  • Yeah, I think I'd be more worried about the lack of potty breaks than anything else!! lol I know I get half my daily steps in at work just walking back and forth to the ladies room when eating Keto, so I can't imagine only a couple of breaks over a 12 hour period for THAT. ;-) I hope you have a wonderful time! It's always…
  • Hey, Carly...just want to throw something in here. I believe that sometimes we overthink these kinds of events/special occasions/whatever out of fear. We're feeling good, have had success, and are terrified of screwing it up...but I really don't believe there's as much to worry about as we might think. I took a look at…
  • Love it. THIS should be on our T-Shirt slogan thread... ;-)
  • <snort> cow-orkers That's where I unload my carbage, too...it's omnipresent at my workplace. Exactly what I did with the Girl Scout cookies I just had to buy from the little cuties outside the grocery store the other day. ;-)
  • Total...if I have a high fiber day, bonus. If I slightly exceed my total carb goal but I have good fiber numbers, I don't sweat it as much. Still, I try to keep total carbs under or very near my carb goal the majority of the time.
  • Curious whether we could duplicate the taste of rye bread by adding caraway seeds to a muffin-in-a-minute recipe? Thoughts? I've decided I don't particularly care for corned beef all by it's lonesome (even w/ cabbage), but a low carb reuben might be tasty. Thousand Island dressing could be low-carbed up w/ SF ketchup,…
  • Me thinks someone needs more fat... ;-)
  • Sounds good to me! Slice up a few chunks of hot Italian sausage, throw in some garlic, and garnish w/ some Parmesan and I'll be over for dinner... :-)
  • That was really cool. Thanks for sharing!
  • "God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it's me." (Always liked this version better, and so appropriate when referring to the "litterbox.")
  • Alright, hustle on over here and mop up the spewed energy drink from my monitor before my IT person sees it... ;-)
  • Not alot of scale movement, and I haven't dropped another whole pants size YET, but I'm down to the snuggest hooks on all of my bras and starting to dig out the ones I haven't been able to wear in a while. Back-fat is gettin' GONE!! lol Time for new measurements...
  • I had to make a stockpile of ice packs for icing my foot after surgery, and found that they work really great as lunch box coolers as well: Ziploc bags (quart and gallon) Rubbing Alcohol Water Basic recipe is 3 parts water to 1 part rubbing alcohol (more alcohol for squishier pack). 2 1/2 cups water to 1/2 cup alcohol…
  • When this happens to me I just use straight up coconut oil as a lip remedy. Spoon a bit into a small container (an empty chapstick container or a small Altoids tin works) and use your finger to apply as often as needed.

  • Alot of good info to be found here: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10039052/please-do-not-open-for-now-lp01 Not all keto specific, but a wealth of low carb info. Check out the LCHF section. To get started on setting your macros, check here: http://www.ruled.me/keto-calculator/ and to check that your meals…
  • Good job on the protein! Keep trying for your minimum and I think you'll continue feeling much better. :-)
  • Not many people really are, and unfortunately we trust too much sometimes. This is just one more case in point. :-) If it sounds too good, don't believe it without doing your own due diligence and remember: WE are our own best advocates when it comes to health and how we fuel.
  • Do the math on these counts. 50 calories, 45 coming from fat. That leaves 5 unaccounted for calories...there's your carb. The Land 'o Lakes is especially misleading, claiming 50 calories from fat, however when you look at the fat grams (5) and do the math (5 grams fat x 9 calories per gram = 45 calories) it is also…
  • Protein. A bit more, perhaps? I did a Fat Fast this week and had the same problem on days 2 & 3...wasn't getting nearly enough protein for what I'm used to having. Did okay with moving the scale, but not worth the completely overwhelming fatigue I felt those two days. Try to eat closer to your carb & protein goals daily,…
  • Amazing, Ryan. Congratulations!! Keep on keepin' on and keep us posted on how the workouts progress. I'm recovering from foot surgery at the moment and am SO looking forward to some pain free workouts myself.
  • Sheila was a regular on the old Atkins boards on AOL back when I first started low carbing (late 90s, early 2000s). I remember when she started compiling her recipe books! Glad to hear that she's had such success in maintenance.
  • Well I have to tell you, with this Fat Fast thing I did this week? Getting my fat % in was definitely the hardest thing for me to do. Every day I was sitting crunching and shifting foods and macros around to try and get as close to the recommended 90% for the FF as I could, and I STILL didn't make it except for one day…

  • Danger, Will Robinson! Catastrophizing and the anxiety it produces will raise cortisol levels and negatively impact your attempts at weight loss. Talk yourself out of that tree you're in right now. From what you've said, there is absolutely nothing else that would point to anything tragic and scary. See the doctor to…
  • Food manufacturers can technically round down in their counts, so it's unlikely that there is REALLY a heavy cream that has no carbs. I always count one per TBSP, just to be safe.
  • I wonder the same thing sometimes. I started w/ low carb on old school Atkins as well and dropped 20+ pounds the first month. Not losing so quickly this time. Besides age, I think that maybe one reason for slower losses is that a good part of the initial "magic" that happens is just because our bodies are caught by…
  • Please DO let us know how this thing tastes. When I saw the ads on tv I almost bought stock in Jack in the Box knowing it would probably be a HUGE hit w/ keto/lowcarbers. ;-) Couldn't find nutrition facts for the "gourmet bun" online, but did find their customer service number: Guest Relations @ 1-858-522-4716
  • Having been a delivery driver/supervisor waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy back in the day, I remember that job being anything but sedentary. I'd even go so far as saying it qualifies for active, if you worked more than 3 days per week. I think you're good w/ lightly active, based on what you listed above, though. Best bet? Get…
  • Amazon sells magnesium citrate (more readily absorb-able) in bulk as a powder. This can be stirred into a beverage to consume, or I hear that you can buy empty gelatin capsules to fill and make your own supps. At least you know what you're getting that way.
  • It is kinda gnarly looking right out of the can, I'll give ya that. ;-) But fried up? Oh yeah. And it would be delish on flax bread, but is just as good in an iceberg lettuce wrap.
  • Goat: Cue your recent optimal bloodwork results...more supporting evidence. ;-)
