Just seeing this now, sorry. Things have changed slightly since my original posts. Yes, I joined that team, competed 3 times in 2012, 2 times in 2013. I was very happy with the coach I was assigned, but there were a few others things that weren't so great about the team as a whole. At the beginning of this year, the team…

I second Stakkedcouture.com. Ordered my first suit from there, fit perfectly!

It's hard to make that call without seeing you, but I'm 5'10" and compete in figure at about 135 (though I need to add muscle and am probably better suited for bikini right now.) So, in terms of dropping weight, 8 weeks probably isn't unrealistic at this point for bikini, but we'd have to see your body composition first.…

Same user name as here: KikiD22 I post a lot of fitness, motivation pics as well as just everyday stuff.

Haven't forgotten about you guys! Still waiting on my edited photos from the photographer. I'm just having what is supposed to be minor retouching done. I have a lot of excess skin from my weight loss, and it definitely shows in the proofs. So, it's supposed to just be fixing lighting, stray hairs, and smoothing things,…

Can I ask what organization you plan to compete in? Different organizations reward slightly different looks, but if you are competing NPC, I would stick with bikini. They have been rewarding a leaner, more athletic look in bikini, and I think you're right in that your legs will work against you in figure (coming from…

That's just like the guy at my gym that works out, daily, in a polo shirt and khaki cargo shorts. I just see him and go, "Huh?" I do give him credit for being there as often as I am, which is 6 days a week.

No offense taken. I did have a tummy tuck, but it was after I lost the weight that I did. The overhang you see in the skin is because there were complications with healing. It was just to remove the excess skin that no amount of exercise or diet will ever get rid of, but I had tight abs underneath. (Actually OB/GYN said my…

Posting for two reasons... One, to follow and read more later. Two, I'll be the brave soul to post before/after Photoshop photos. I had a photo shoot back at the beginning of May. I'll pull the un-retouched photos that I selected, and I'll post the side-by-side of the finished product. I've been told by the photographer…

Not at all impossible. Look at the pictures on my profile. I'm 35 years old and have an 8-year-old daughter. Nothing is impossible.

Just prior to my last show, I did a photo shoot (show on Saturday, shoot on Tuesday). I didn't dehydrate for my shoot, but I don't dehydrate to the extreme of some because I end up looking depleted at my show. It's something I've struggled with at every show. As far as oil goes, I know for my shoot they used some sort of…

Your diary is locked, so it's really hard to offer any good advice on what changes to make or what could be affecting the minimal weight loss without seeing that.

Feel free to add me. 5'9 1/2" ish here. Started at 240 lbs back in 2002, dropped 80 pounds then. Started 2012 at 165. Decided to go back to my goal of being a figure athlete (fitness competitor). Currently 135 (3 days out from a show). Maintain at about 145.

Trying very hard to get there this year. I've done SDCC for the past 3 years, and do all the local Chicago cons each year, but I'd really like to get to Dragoncon at least once and experience that.

Okay, two things... I agree, 1200, for most people, is very low. I'm at that number now but I'm two weeks out from a figure (bodybuilding) competition. However, for general weight loss, that is too aggressive for most people. I only stay at that number for brief periods of time in conpetition prep. However, take a peek at…

I take a greens supplement daily, mostly because I have a relatively restrictive diet with being a figure competitor. That being said, I can't see why taking it wouldn't be beneficial to anyone. The flip side, I checked out the "Athletic Greens" website, and the pricing is a rip-off. I take the Maximum Greens in tablet…

What show are you doing on the 27th? I'm going to watch the NPC Fox Cities Championship in WI.

So the results are in.... I placed 2nd in both my categories this weekend. Jr Masters everyone says I was robbed, 2nd out of 2. In the open tall class, I was 2nd out of 4. I did feel that my posing was stronger in the open class, which makes sense on the placements. I'm happy with the outcome though. I have to add more…

Exactly! I get up at 4am on workdays, 6am on Saturday to get my workouts in. I am a single mom, work full time, have a daughter involved in competitive cheer, and I still manage to get all my workouts in and compete as a figure athlete. People who say they "don't have time" are my #1 pet peeve!

LOL!! Just saw Staci's Facebook post. You joined my team!!!

I am!! Competing this weekend at ABA Natural North America at Hinsdale South H.S. You should definitely come out and watch a show.
-
Welcome to the group! I'm a figure competitor as well. Competed three times last year. I have 3 more shows this spring, starting with my first one of the year this Saturday. If you have questions, let me know, but I primarily work with a coach/training team.

The cost for coaches can vary. I know that mine costs approx. $100/month when I factor in posing sessions and extras too. That's for complete coaching, diet, workouts, etc. As far as the suits go, competition bikinis are normally custom made to your measurements. A few suit designers that I recommend are: Vizion Wear Suits…

Bikini to physique is a big jump... Do you mean bikini or figure? Based on your photos, I'd say bikini, because I do not think that you currently have the muscle mass to be competitive in either figure or physique. Not meant to be an insult, I was in the same boat when I started and am still on the small side for figure.…

Just added you as a friend. Take a look at my diary for the past few days. That's what the last 10 weeks have looked like in preparation for my figure show on April 6. That's the typical diet you're going to be looking at to get competition lean. My diet will stay like that through this Saturday, and then I switch to my…

I do exactly that. I tend to retain water just before and am my leanest just after my period. I'm on Nuvaring, and I will manipulate my cycle to make sure that I have my period just before my show.

@cdenise89, the puppy one!!

Ahh... ACen. Yup, been there, done that. A little too much jailbait walking around for my tastes. Been to C2E2?

Quite possibly the best .gif ever!!

Umm, where do I begin? LOL -Avid Syfy watcher, though my drug of choice is "Lost Girl." It's my guilty pleasure. Also (non-Syfy) a huge Game of Thrones and True Blood fan. -Costumer, go to all the local (and beyond) fan conventions in full costume, that I make myself. My list includes: Firestar, Power Girl, Blind Mag, Six…
