I just had a read on some journal articles and they talk about exercise affecting iron stores. I know if you're low in iron then you can feel cold more. Google "iron stores and exercise" (the journals I am looking at are not publicly viewable) and have a read around and see what you think Hope that helps...

Although this a very healthy meal, could it be that there's not quite enough carbs in it? Just a suggestion. I know the brown rice has carbs, but they are simple carbs (or High GI), which means they burn through your body quickly. You might try Bismati Rice, and maybe a little more of it? or try hokkien noodles instead of…

I understand what you're saying and I totally agree and I put on another post about the translation of studies into the general media. However....statistically insigificant doesnt mean it was a failure; it is a purely statistical term and is mathematically based. Dont forget that even medical studies usually have a very…

Therapy can be great and very effective. Eating disorders are tricky ones because they are not usually the surface problem they seem to be. Therapists come from all different treatment backgrounds - you need to shop around until you find someone you click with. Dont think they are all the same, they are only people after…

I am not underweight at all and I struggle to get to 1200 as well. When I changed what I ate (as in no junk food and all fresh food) I have found it really difficult. I eat lots of fruit, snack on lots of veggies throughout the day as well as lunch and dinner. We eat wraps alot (tortilla with either fish, breast chicken,…

So many times I have gone to recommend the teeth brushing and thought I was too strange - only to find there are other strange people here too!

Which one? [/quote] The one about if you display anorexic or bulimic traits on the odd occasion it is still a disorder. There is no such thing as being anorexic on the odd occasion, and you will certainly NOT be diagnosed with an eating disorder if you tell a clinician this. To diagnose ANY kind of disorder there are…

I agree totally although....... the problem is that lots of the "reputable" information is NOT properly translated from research studies that are done. If you can get to the core of the research (which is not generally publicly available unless you pay for a subscription to a medical etc journal) then you are not getting…

One of the answers to those questions was wrong.

My sister had to try about 6 different birth control pills until she found one that suited her. The "normal" range of hormone levels is HUGE, so really, try different ones until you find one that suits. I dont have any problem with mine, and the pill relieves PMS, cramping, you get really light flow and you can take it…

Hi Ainsley, It is definitely not impossible, but it is much harder. Now that isnt meant to discourage you, its to make you realise that if you are doing all that you can, DONT be hard on yourself, be patient. It is really difficult for people who need to take medication, especially as most GP's dont acknowledge the amount…

Sorry to hear you weren't well. I have been sick also and I have found it frustrating not being well enough to go to the gym. If you work out for the next few days, you may find that that little bit you put on comes off really quick (like it hasnt actually settled on your body yet). I find the same in the reverse also, I…

Thank you very much. We are very excited!! :flowerforyou:

I hate to say this because it sounds simplistic, but its true. (And this is what you would say to someone if they were quitting smoking or anything else....(and yes I have quit smoking) Just dont eat it. You are the only one putting the food in your mouth. Just dont. (I know I am going to get some flack for this one -…

I agree completely. Now that I have changed the things I eat, I struggle to get to my 1200. This site helps me make sure that I get to the 1200 and insteading of avoiding the things that I thought I couldnt eat, I can slot them in if I want to. I was doing really well too, but in the last two weeks I have had two different…

 I quit smoking 2 and a half years ago, and there seems to be another reason as well as the extra snacking that puts on weight, that if you're aware of, you may be able to avoid. Because cigarettes are a stimulant, when you quit, the whole digestive systems seems to almost stop. You may have to really up your fibre…

HisAngel: - I dont know how to start a new post, so I hope you see this one! I did alot of research and self experimentation into this starvation mode and decided to push to eat more (definitely over 1000 calories per day, but still rarely to 1200) and I have started to lose it again! I have lost 6.5lbs in about 3 weeks -…

Thank you for that article!! I was wondering whether I need to up my exercise to help me break through this plateu - and yes i do!

Hello NY Bachelor - I have read this link in the past also, (and its very good). What I am wondering is if along grapevines, numbers and words have been altered and misused (eg. "I have the flu", when it is just actually a cold), and then they are reiterated until it is common concept. ??? "hisangel" i am interested in…

I am in Perth, Australia.

I absolutely agree with everything you are all saying. I talked to my mum about the "old fashioned way" of losing weight and although she said the same about calories (although back then it was a minimum of 1000 calories a day) she had never heard of adding what you do in exercise to your calorie intake. I eat a really…

A leaflet that my trainer gave me a the gym said that if you do three light exercise sessions per week, then you should have 1 gram per 1kg (2.2lbs) of your bodyweight. eg if you weigh 50kg then have 50gm of protein per day. If you do more exercise then eat more protein or vice versa The leaflet also says that if you have…

Hi! I'm in Perth, where are you? Well apart from my wraps suggestion (which is my staple), I also love Bulla light ice creams, they are on a stick, so you are only having that portion size, and they are the perfect size to make you enjoy them! Nestle diet yoghurt is yummy too (yellow tub), but if you really want a treat,…

Sorry sorry! I meant 20g of chicken or beef, not 100g! I dont have the soda problem though. My partner drinks Pepsi but the ones with sugar are too sweet for me generally. My weakness is Pepsi Max!

Thanks for that - i have tried and tried to get to 1200 calories and I just cant. I eat very healthy and the things i eat seem to fill me up and keep me that way! I tried having a snack between lunch and dinner, and then I just couldnt eat dinner at all. I average 850-950 calories per day(that doesnt take into account…

Ok, well the thing that I eat most of my lunches and dinners is wraps. My partner makes them for me (i'l so lucky) and because we have such variety, we never get tired of them. I tried to find the lowest cal (and everything) wraps, and we have either a piece of crumbed fish (store bought in a box), ham or chicken or beef…

just because there are other people here worse of than you doesnt make your feeling like crap any less valid! Rest rest rest, as hard as it is, you know pushing it will just make you sick longer. Hope you feel better soon :)
