totally something you'll be able to do by the time you get…

I did the same thing during Burn. I've not had near the trouble since completing Push and most of Lean. I think if I were to make any suggestion to someone starting Burn it's to pay attention to your body. You have time to build up your strength, but if you're coming into it new and don't have much strength or stability,…

Wow, that Lean Circuit 1 is rough! It was my 5th time doing it and it's still super challenging! During those bicep/lunge moves, my heart just pounds. I am breathing through but it's not very good controlled breathing. I feel like it's all I can do to move my arms and my legs and stay upright -- breathing too is just one…

Me too!! Good one!

I'm in Lean circuit now and since I do Burn Intervals the day after Lean 1 I've found I have to drop from 5's down to 3's on some of those because my muscles are still tired from the night before. I hate those Sumo Burpees. I just try to do 10 while they do their 20. I started off only being able to do 3 or 4.

You can make the program last as long as you want to! 90 days is just marketing. I'm in my third week of Lean and am planning to give Lean for Life a go for a month and see how I like doing that (I suspect I'll love it). I also found a CLX/P90X hybrid online that sounds intriguing.

I'm on the EM2WL bandwagon and I'm starting my 3rd week of Lean tonight. My goal is to eat between 1800-1900 calories most days. I tend to go over on the weekend. My average TDEE usually comes out to 2100-2200. It's not a large deficit and I'm not seeing scale numbers drop (about 2 lbs lower since starting), but I have…

It just occurred to me that I have always walked on my toes naturally -- so whenever I'm without shoes, I'm already working my calves. Of course, I'm not generally carrying dumbbells in my hand at the same time.

I do move around when I'm standing. It's not like I'm standing still at a register or workstation. But it does seem to accurately distinguish from my sedentary times from my moving times. And not all movement registers in the "orange" moderate level on the graph. But I very rarely see a spike when there wasn't…

I like and don't like mine. I don't like that it's so big and I feel dorky wearing it around in short sleeves. I wish they'd make bands and skins in skintone colors or something so it's not just so obvious. When people ask, I tell them it's my activity tracker so that I have an idea of how much to eat each day. But I…

I don't think it's necessary to start over. I'm 9 weeks in myself, and I think the most important part of CLX is the strength-training. I've missed the Burn It Off/Recharge cardio session for three weeks for various reasons -- not least of which is just that I don't like it very much! I prefer the Burn Intervals. But, at…

If I have room at the end of the day, I toast a piece of high quality whole grain bread, spread a tablespoon of natural PB on it, and drizzle with honey. For some reason, toasting the bread makes it taste so much better.
-
I have the hardest time keeping Burn It Off/Recharge in my week. I skipped it for the third or fourth week last night. I don't mind Burn Intervals, but for some reason I don't like the other even as short as it is.

Yes, I found that when I started incorporating even just small snacks into the morning or afternoon, my body started asking for them. So, it's not like you need to gorge yourself on food. Just add little bits here and there or add in a protein shake after a workout. Fiber is an issue for me; something I've been…

I agree. The rhyhm or concept of the Lean workouts feels strange to me. It feels really weird to be constantly using one or two muscles over and over again with so little variation. And the compound moves of Lean feel kinda random. Almost like "Oh, you know what we've never worked in before? Hamstring curls! So let's do…

I did Lean 2 for the first time last night, and YES! I have had to lower the weights significantly from Push, particularly if I have any chance of focusing on moving my legs at the same time. I was down to 5 lbs on some shoulder exercises last night because my form would have suffered more than it already does. Even…

Yeah, just do it, for tomorrow will (probably) be different.
