Add your food before you eat it. It lets you know the calorie etc info and you can make adjustments if need be before you actually eat. It is the only way I can stay on track.

Certain antidepressants for sure. I have also read that high blood pressure medications cause weight gain. A wonderful place to check your particular medications is webmd. It gives detailed information about a drug and is very helpful to me.

I agree with the poster that said you can choose your friends but not your family. You can also choose not to share things with your family or simply not be around them any more than you have to. Those were horrible things for your mother and grandmother to say and I am sure it hurt you very much. Try to put it out of your…

I didn't lose the first week but once I lost the first pound the second week so far so good. I started Sept 1. I don't have any trouble eating my calories (haha) so that may be some of your problem. If you simply are not hungry, you can bump up your calories with something like peanut butter. It doesn't take much to add a…

I know the deed has to be done for me to get chicken at the grocery store. However, if they were in my back yard I would turn them into pets and never be able to do the deed. They would just have to die of old age. HaHa

If you do go that route, stay in close contact with your doctor and keep your blood pressure checked. I would suggest looking up the drug up on webmd. That site gives good info about possible side effects, what to watch for and so on. Some people can take it with no problems and others can not. Even if you do take it, I…

My mother use to say that she always wondered why some children did the things they did. She went on to say after having the job of managing 100 adults, she then knew. The point is, some adults never mature and still have childish behavior. Sounds like some of the stories here.

My neurologist told me to cut way back on the caffeine because it is a diuretic and leaves you dehydrated. I did give up my diet cokes but will never give up my coffee! I started drinking water instead of diet cokes. I guess you can try the product a couple of weeks and see if it helps but if you are new to caffeine, you…

Hi, I have dieted since I was 12 years old which was 40 years ago. With MFP, this is the first time I actually know what I am doing. Love this site. It is working for me and I still get to eat real food which makes it easier to stay on track. Good Luck!

You go girl! If the truth were known, bet your so called friend was disappointed that you didn't cry and get all upset. Good for you! Wait until you knock off another 10 pounds. I bet she tries it again so be ready to disappoint her again! Sounds like sour grapes to me.

A near death experience for yourself or someone you care about does change your out look on life. It can be negative or positive. Sounds like you have gone the positive route. I understand exactly what you are saying as I have had a near death experience that involved seeing the light and dead relatives! Since that event,…

Tomorrow is a new day. Forgive yourself and move on. As far as not being so tempted, that is a tuff one when you work in such an environment. The suggestion of not carrying the means to buy is a good one. Try taking snacks to work with you and have one with you when you are in these areas. The strawberry Special K bar is…

This site is amazing. I have dieted since I was 12 years old. I am now past 50 and by using this site, it is the first time in my life that I actually know what I am doing. It really doesn't feel like a diet - just a life style change. I follow to the tee and have had good results. I could not be happier. You are…

I have always heard that any kind of "spirits" does have a lot of empty calories. Fortunately, I don't have have to worry about this because I simply have never been able to develop a taste for beer or alchohol. Too bad the same is not true for chocolate and ice cream!

Hi, I know how you feel. I had some serious medical conditions and have popped on 40 pounds. I tried everything and nothing worked. Then, someone put me on this site and I am so pleased with the way it is going. I started Sept 1 with a goal of 1 pound per week. I weighed today and I have lost 5 pounds so now I only have 35…

When you track your food and add back your exercise, MFP automatically computes carbs, fats, calories, protein ect. I enter my foods before I eat them so I know what the damage is. It keeps me from going over. As for eating back your exercise calories, some people do, some don't and some partial until they find what works…

Based on my experience so far, if you follow what MyFitnessPal lays out for you, you will lose weight. It will also caution you when you are eating too few calories which may put your body in starvation mode which messes up your metabolism and you either don't lose or may gain.

I just gave in and bought a food scale that weighs in grams. It cost about 10 dollars. Problem is, I didn't realize it doesn't weigh in ounces also. Now I have to divide the total grams by 28 to get the ounces. I may splurge and get a scale that does both.

Hi Tracy, You are definitely on the right track with MFP. Having dieted off and on since I was 12 years old, this is the first time I actually know what I am doing and it really doesn't feel like a diet, more of a lifestyle change. You can still eat a little bit of what you like and not feel so restricted. If you follow…

Planning ahead Following MFP to a tee Seeing the number I will weigh in the future if I stick to it!
-
For me, following MFP to a t works better without outside interferences. I am sure you have entered weight, height and activity level and seen what MFP reccomends calorie wise plus adding your calories back in from exercise. You may not be eating enough. I have a thyroid problem which is part of why I gained 40 pounds.…

Banana Smoothie - I freeze my bananas in the skin or out depending on my time when I purchase. I cup of milk your choice, 1 frozen banana cut in chunks and 4 pecan halves - all in blender and push smoothie button. It is sweet enough for me but you can add sweetner if so desired. If you don't want all the banana calories,…

If I have a day that I am really hungry, I fix 2 large scrambled eggs with Pam cooking spray, add 4 slices of Oscar Meyer 97% fat free ham and two pieces of toasted Merita bread. Believe it or not, the calories are not that bad and it fills me up for a long time. You can get the exact calories here on this site but seems…

The last thing you want to do is PO a bunch of ladies in an office especially over 50 in age. Ha Ha - I can say this because I am over 50. I would suggest thanking them and telling them you are stuffed from whatever meal or you are not hungry. If they keep pushing, tell them you will take one with you to eat later at home.…

I can see why you would lose weight on this diet but I don't think I could stick with it a week, let alone 4 weeks. If I could, I would be so ill no one could stand to be around me!
-
If it is just plain coffee like you make at home without all of the fancy stuff, it isn't bad at all. Even with a teaspoon and a half each of creamer and sugar, it's about 32 calories so not bad. If it is black, it probably doesn't have any calories.

So far I don't feel deprived. I have only been here 3 weeks but I am so impressed that I have told anyone that would listen about this site. I am taking the steady stable one pound a week goal and so far, I am on track. I put in what I want to eat before I eat it to see the damage. If it is too bad, I will find something…

Mike, you are going to love this site. It figures out everything for you. I don't feel like I am dieting, I feel like I am eating better and more in moderation. I am losing my 1 pound a week goal and I could not be more pleased. Add me as a friend if you like.

Well, I am not that fat. Then, I saw my photo - Turns out I am that fat! HaHa Anyway, I am having good results here so that will change very soon!
-
I have not but I think about it a lot. I have mixed emotions about it. I read where some folks have had fabulous results and then I read where others have had horrible results. The one thing I do like about it is if you have problems, it can be reversed unlike the more radical by pass surgery. I am going to stick with MFP…
