  • As long as you stay close to MFP carb totals, I don't see a big deal. I eat carbs and sometimes go over a bit on the carbs. I think it helps me to purposely go over my protein grams to sort of off set the carbs but I am not a nutritionist. You have to be able to eat some of the foods you like or you will not be able to…
  • Try a little peanut butter and see if that helps with the craving.
  • Peanut Butter is a good way to get extra calories and it doesn't take much of it to get there.
  • Congrats on the weight you have lost. That is a lot of weight and something to be proud of. Hang in there if you can. I see other posters talk about giving themselves cheat days from time to time to keep them from burning out. These are folks who have lost 100 pounds plus so obviously it works. Good Luck
  • Just an estimate so don't take it as fact. Like you, until I saw the poster saying you should not eat your exercise calories, everything I read on here over and over is that you SHOULD eat your exercise calories. I guess that' something no one will agree on one way or the other.
  • The fat tax is sort of like the smoking tax. The argument is that these folks cost the system more. In the short run, that may be true but in the long run, not so sure. Smokers and morbidly obese people generally do not live as long as non smokers and those who keep their weight in tow. I don't like the idea at all for…

  • If it works for you then that's all that counts. Different things work for different people. The MFP works for me where as the Paleo did not. I will say that I am concerned at how few calories you are eating especially being a tall guy. Just don't go too far. Good Luck
  • Hi, A lady at the office just happened to tell me about this site. I love it! Good Luck
  • Being able to wear some of my favorite clothes and styles again.
  • My 14 year old grandson is so skinny the doctor wants him to gain some weight. He is a good eater but still skinny. The doc suggested Pediasure to help him gain weight.
  • Like you I enter my food before I eat it so I can keep track. It takes a lot of planning but so far so good for me. Good Luck to you. I think you have set a reasonable reachable goal for yourself.
  • No detox here before starting MFP.
  • I never bring up weight in any conversation whether the person is thin or fat. Now deep down I am probably wanting to hate the thin person since I am fat but I know they are thin for a reason and I am fat for a reason. Like another poster said - Why say anything at all? Random comments about weight are wrong either way.
  • Maybe you can eat a few nuts and a little more peanut butter to get more calories and protein. I am not a big meat eater so I get a lot of my protein from dairy but some folks can't eat dairy.
  • If you spend a lot of time in your vehicle with your work, keep a jar of peanut butter in it. Also, small peanut packs, fruit bars or protein bars are pretty easy to put in the console of your vehicle. Doing things like this help me stay away from the fast food places when I am on the road and hungry. It is fine to eat…
  • I love this site. After dieting for 40 years I finally know what I am doing thanks to this site. I pick up a lot of good info and recipes on the message boards so that is definitely a bonus. Good Luck
  • Focus on what you have done - you have lost 74 pounds! What a wonderful motivator you are to me and others. So what, you messed up today but you admit it and plan to fix it. Good for you.
  • Like you, I have health issues and have done nothing but gain weight the last 5 years. I started this site Sept 1 and have lost 5 pounds so hopefully I can knock off the remaining 40. It is hard when you go from moving all of the time to being able to do far less. Anyway, I am older than you and my daughter is grown so I…

  • Thyroid problems can cause hair loss. Taking too many aspirin or daily aspirin can cause bruises. Glad you are going to see a doctor as I doubt your diet has anything to do with it.
  • This is an amazing site. I can't believ it is free! I just started Sept 1 and these are the things that help me. I enter my foods before I eat them so I can see what the damage is. I eat what I like but make adjustments elsewhere and smaller portions but I do not torture myself which toture for me would be eating things…
  • If you have never had fresh veggies try picking up some at a local farmer's market. There is a world of difference in fresh than canned or frozen although frozen is a close second. If you can stand it, V8 is a good way to get in veggies. Have you tried dried beans or chilli with beans? I was never overly fond of yogurt…
  • Hi, I can relate. The first week on here I gained 2 pounds so I gave a hard look at my food diary. I had forgotten to add things like my coffee that I use cream and sugar plus the olive oil to cook the eggs. Anyway, I was very discouraged but I decided to give it a couple of weeks and I lost the 2 gained plus 5 so I am…
  • Please tell your doctor every thing you just said. I have a feeling he/she can get to the bottom of it and help you eat better and feel better.
  • My best friend is on Byetta and has been a couple of years. He lost about 15 pounds in the beginning and has managed to keep it off without much effort. It has done a wonderful job controling his Type 2 and he has not had any side affects. Hope it works this well for you.
  • You are at the right place. Before finding this site, I had trouble losing anything but I have finally started losing so I could not be happier.
  • I like the mask idea. If you put it on every time she gets near you, she will either ask why or stop getting near you. If she ask, you can politely tell her no offense but you are allergic to her perfume.
  • Hi, I am from Coastal NC. I love this site. I have dieted for 40 years and this is the first time I actually know what I am doing. I am going for the steady stable 1 pound a week and I am on track. I started Sept 1 and have lost 5 pounds. I don't feel deprived and this is something I feel like I can do for a long time -…
  • I joined Sept 1 and like you, I am excited. Excited to find something that makes sense and gives me so much information about my food choices. I have dieted for 40 years and this is the first time I actually know what I am doing. I have lost 5 pounds so far and I have not had to torture myself. I get to eat some of what I…
